REVIEW: Nashville – Sometimes Good Intentions Don’t Come Across So Well

nashville-abc_0

This seemed to be the theme of the second episode of the show that has created quite a buzz, ABC’s Nashville. The second episode began with Hayden Panettiere‘s character, Juliette Barnes, taking over the streets of Nashville, literally, as she filmed a music video that has Laura Bell Bundy “Giddy On Up” style choreography, mixed with the naughtiness of Christina Aguilera back in her “Dirrty” days. And, of course, stuck in the traffic caused by Juliette is Rayna Jaymes, former country starlet who is trying to breathe new life back into a career that her record label believes is dwindling. Naturally, seeing the young vixen create such a stir is a point of contention for Rayna, as she still tries to work through the abominable idea her record label suggested — that she open for a songstress that, age-wise, she could have given birth to herself.

One half of country music royalty will be returning to the charts this week. Faith Hill‘s brand new single, “American Heart,” was sent to country radio on September 17th, before it’s official add date of October 1st. It’s the follow-up to her comeback single, a remake of OneRepublic’s “Come Home.”

Her new song is a co-write by Jim Beavers and Jonathan Singleton. It was produced by both Byron Gallimore and Faith herself! The single is from her upcoming album, which Faith admitted backstage at CMA Fest is completed. There’s still no release date announced for her record.

“American Heart” was one of the three brand new songs Faith performed at CRS in February. There’s no word yet on when the single will be available for digital release, but keep your ears out and let us know if you’ve heard it yet on your local radio station!

Country Music’s 10 Hottest Dads

dierks bentley

In honor of Father’s Day, we knew we had to celebrate country music’s great fathers. They love their kids, they write excellent songs, they put on phenomenal concerts…and they look pretty hot while doing so. Today, we salute country’s music’s 10 Hottest Dads.

While it was hard to narrow it down, these hunky dads stole our top ten spots.

Pretty Little Liar Turned Country Artist

lucy-hale-hollywood-records

Lucy Hale, best known for her role as Aria Montgomery, eclectic teenage stalkee who dates her older and nerdier high school teacher on ABC Family’s “Pretty Little Liars,” is ready to venture out from in front of the lens and spend some time in the recording studio.

Hale, a Memphis native and “American Juniors” winner (yes, we just took you back to 2003, when Deborah Gibson made her “comeback” and the Thompson sisters from Season One of “The Voice” were cute little teeny-bopping kiddos) recently signed a recording deal with Hollywood Records and hopes to revisit her country music roots. Hale cites her influences as Shania Twain, Faith Hill, and Britney Spears. One of these things is not like the other, huh? Well, Hale explains that she grew up listening to Twain and Hill, but Spears lit a fire in Hale to pursue a musical career.

Hale is scheduled to hit the recording studio later this year with a single and album due out in 2013. Best of luck to Lucy Hale as she enters into the country music community! Something tells us she will be widely accepted by musicians and fans alike.

Saddle up, Lucy! –A

Tim McGraw and an Australian Fan

Faith Hill & Tim McGraw.

Whenever Tim McGraw and his wife, Faith Hill, tour together you know it’s going to be huge. The couple recently held an arena tour in Australia together, and we have a story from one of Tim’s biggest Australian fans on what it was like to meet Tim that day. Tameka Oldham, and her nine-year-old son, Kris, had been eagerly counting down the days until the concert like most fans Down Under. Tameka sent us her story, and some pictures, of country music’s biggest couple of the last decade. Read their story below and check out their pictures from the Melbourne date back on March 20th at the Rod Laver Arena, and see how a country music superstar made a little fan’s day. Do you have a fan story you want to share? E-mail us today and you might see yourself on Keepin’ it Country!

The night started with us meeting management and heading on down to the M&G for Tim, which to our surprise, he comes walking through the door holding Faith’s hand. They both greeted us with these HUGE warm smiles. My 9-year-old son Kris’ grin was equally as big and started talking Tim’s ear off. Tim started off joking around with Kris  telling him how much he has grown since he was in his “Felt Good On My Lips” video and that Kris should stop growing so fast. He then told Kris he wasn’t happy that he was better looking than him. It was then time for the photo, Faith stepped back and said to Tim “oh no its OK I think he just wants one with you.”

The Best Valentines Day Songs

pic

Here at Keepin’ It Country, we like to get a little festive. With Valentines Day tomorrow, we thought it would be fun to put together some of our favourite songs that celebrate love and are thus appropriate to celebrate during this time of year. We recognize some oldies (but goodies), as well as some more modern tunes. Nonetheless, it was rather hard trying to narrow down this list to just ten! Let us know how you feel about our picks!
