Six months ago he was diagnosed with Alzheimer disease, after suffering from short-term memory loss. While the disease is still in its early stages; the 76-year old Campbell has decided to release his final album this Summer and have a farewell tour, “The Glen Campbell Goodbye Tour.”

His wife, Kim Woolen, went public to People magazine about the disease so fans would understand what was going on if he messes up a lyric onstage.

“Glen is still an awesome guitar player and singer. But if he flubs a lyric or gets confused on stage, I wouldn’t want people to think, ‘What’s the matter with him? Is he drunk?”

Campbell’s album, “Ghost on the Canvas,” will still be released August 30th; the same day he launches his final tour. The hall of fame artist formerly had his own CBS show.
