Possible Oscar Nods For Brad Paisley & Zac Brown

The final Oscar nominees for “Best Original Song” are still being considered, but our very own country stars, Brad Paisley and Zac Brown, may find themselves on the final nominations list.

Paisley wrote and recorded “Collision of Worlds” for the Cars 2 soundtrack, while Brown along with Wyatt Durrette, Drew Pearson, and Anne Preven penned “Where the River Goes” for the Footloose soundtrack. Brown also recorded the track. The two songs are in contention with 37 other finalists.

The final nominees will be revealed on January 24th, and the Academy Awards will take place on February 26th in Los Angeles.

Have you heard 15-year-old Ella Mae Bowen’s outstanding version of “Holding Out For a Hero” from the Footloose soundtrack yet? If not, it is a must listen! Her cover is beautiful and is definitely a stand-out track from the album.

Bowen was signed to Big Machine Label Group earlier this month, and MTV just recently released an exclusive video premiere for “Holding Out For A Hero.”

I think we are going to be hearing a great deal from Bowen in the future.

DVR Alert: Julianne Hough On Leno & Dancing With The Stars

Julianne Hough has been making the rounds to promote her movie, Footloose, which is in theaters this Friday, October 14th. Make sure you catch Julianne later on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno!

Also, do not forget to set your DVRs for Dancing With The Stars tomorrow night. Hough will return to her old stomping ground to take the stage to dance with Footloose co-star Kenny Wormald as Blake Shelton performs his version of the classic song “Footloose.” Julianne is also slated to perform a number with her brother and Dancing With The Stars stand-out, Derek Hough.

Nashville Will Cut Fooloose Tomorrow Night

Nashville is about to turn a little more Hollywood tomorrow night. The Nashville premiere of the new “Footloose” movie takes place Thursday night. Stars on the bill to attend include movie star Julianne Hough and sound track stars Big & Rich, Blake Shelton, Hunter Hayes, and a few of their Nashville friends. Other country singers expected to attend include American Idol runner-up Lauren Alaina, Kix Brooks, Survivor contestant Whitney Duncan, Martina McBride, and many others.

Country Weekly is reporting that the red carpet will be rolled out in Franklin, Tennessee at a restored movie house. Blake Shelton’s version of the classic “Footloose” theme takes up the end of the movie, while Big & Rich’s “Fake ID” provides a whole scene in the movie, according to CW. Review: Blake Shelton “Footloose”

“Everybody cut footloose…”

As you already know, the remake of the iconic 1980′s movie, Footloose, hits theaters on October 14th. Country music star, Julianne Hough, stars in the female lead role.

Last month, the soundtrack song list was revealed adding several other country artists to the project. Leading the way is country music superstar, Blake Shelton, who will be the new voice of the movie’s classic title song. The track, “Footloose”, was originally made famous by Kenny Loggins and topped the U.S. Billboard charts almost three decades ago.

Shelton’s remake hit the web this week. Whenever something as iconic as “Footloose” is remade, whether it be the song or the movie, you can bet it will receive some scrutiny. Shelton stated via twitter that the response to the song has been ‘polarizing’ with people both loving and hating his version.

Well, I fall on the side with those who are very happy with Shelton’s cover. He remains true to Loggins’ original version, but provides a fresh sound adding his own fun-loving charm and top-notch vocals. To me, Shelton has a voice that has an ability to draw you in. With a song as representative to 80′s pop culture as “Footloose”, you needed someone like Shelton to take over the reigns from Loggins. Shelton had some big boots to fill, but he certainly did the song justice and I am pleased that he will be the one to revive “Footloose” for long-time fans as well as introduce it to a new generation. I think Shelton has another hit on his hands.
