]]> Once upon a time, Kelly Clarkson won a little show called American Idol. And then she did a ton of awesomely impressive stuff. However, she may have topped it all today. Backed by the United States Marine Band, KC did America proud, taking to the steps of the Capitol to perform “America (My Country ‘Tis of Thee)” at the Inauguration of President Barack Obama. Who knew the song had so many verses?!

After the performance, Clarkson jokingly tweeted, “Wow ….I was incredibly nervous and cold ha! I just wanna officially thank President Obama for opening for me haha! Just kidding :)”

Check out Kelly’s stirring performance below…I don’t know about you, but this song never sounded so good in my elementary school home room.
