Colt Ford and Jake Owen Have a New Single

Colt Ford.

With so much buzz surrounding Colt Ford’s latest sinlge “Back” with Jake Owen, Ford decided to more up the release date and make the single available on iTunes now!  “Back” is the first single off Ford’s new album, Declaration of Independence, which is set to hit stores on August 7th.  The song was written by Colt Ford, Shannon Houchins, Noah Gordon, and Mike Hartnett and finds Ford reminiscing about some of his favorite childhood memories.

This is such a personal song for me.  It’s my life.  It’s about my past and my future.  I talk about friends that are no longer here and I talk about the way I grew up…To have one of my best friends in the music business, Jake Owen, be a part of this song with me is a big deal.  It’s a song that I wanted a friend of mine to be a part of and Jake is just on fire and one of my favorite singers. He captured the emotion that I had in this song.  I think everyone, when they hear this song, will want to call home.

Kenny Chesney & Tim McGraw Ready Production for Tour

1303859-kenny-chesney-tim-mcgraw-new-617

What do you get when you mix country mega-stars Kenny Chesney and TimMcGraw with the prospect of a summer stadium tour? It’s quite simple: You get an epic production that will cover over 19,000 miles and 21 stadiums with over 20 buses and 80 tractor trailers.

The “Brothers of the Sun” Tour is ready for its kick off on June 2 in Tampa, Florida and will take the longtime friends, along with openers Jake Owen and Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, over 19,458 miles in 88 days by the time the tour wraps on August 25th in Foxboro, MA.

This tour is a far cry from Chesney’s early days. “It doesn’t seem that long ago when it was just 14 of us crammed into a 12-bunk bus we called ‘the iron lung,’ ‘cause it leaked diesel fumes inside the bus,” said Chesney. “There weren’t enough bunks for everybody so we took turns sleeping on the couch and floor, but we were living our dream and having fun. And even though we have a lot more stuff now, we’re still having a blast and just as passionate about playing music and taking it out to the fans, whether it be in a club or stadium.”

“It’s been a lot of fun rehearsing in Nashville, but rehearsals are over. It’s time to pack the trucks and head to Tampa,” added McGraw.  “I’m pretty sure there are towns in Louisiana with smaller populations than we have on our road crew.  It takes a village and a lot of hard work by a lot of people, but I’m just excited for the fans because we’ve got one hell of a show planned for them!”

While on the road, the giant tour crew (283, to be exact) will eat like royalty thanks to a traveling catering staff. In addition to three hot meals a day, each show day will have a “Stage Bar & Grill” that will serve classic BBQ faves like hamburgers and hot dogs on stage from 10am until 9pm. Manning the grills will be random crew members, ranging from the stage manager, various truck drivers and even members of Chesney’s band.

With such a huge production that includes stadium shows on both Saturdays and Sundays, there will actually be two separate teams building and then tearing down the stage over a 91 hour period. This epic set will include an LED video wall with nearly 2,400,000 pixels for sharpness and clarity, as well as 80 strobes and 48 Syncrolites that are placed throughout the stadium to send five foot diameter beams of light crisscrossing the night sky.

In describing this tour, one word comes to Chesney’s mind: passion. “I use the word ‘passion’ a lot because it takes a lot of passionate and dedicated people to make this happen day in and day out,” said Chesney. “And most of the people that were with us a decade ago are still here. We’re a family.”

Jake Owen Gets Married!

Jake Owen

Congratulations to country music singer Jake Owen, and his now-wife, Lacey Buchanen. The couple were married in a sunrise ceremony on a Florida beach this morning.

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE magazine, Jake shares that it was an intimate family-only ceremony. Jake’s twin brother, Jarrod, was the best man and Jake’s uncle, Ron Owen, officiated. After the pair exchanged a quick “I do,” the party moved to the Vero Beach Hotel and Spa for champagne, cake-cutting, and a sit-down brunch.

“I’m looking forward to being a husband, someone his wife relies and leans on,” said Owen, who will hit the road with Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney on June 2 – though not before taking a honeymoon.

Added the bride: “He gives me so much love, that it’s the best place of my life, and having the commitment of marriage means everything.”

Jake had proposed to Lacey just recently at a home-town performance during his hit “Don’t Think I Can’t Love You,” but without a ring he designed himself. He wasn’t even prepared himself to ask Lacey to marry him, so back at their home he asked again – but with the ring he designed himself!

Lacey wore an Amsale gown and veil, and Jake threw out the blue jeans in favor of a white Armani shirt and Tommy Bahama drawstring pants. Both were barefoot on the beach for the ceremony. See their official wedding picture from PEOPLE magazine below:

Jake Owen Comments On Engagement

Jake Owen.

“Lacey is the answer to all of my prayers.”

That’s just one of the comments from newly engaged Jake Owen about his now fiancée Lacey Buchanan (See a pic of the happy couple below).  Adds Owens:  “She is an amazing person and I’m the luckiest guy in the world.”

Jake proposed to Lacey on Saturday night, in his hometown of Vero Beach, FL, in front of 5,500 family, friends and fans, during the performance of his hit song “Don’t Think I Can’t Love You.”  Most people would shy away from making such a public proposal, but for Jake it was the perfect time and place.

“When I was on stage, it just hit me how many of our family members (Lacey is also a Florida native) and friends were at the show,” reflects Jake. “So, I thought sharing that moment would mean a lot to everyone.”

Jake Owen Proposes During Concert

Jake Owen.

“Alone With You” singer Jake Owen won’t be alone any more.

The singer with back-to-back number one hits, sealed the deal with the number one woman in his life.  He proposed to his girlfriend Lacey Buchanan during his concert last night and, naturally, she said yes!

The surprise proposal come during a show in Jake’s hometown of Vero Beach, FL.  He dropped to one knee during the singing of his “Don’t Think I Can’t Love You.”  As the below pair of fan-shot videos show, the moment Jake’s knee went down, cheers from the crowd went up.  (The first video is a bit closer, but the second one starts while Jake is still singing.)

The number one just might start being Jake Owen’s favorite number.  His songs sure seem to like it.

For two consecutive weeks, Owen’s hit single, “Alone with You,” holds the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart.  In addition, this week the song jumped to the No. 1 spot on Country Aircheck as well.  This marks back-to-back chart toppers for Jake and the second multi-week No. 1 single from his album, Barefoot Blue Jean Night, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart.

The third single from Barefoot Blue Jean Night will be “The One That Got Away.”  Jake says the song, which he co-wrote with BMI and ACM Songwriter of the Year Dallas Davidson and Jimmy Ritchey, tells a true story.

“I’m from Vero Beach, FL, and every summer, girls would come to town with their families. One summer, this girl and I were totally inseparable and after she left, I never saw her again. That’s where the idea for this song came from. The first few lines are: She rolled in / My little sandy town / She spent the summer there / A couple houses down / Well it was magic in the air / When she caught my eye / We shared three short months / And one long goodbye.”
