What’s better than a Jana Kramer concert?  A free Jana Kramer concert!

Fans in the Nashville area can have just that — a free Jana show — on Monday, April 16th.  The show will be at 12th & Porter and is being taped for CMT.  Doors for the free, all-ages show will open at 5:00pm, and the show will start at 5:30.  Entry will be first-come first-serve.

The former One Tree Hill actress made an immediate impact with her debut single, “Why Ya Wanna.”   When the song was released in late January, 55 radio stations added it to their rotations.  That made Kramer the most added debut artist since Country Aircheck began tracking playlist adds back in 2006.  The single currently sits at #24 in the latest Billboard Country Song chart.

Her debut single will be followed, naturally, by her debut album.  The self-titled disc comes out on June 5th.  We can expect a crush of Kramer with appearances — both live and on TV — to surround the release.    We’ll keep you updated to when and where you can satisfy your jonesing for more Jana.

The news is coming fast and furious for Jana Kramer.

Last night we got our first look at the artwork for her debut album.  Today we’re learning that the self-titled disc will be available on June 5th.

Kramer is currently putting the finishing touches on the album, which is being produced by Scott Hendricks, who has worked with such notable names as Blake Shelton and Brooks & Dunn.

The former One Tree Hill actress has sold almost 250,000 digital singles to date, including her debut country single “Why Ya Wanna.”   That record broke records when it first came out .  It racked up an impressive 55 radio adds upon its release which made Jana the most added debut artist in the history of Country Aircheck.  “Why Ya Wanna” currently sits at #26 in both the Billboard and Mediabase charts.

As for Jana, she’s not sitting still waiting for her release date.  She’s been playing a series of shows all across the country and has two very high-profile dates coming up  First, she’ll be taking part in the ACM Fremont Street Experience this weekend in Las Vegas.  She’s set to play the First Street Stage on Saturday night starting at 7pm local time.  Then she’ll be making her Grand Ole Opry debut on April 10th.

Jana Kramer is giving us a look at Jana Kramer.  Yes, she’s showing us her, but to be more precise, she’s showing us her album cover.  And seeing how it appears to be a self-titled album, who else would you expect to see on the cover?

Kramer posted the picture of her album cover (see it at the end of the story) on her Facebook page earlier tonight, telling her fans:

You’ve been asking me when the album’s coming out…can’t tell you yet. But I CAN show you the cover!!! Whatta you think?

Fans will instantly recognize the picture from the music video for her debut single “Why Ya Wanna.”   The video has been getting plenty of play on TV, just like single has been ripping up the radio. “Why Ya Wanna” is steadily climbing the charts, currently sitting at #26 with both Billboard and Mediabase.

EXCLUSIVE: Interview With Jana Kramer

jana kramer

I had the chance to sit down with Jana Kramer in the Warner Nashville offices on my birthday during CRS week in February.  It became obvious fast how deep her love for country music really is from the 20 minutes I spent with the singer and actress. I was let in on a little secret at the time – that Jana will be making her Opry debut – although they didn’t yet have a date at the time of the interview. Jana’s Opry debut will be on Friday, April 13th, and we discuss what it means to the singer to be stepping into the circle and how much of a dream it is for her.

Find out what Jana’s reaction was to hearing herself on the radio for the first time, what song she wish she wrote, and how excited she was to finally be able to release her music video. Read our exclusive catch-up interview with Jana below:

Jana Kramer To Make Opry Debut

Elektra Nashville / Warner Nashville artist Jana Kramer will be making her Grand Ole Opry debut on Friday, April 13th. Jana is currently finishing up her debut country album with producer Scott Hendricks, and her debut single “Why Ya Wanna” is in the Mediabase Singles Chart top 30 right now.

“Singing at the Opryis going to be the greatest honor, as well as a childhood dream come true. Every artist I have idolized has performed there. To know that I’ll be singing on the same stage where they stood assures the fact that I am living a dream right now. I’m going to take in every single second of it.”

We spoke with Jana during CRS week. Look out for our interview with Jana, and her reaction to playing at the Opry, in our interview next week. Congratulations Jana!

Jana Kramer’s “Out” And “In”

jana kramer

Jana Kramer is starting the week with a bit of “out” and ‘in”.  The “out” is her music video for her song “Why Ya Wanna,” which made it’s debut today.  The “in” is that the single is in the Mediabase Top 40 for the first time, appearing today at #40.

CMT exclusively debuted the video for the former One Tree Hill actress.  The network is also backing the Elektra Nashville singer by naming her as the inaugural artist in their revamped Listen Up program, which highlights artists on the verge of breaking out.  What that means for Kramer is a lot of support this month from CMT, both on TV and online.

That’s very good news for Kramer, who set a record with the radio release of “Why Ya Wanna.”  When the song was first released, 55 radio stations added it to their rotations.  That made Kramer the most added debut artist since Country Aircheck began tracking playlist adds back in 2006.  Her cracking into the Mediabase Top 40 shows the song is now starting to pick up steam.  It might be going from steam to smoke to flame with the added attention the video will be bringing her.  Stay tuned!

VIDEO: Behind The Scenes Of Jana Kramer’s “Why Ya Wanna”

Next week fans will be able to actually watch one fo our 2012 Artists To Watch.  On Monday, Jana Kramer’s “Why Ya Wanna” video starts airing on CMT.

The former small-screen actress told us a bit about the video when we spoke with her last month (read the interview here).  She let us know the shoot was really “hot”.  That’s not to say steamy between her and guy in the video, but literally hot.  Kramer said it was 114 degrees the day they shot it.  But as we see in this behind the scenes video, the singer manages to keep her cool:

Kramer made history with the release of “Why Ya Wanna.”  It was added to the playlsits of 55 radio stations, which made her the most added debut artist in history since Country Aircheck began tracking these things back in 2006.  That was a few weeks ago and the song has yet to crack the top 40.  But that could soon change with the release of the video.

2012 Artist To Watch: Jana Kramer

jana kramer

Out of all of our Artists To Watch, Jana Kramer is unique.  The reason for that is that she’s already been watched – by millions each week as the character Alex Dupre on CW’s One Tree Hill.  I have to admit, I was never one of the millions, which actually makes me – and every other non-watching country music fan – her new target audience.

The 28-year-old has now signed off from the small screen and is focused solely on her singing career.  She released her first single, “Why Ya Wanna,” in record-setting style last week.  A total of 55 stations added the song to their playlists, which is the most ever for a debut artist, male or female.  (Read about her reaction to the record and more on the single here.)

One possible reason for country radio’s warm reception is that Kramer’s already proven there’s a market for her music.  Before the radio release of “Why Ya Wanna,” she had a handful of digital singles out.  Those singles have sold nearly 200,000 copies without any airplay.  Clearly, people are listening and liking what they hear – including us.  We featured her “What I Love About Your Love” earlier this month in our Video Picks of the Week.

EXCLUSIVE: Interview With Jana Kramer

It didn’t take very long for Jana Kramer to step down from One Tree Hill and climb up the country charts.

The now former small-screen star released her first single, “Why Ya Wanna,” this week.  The song’s title may not win over many English teachers, but the song itself is rocking country radio.  Country Aircheck reported that 55 stations added the song to their playlists.  That’s nearly triple the previous high mark for any debut female artist.

The 28-year-old Michigan native is known to many from her acting work on the TV series One Tree Hill.  Her last episode on that program aired earlier this week.  Now that she’s taken leave from OTH, she’s fully focused on her singing career.

I got to talk with Jana, who is confident and committed to her new craft.  We discussed her record-setting debut, where the song came from and if she’s had that special moment that all artists experience with their first release.
