Dierks Bentley Visits Bronx School

dierks bentley

Dierks Bentley made the day for some lucky students in The Bronx this week. As part of the Country Music Association (CMA)’s “Keep The Music Playing” program he visited the school and spoke about how important it is for children to stay interested in music, and why music can be used as a sign of expression. After speaking with the students, he then took a tour of their music room which was given $20,000 worth of new instruments and supplies from the program.

Dierks shared the importance of the visit, and why he was glad the program expanded outside Nashville:

“CMA’s “Keep The Music Playing” does so much to enable the future of kids who might not have a hands-on experience with music otherwise. I was honored that they asked me to be their ambassador for the day on behalf of all the Country music artists who donate their time each year to help this cause. They’ve made a huge dent in the music needs in Nashville, so it was really cool to help expand their mission to one of Country music’s top markets, like New York City.”

Every year at CMA Music Fest, the majority of the artists play for free with half of the net proceeds going towards CMA’s Keep The Music Playing program. This tradition began in 2001 when it was re-named from Fan Fair to CMA Music Festival. Between 2001 to 2005, over $800,000 has been donated towards musical education in schools across the United States.

Dierks Bentley’s New Single is “Tip It On Back”

Following his 10th No. one hit as a songwriter and artist, Dierks Bentley is grabbin’ a beer and tippin’ it on back with his new single “Tip It On Back,” available at country radio starting today. Fans can download a special edit of “Tip It On Back” on iTunes as part of Bentley’s upcoming Country & Cold Cans EP out Aug. 21.

“Tip It On Back,” written by Ross Copperman, Tully Kennedy and Jon Nite, chases three consecutive No. one hits off Bentley’s sixth studio album Home.  The new track is carried by Bentley’s signature gritty vocal style and is an ode to a night spent forgetting the heaviness of the world’s problems.

“There seems to be a theme developing in my career this summer…’tip it on back,’ ‘country & cold cans,’ the opening song to the show ‘Weeds,’” laughed Bentley.  “When we were recording this album, I knew right away I wanted this song to be a single, and I really hoped we would get to it sooner than later.  The fans have been asking for it all summer, so it was a no brainer choice for me.”

dierks bentley

Congratulations to Dierks Bentley and the team at EMI / Capitol Records Nashville! He’s earned his tenth number one single of his career with “5-1-5-0″ topping the country music charts this weekend. It’s the third consecutive number one song from his “Home” album, making him 3 for 3 so far. It’s his tenth number one as a songwriter and artist, and tops both the Billboard and Mediabase country charts.

“I have to admit, it’s been a 5150 kinda summer,” said Bentley. “The tailgating before shows has been turned up a notch, and the fans are ready to get crazy.  You can’t ever take for granted the power of a fun, uptempo song that isn’t meant for anything other than kicking off a party.  I’ll also never take for granted having 10 No. one hits on country radio…those guys and the fans have given me an unbelievable career so far.”

In case you just can’t get enough Dierks, catch him tonight on the E!’s brand new reality show “Opening Act” at 10 pm EST. Dierks surprises 16 year-old Oklahoma country singer Kylie Morgan and mentors her at the Grand Ole Opry to prepare her to open for superstar Jason Aldean.
