Eli Young Band Are First To Get CMA Medals

Eli Young Band.

Rising star group Eli Young Band were the first artists to receive the brand new CMA Medallion this week. The new Olympics-styled medal replaces the former CMA plaque for writing or performing a number one country song, and was awarded to the group in celebration of their newest chart topper “Even If It Breaks Your Heart.” The party was a standing room only event at the Country Music Association offices on Music Row as supporters and friends of the group overwhelmingly came out to share the love.

Yesterday’s presentation of the new CMA medals was made by BMI’s Jody Williams, ASCAP’s Mike Sistad, Cal IV Entertainment’s Danielle Hill, Big Machine’s Scott Borchetta and Jimmy Harnen, Avenue Bank’s Ron Cox, CMA’s Brandi Simms and CRS’ Bill Mayne.

“Thank you for believing in us and believing in this song,” said Mike Eli. “We fell in love with the song not because we saw, or had any foresight, or thought it was a No. 1. We just loved this song.”

The song was especially personal to writers Eric Paslay and Will Hoge. Will spoke about writing the song together:

“It was so personal for Ericand I, we thought it would never connect because it was so personal. Eli Young took it and truly made it an anthem.”

Congratulations to Eli Young Band! Check out the picture below of the group getting their medals:

Eli Young Band Celebrates Second Consecutive #1 Hit with “Even If It Breaks Your Heart”

The guys of the Eli Young Band have scored their second consecutive #1 on Country radio with their single, “Even If It Breaks Your Heart,” off of their Life At Best Album. The song nabbed the #1 spot on both the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart and the USA Today/Country Aircheck powered by Mediabase Chart.

“The message that is in ‘Even If It Breaks Your Heart’ lives in every one us, said Jimmy Harnen, President of Republic Nashville. He added, “we all have dreams that we strive to achieve regardless of how challenging the journey. In many respects this song is reflective of EYB’s drive, hard work and incredible talent to be where they are today! Back-to-back #1 singles with ‘Crazy Girl’ and ‘Even If It Breaks Your Heart,’ sold out shows, platinum and gold records and millions of fans. I have said it before and I will say it again, this could not happen to a nicer or more deserving group of people.”
Jon Jones (bass player for EYB) said, “It means the world to us to have back to back number ones.” He added, “this one is especially meaningful to us because the song resonated with us like nothing before. The song is our story and that it has been embraced by country fans and country radio is proof that dreams really do come true.“

Florida Georgia Line Lace Up Their Boots in Support of the Troops

Country newcomers Florida Georgia Line are proud to join forces with the Boot Campaign in support of the troops. The duo, Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard, have pledged their commitment to the cause by putting on their own combat boots to literally “take a walk in a soldier’s shoes.”

For the band, this is a cause that hits close to home. “Anything that we can do to help our soldiers past, present and future and their families, we are thankful to be a part of. This cause really hits close to home; my uncle and cousin both served overseas and my grandfather was awarded two purple hearts during his active duty. We are proud to be a part of The Boot Campaign and thrilled to have them on the road with us for the Country Throwdown Tour. We hope to see all the country fans at the show put their boots on and join us in supporting our veterans as they return home,” says Kelley.

Florida Georgia Line is in good company, as other celebrity supporters of the Boot Campaign include Dolly Parton, The Rock, FX’s Cast of Sons Of Anarchy, Troy Aikman, Brantley Gilbert, Eli Young Band, George Jones and Gary Allan. Supporters of the cause purchase boots, with all proceeds going to military charities, to put on in order to “symbolically walk in the shoes of our military men and women to remember their service and sacrifice.”

Florida Georgia Line is currently speeding up the charts with their debut single “Cruise,” from their new EP It’z Just What We Do. For more information on Florida Georgia Line and tour dates, visit www.FloridaGeorgiaLine.com.

VIDEO: Dierks Bentley Rocks Record Store Day

dierks bentley

Dierks Bentley has an affinity for the old-school albums. We’re talking vinyl records. The format is far from the most popular these days, but it’s still big with Bentley.

The country superstar demonstrated his respect for records on Saturday by taking part in Record Store Day. He celebrated the fifth annual event with an in-store performance at Easy Street Records in Seattle’s Queen Anne neighborhood.

Fittingly, the show took place in the store’s vinyl section, where dozens of people packed in between the displays of old-school discs. If they glanced down from the stage the fans found themselves faced with a diverse array of album artwork with artists ranging from Eddy Arnold to Warren Zevon.

Leading up to Record Store Day, Bentley had said that he wishes the country crowd put more value into vinyl.

“Record Store Day is such a great event that has hardly had any attention in country music,” said Bentley. “Some of the coolest exclusive product comes out on this day at indy retailers, and I wanted country fans to be able to get in on the action. I may have a few surprise special guests up my sleeve too. I’m really excited to take over Easy Street for an hour that afternoon…Seattle is such a great music town.”
