Indiana State Fair Victims To Receive Five Million Dollars

Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller has announced plans to award the victims of the tragic Indiana State Fair collapse the maximum award under state law. The victims will receive five million dollars under the government liability law. Wednesday, fair officials also announced that they will set up a relief fund separate from this award from the government for the victims. The fund contains over $800,000 from private companies and individuals. No details are available yet on what the criteria will be to decide who will get what from these funds.

”I can pledge, on behalf of the commission,” said Chairman of the INDIANA STATE FAIR COMMISSION ANDRE LACY, “that we are going to try to get at least something to the victims as quickly as we can.”

Memorial Planned today for Indiana State Fair Victims

A memorial service is planned today for the victims of the tragic accident at a Sugarland concert on the weekend at the Indiana State Fair. High winds had toppled over the stage ontop of the crowd, killing five and injuring fifty who were waiting for the duo to take the stage. Sugarland and Sara Bareilles cancelled their performance at the Iowa State Fair last night after the accident. The fair is set to re-open today with a memorial tribute.

“There are no words to process a moment of this magnitude and gravity. There are only prayers for peace in the hearts of the bereft, and prayers of thanksgiving for those who were spared or safe.
