The lineup for George Jones‘ Tribute Concert at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena just got even bigger. In addition to an already packed lineup, it was announced today that George Strait, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Eric Church, Reba McEntire and Alabama will also be performing at the November 22nd show.

“I am thrilled and honored that so many of George’s friends are coming to what would have been his last concert, but is not a fitting tribute,” says Nancy Jones. “George loved these artists and before passing had actually wrote letters to almost all of them.”

The new list of performers will join an already star-studded lineup that includes Alan Jackson, Dierks Bentley, Travis Tritt, Tanya Tucker, Josh Turner, The Oak Ridge Boys, Charlie Daniels, Jamey Johnson, Montgomery Gentry, Sam Moore, and others. All previously announced artists are currently being reconfirmed.

Exclusive Interview: Introducing Ryan Beaver

ryan-beaver

For those not yet familiar with Ryan Beaver, we want to change that for you. The Texan musician/singer-songwriter has released two albums independently and built quite the loyal following in and around his home state. In our exclusive interview, we discuss his inspirations, his recent move to Nashville, George Strait and more.

KIC: For those readers who may be ‘meeting’ you for the first time in this blog, can you give us a little bit of a back story as to how you began performing?

RB: I’ve always had a love affair for music, songs, instruments, & musicians. It began very young as my Mother played piano and my Father played his records. It was always a special thing for me that developed over time. Eventually I couldn’t stop thinking about it day in and out and began to write songs. It’s like an infectious disease. Once you catch it, there is no cure.

KIC: You’ve released two albums independently, with the most recent coming out in 2011. What’s next for you?

RB: A third album is in the works. I should be recording it this fall and will be looking forward to its release. I’ll give it everything I have and it still won’t feel done. That’s just how I am. I can’t wait to share my new songs and stories with the fans of what I do. I also can’t believe how lucky I am to be calling this a job.

George Strait releases new single I Believe

The King of Country Music will be taking over country radio again with his new single “I Believe.” The latest single from George Strait‘s new record “Love is Everything” is the follow-up to his 60th number one hit “Give It All We’ve Got Tonight.” He became the first artist in music history to get 60 career number one singles.

“I Believe” was co-written by George with his son, Bubba Strait, and Dean Dillion after watching the news coverage of the tragic school shooting in Newton last December. George lost a daughter at a young age and felt a special connection to the events and started to write the single, however, when he first was finishing the album he didn’t originally include the track. It was his wife, Norma, who got George to add the track to “Love is Everything.”

About the special connection to the song, George said:

“Like everybody, I was watching the coverage on TV. I know what these parents are going through. It’s the worst thing that can happen to you in your life. To lose a child….there’s nothing worse than that. So I started thinking about saying something about it.” He continues, “It’s a statement of faith, is really what it is. It turned out beautiful.”

Earlier this year Strait kicked off in high gear during the first leg of his The Cowboy Rides Away Tour. The tour earned Strait the title as the highest ranked country act on Pollstar’s 2013 Worldwide Tickets Chart, and he is expected to announce details and dates for the 2014 leg of his tour, kicking off early next year, later this fall.

George Strait’s Father passes away

Sad news today for the country world. George Strait‘s father, John Byron Strait has passed away. The high school math teacher was 91 and lived in Big Wells, Texas.

George said:

“We are grateful for the time over the last few weeks we were able to spend with Daddy before he passed away. I want to thank everyone for their prayers and support during this difficult time as we mourn our family’s loss.”

Our thoughts are with the country icon and his family during this difficult time.

The funeral will be private and held for family and friends only. For fans wanting to send their condolences, the family is accepting donations, instead of gifts, to the Jenifer Strait Memorial Foundation.

George Strait wraps tour in Texas

George Strait.

Country icon George Strait finished his 2013 leg of his farewell tour with a bang in San Antonio, Texas. His “Cowboy Rides Away Tour” broke a record in his home-town, with over 73,000 fans there to see him live with Martina McBride.

The date was a big deal to the legend, who admitted he was nervous before hitting the stage. George said:

“I’ve been thinking about this show all month long, and I have to admit, I was a little nervous… but I’m not anymore!”

While his 2014 final dates for his “Cowboy Rides Away” tour have not yet been announced, fans can grab his 40th studio album “Love Is Everything” right now! It’s available in both digital and physical music retailers. Were you lucky enough to catch one of his dates this year, or are you hoping to see him in your area next year?
