Exclusive Interview: Janelle Arthur

Janelle Arthur Interview

Janelle Arthur (@JanelleOArthur) is perhaps best known, at this time, as a contestant from Season 12 of American Idol. A true beauty, inside and out, the Tennessean country singer and guitarist left her life behind and embarked on the journey that so many hope to experience, but a mere few ever will. After placing fifth in a season of the most epic singing competition to ever land on American television, Janelle has been hard at work launching her solo career. We were fortunate to catch up with the incredibly sweet, personable, and inspiring artist to discuss her childhood, Idol journey, and what her bright musical future holds.

Janelle was born in Oliver Springs, Tennessee and began singing certain words before she could even speak them. Immediately it became clear that music was going to be a huge part of Janelle’s life. From that point forward, Janelle began performing around her hometown and in school, which led to a gig that most country-loving kids would be beyond honored to land. At eight-years-old, Janelle was cast as a young Dolly Parton at the Dollywood theme park in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Janelle’s mom was instrumental in her landing the part, as, after seeing an advertisement for the show in Country Weekly, she called Dollywood and inquired as to whether a child performer was needed. The phone call took place at just the right time, as production was looking for a little girl Janelle’s age to portray Dolly. Janelle’s mom asked if she could bring her to the audition, and thereafter, without hesitation, Janelle was immediately cast in the role.

A Recap of our ACM Performance Announcements

Blake Shelton & Luke Bryan co-host ACM awards.

Yesterday we were part of a teleconference with CBS and Academy of Country Music producers for the upcoming ACM awards this weekend. We got to know quite a few exciting secrets for the award show this weekend, and of course we couldn’t wait to tell our fans and readers on Twitter! If you’re following us on Twitter (@keepinitblog) you will have already heard these really cool performances, but we are recapping them now so everyone can keep track of what might be the most-fun Academy of Country Music Award show ever.

Unfortunately, we were unable to make it to the ACMs this year because of budgetary reasons, so we’ll be live-tweeting them from home along with you! Make sure you join us Sunday afternoon for our exclusive KEEPIN’ IT COUNTRY PRESENTS… Jason Charles Miller stageit show at 3 pm EST, before the ACMs kick off live from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas at 8 pm EST. Use hashtag #KIC to join in our fun!

The ACMs will kick off with a big opening performance of “Boys ‘Round Here” with Blake Shelton, Luke Bryan, Pistol Annies, Sheryl Crow, and Brad Paisley.

Jewel will perform a special Lifting Lives segment with a mash-up of her hit single “Hands Clean” and “Fill A Heart,” an original song by singer-songwriter Tori Kelly.

Hunter Hayes will get two pretty cool performances – he’ll be debuting his new single “I Want Crazy” with Stevie Wonder, and will mix in one of Stevie’s big hits. Hunter will return later in the show with Brad Paisley and Dierks Bentley live from the ACM Fan Jam. How did Stevie and Hunter get together? Turns out Hunter covers Stevie’s songs on tour, and Stevie discovered them and became a fan of Hunter.

Taylor Swift will have country superstars Keith Urban and Tim McGraw joining her for “Highway Don’t Care.”

Luke Bryan will be debuting a brand new single “Crash My Party” during the award show..

Kelly Clarkson will be performing her country single “Don’t Rush” with a special, announced guest. Is it Vince Gill? We don’t know, but we know he was approached along with someone else.

Reba will introduce a very special duet performance from Garth Brooks and George Strait who will be paying tribute to the late Dick Clark. It’s going to be a pretty emotional performance, so make sure you tune in for this one.

Do you have any questions about the ACMs? We’ll answer what we can on Facebook and Twitter!

Congratulations are in order today for new parents Jewel Kilcher and Ty Murray. The pair welcomed their first baby, Kase Townes Murray, on Monday at 7 pm CST in Texas. People magazine is reporting that their son weighed in at 7 lbs, 6 oz.

Jewel had problems trying to conceive in the past, and had a scary moment when she was hit by a firetruck back in March. She was five months pregnant at the time. She had found out she was expecting on the set of the first day of “Platinum Hit” on BRAVO.

“Ty and I are so pleased to welcome our new baby boy into the world. We are overcome with happiness, it really is as great as everyone told us it would be, better even!” – Jewel to People.com

Kase is the first child for the couple, who were married in the Bahamas in 2008. Jewel will be releasing a children’s album, titled “The Merry Goes ‘Round” in August.

They aren’t the only celebrities celebrating this week, as Victoria and David Beckham as well as Kate Hudson and Matthew Bellamy welcomed their own additions to the family yesterday.

Jewel’s Fit First Pregnancy

Singer-songwriter Jewel Kilcher is featured in the August-September issue of Fit Pregnancy magazine. Not only is she the cover story, but she has a great, lengthy interview on starting her career in coffee shops and how she’s expecting her first baby with husband Ty Murray.

She was first discovered by local radio stations, then the record labels all started chasing her for her unique voice and songwriting. She discusses how she managed to choose one, and stayed true to who she was throughout it out.

To read the interview check out CountryWeekly.com, who also have a video of Jewel from when she was about 30 weeks along in her first pregnancy.

Jewel is putting together a Children’s album, “The Merry Goes ‘Round,” and she’ll be hosting a brand new show “Platinum Hit.” Check out her magazine cover underneath the “read more” tag.

Jewel’s counting down the baby timer

With her son due to be born in July, Jewel isn’t worried about not having a name picked out for him yet. In an interview with Celebrity Baby Scoop, she discusses her recent car crash with a firetruck, how she plans to breastfeed her baby, and how she doesn’t have “first-time mommy nerves.” Although she ideally would want her son to follow in his parents’ footsteps, she isn’t going to force his hand into his carrer, she’ll let him pick whatever he wants to do when he gets older.

Jewel just finished writing a brand new studio album,  a children’s album. She plans to release it this Fall.
