Last night was undoubtedly one of the highlights of Keith Urban‘s career. It was also a night for his many fans to be proud of the artist and man he is.

Keith was honoured by Opry members, friends and fans last night at the Grand Ole Opry as he was officially welcomed into the Opry family. He brought the crowd to its feet by kicking off the night performing “Days Go By.” Later on, he performed “Without You” acoustically with his wife Nicole Kidman looking on from backstage.

Opry members Trace Adkins and Josh Turner had the honour of officially inducting Keith into the Opry with General Manager Pete Fisher. After being handed the microphone trophy, which contains part of the Ryman Auditorium stage, Keith delivered a heartwarming acceptance speech…

Josh Turner Releasing Album June 12th

Josh Turner. photo credit: George Holz.

After four number one smash hits with “All Over Me,” “Your Man,” “Would You Go With Me,” and “Why Don’t We Just Dance,” and over 5 million albums sold since his critically-acclaimed debut “Long Black Train,” Josh Turner is getting ready to release his fifth studio album “Punching Bag” on June 12th, 2012. The record features his current single “Time Is Love” as its lead-off single.

Josh co-wrote 11 of the tracks, most of which were penned in the cabin built on his property as a “writer’s cabin.” The inspiration for the cabin was Josh’s native state of South Carolina.

“I spent two years building my writer’s cottage. Once it was finished I was immediately in there writing songs. In total, I’ve written 27 songs in there and eight of those ended up on the record. My hero and friend, John Anderson, was sitting across the table from me one day when we were writing and said, ‘What will really be a great day is when the songs you write here end up paying for this place!’”\

It was in that exact cabin that Josh wrote the title track to the album, “Punching Bag,” with his friend Pat McLaughlin.

“The idea comes from one of those days that we all have, where everything just blows up in your face and nothing goes right. I had just had one of those days, and I came home and was standing in the closet with my wife and I unloaded on her about my day,” Josh tells AOL’s The Boot. “I told her, ‘Sometimes I feel like a punching bag, like life is just beating me up.’ When I said that, it struck me that it could be a huge song title. So I punched it into my phone and saved it. I held on to it until the right opportunity, [when I met with Pat McLaughlin].”

Jonesing For Some Josh? Take A Turner Double Shot!

Josh Turner.

Fans wanting to see some new Josh Turner will have to wait a little while longer.  His next album, Punching Bag,  isn’t due out until later this year.  His next tour date?  That would be next Friday and it would be helpful for you if you lived near Harris, MI (where he’ll be for back-to-back nights).

But there’s hope, my Josh junkies!  He finished shooting the video for his song “Time Is Love.”   We can’t see the video yet, but if you’re really jonesing for some Josh, here’s a double shot of preview pics:

The above pic shows Josh at the video shoot with the director (Peter Zavadil, 2nd from the left with the glasses) and various management and executive types (No offense folks!).  The video was shot in Nashville on Feb. 7 and is the ninth music video for the MCA Nashville recording artist.  The below pic is a still that Josh (or his people) were nice enough to share on his Facebook and Twitter pages.

“Time Is Love” hit radio late last month and has already climbed to #36 in the latest Mediabase chart.
