EXCLUSIVE: Interview with Ashliegh Lisset

ashlieghcover

Ashliegh Lisset, a country artist from the great state of Texas, is down-to-earth and cognizant of the impact music has on its listeners. That is why Ashliegh strives in her career to be an attainable artist who embraces her ability to relate to fans, while providing herself with a creative outlet. We were privileged to sit down and speak with Ashliegh about her music career aspirations, how she is inspired in her career, and an upcoming announcement of which she gave us a little exclusive sneak preview!

Ashliegh’s story begins differently than most artists’. It is common to hear that artists were singing before they were talking and had a passion for music since they were in diapers. While Ashliegh sang as a young child, she discovered her true passion for music later in life and enveloped herself in this new companion when her world shattered around her. When Ashliegh was eleven years old, her father, who was serving his second tour for Operation Iraqi Freedom, was killed in the line of duty.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Dee Jay Silver

Dee Jay Silver

In today’s music, it is common to hear a remix of some of your favorite songs; even heartfelt power ballads have turned into dance hits with the help of some of music’s most talented DJs. And just when you thought DJ’ing couldn’t become anymore unique, enter Dee Jay Silver, the first DJ to be signed to a major Nashville record label. Dee Jay has played in premier venues in virtually every major market in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, but has ultimately found his home in Nashville. Whether he is touring with Jason Aldean and playing in sold out stadiums, performing on the American Country Awards, or remixing the work of some of country’s best known artists, Dee Jay is bringing his talents to the fans of country music in a myriad of ways. Dee Jay took some time out of his day of “bad television” while he recovered from the ACAs in Las Vegas to talk with me about his music, his favorite tour stop to date, and his future plans (which included getting back to Nashville stat!).

Mustached Man Monday in Movember

Tyler Farr

For the final Monday in Movember, we decided to spotlight a man who reached a milestone in his career most recently…His first ever platinum single! Tyler Farr is a singer/songwriter from a small town in Missouri. Tyler learned about country music from his stepfather, who played guitar for the legendary George Jones.

Once Tyler realized his love for country music, he moved to Nashville to pursue his dream of becoming a musician. Tyler began working at Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge, a popular bar in Music City. After working at Tootsie’s for several months, Tyler convinced the management to allow him to perform. Tyler started performing four nights a week, along with maintaining his job as a bouncer.

Tyler also found himself becoming friends with Rhett Akins, who saw Tyler’s talent and wanted to work with him. Tyler ultimately worked with some of the best writers in Nashville and was signed to BNA Records. Tyler has written for Colt Ford and opened for Jerrod Niemann and Lee Brice before releasing his debut album, Redneck Crazy. The title track of Redneck Crazy recently was awarded with RIAA Platinum Certification.

Congratulations, Tyler, on your recent successes! Keep this artist’s name in your minds, ladies and gentlemen. Tyler is certainly going to be a huge part of country music moving forward!

Country stars react to Mindy McCready’s suicide

Mindy McCready.

It’s been a tragic twenty-four hours for the country music community after learning about the passing of singer Mindy McCready. The “Ten Thousand Angels” artist was found dead from an apparent suicide last night in Arkansas. Mindy was 37 years old and leaves behind a six year old and a nine-year old son.

See what some of country’s brightest stars had to share about the sad news:

Oak Ridge Boys: We sang “Farther Along” last night in honor of Mindy McCready. One day we will know!!!!!

John Rich: Very sad to hear about Mindy McCready. When I was in Lonestar she was our label mate and we were friends. A tragic end to a talented life.

Jana Kramer: So sad to hear about the loss of Mindy. What an insanely talented woman.

Michelle Wright: As you may know Mindy McCready has passed on. She was a young promising country music artist in the mid ’90′s but faced a number of challenges and I’m so sad that she lost the battle with addiction and mental illness which can also cause depression. I’ve been sober now for several years and I know how hard it can be sometimes. RIP Mindy.

Jimmy Wayne: RIP @mindymccready We met 14 years ago @ Acuff & Rose. Who’d thought 14 years later on this day…. #why

Jason Blaine: Sad to hear about the passing of Mindy McCready. Thoughts & prayers for her young children. Tragic situation.

Carrie Underwood: I grew up listening to Mindy McCready… so sad for her family tonight. Many prayers are going out to them…
