Dierks Bentley Releases RISER BIRD Game in Celebration of RISER Album

Riser bird

Fans of the short-lived game Flappy Bird will love Dierks Bentley’s version of the game dubbed RISER BIRD.  The game replaces the little yellow flapping bird with the thunderbird image that has grown to represent Bentley’s current project.

“There are so many addicting games about birds right now, and we thought it would be funny to create our own RISER BIRD game,” explains Bentley. “I’m all about finding interesting ways to get music out to the fans, and this is just supposed to be fun.”

The game is available online in celebration of Bentley’s album RISER, released on Tuesday.  Not only can fans enjoy playing the game, but they can also preview Bentley’s new music while playing.

With all this fun, the game could easily become another one of those addicting bird games Bentley described. Good thing too because gamers are eligible for some awesome prizes!  One grand prize winner will win a trip to attend Bentley’s RISER TOUR rehearsal in Nashville, while five additional fans will win autographed copies of RISER.

Think you’re ready to rise to the challenge? Take on RISER BIRD here. If you love the game and the music you hear while playing, buy Dierks Bentley’s latest album here!

Review: Dierks Bentley ‘RISER’

dierks-bentley-riser
From the opening strains of “Bourbon in Kentucky,” the mood is set for RISER, an album that Dierks Bentley describes as his most personal yet. Although the opening track was released as a single, it never quite took off, but sets the mood for an album of depth and reflection, sprinkled with humor and all held together by Bentley’s gravelly rasp.

Speaking to Rolling Stone, Bentley admits that this album comes from a different place than many of his others. Although previous endeavors touched on the heartbreak that ultimately comes with dating and relationships, this album comes from a different heartbreak, the death of his father, and the instability of life with the birth of his third child. “The record I had originally made, my dad was alive at the time and my wife and I had two kids. Life was stabilized,” Bentley says to the magazine. “And then all of a sudden my dad passed away. Then my wife got pregnant and my son was coming, which was just a whole mix of emotions for me.”

The album is truly a journey through Bentley’s psyche, highlighted immediately by his current single “I Hold On” and the equally-reflective “Here On Earth.” The former has Bentley clinging to things such as his old truck, his first guitar, his faith and his wife, while the latter was inspired by the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting and asks the bigger questions about life. “The only answer I’ve found for all this hurt,” Bentley sings, “Is there ain’t no answers here on Earth.”

Dierks Bentley Reveals RISER Track List

Dierks-Bentley-Riser
We’re less than one month away from the release of Dierks Bentley‘s seventh studio album, RISER. The album, hitting stores February 25, will show a more emotional side of Dierks, as its his first release since the death of his father and the birth of his first son.

The album was produced by Ross Copperman and Arturo Buenahora Jr., and includes a bevy of famous friends, including Kacey Musgraves, Chris Stapleton, The Cadillac Three‘s Jaren Johnston and Charlie Worsham.

“It’s important to really know the writers and musicians you work with, to hang out with them and live in the same world,” Bentley explains.  “I have such a romance with Nashville and this community. I drove across the country when I was 19 years old with a dream of just being invited to the party. It’s still wild to me that I get to work with and call so many incredibly talented people my friends.”

Sonically, the album will ring true to a Bentley concert. “It’s the sound in my head that I hear when I’m playing a live show,” said Bentley. “You have one ear monitor in, one ear out, and the crowd’s there and your voice feels really great. There’s a certain amount of gravel to it because you’re tired, but you’re all jacked up on whatever you’re drinking and adrenaline, and the crowds and the fans are there and there’s this feeling, fists in the air—it’s that thing that’s hard to transfer into a studio environment. There’s a rawness.”

RISER Track List:

1. Bourbon In Kentucky  (Hlilary Lindsey, Gordie Sampson, Ryan Tyndell)
** Background vocals by Kacey Musgraves
2. Say You Do  (Shane McAnally, Matt Ramsey, Trever Rosen)
3. I Hold On  (Brett James, Dierks Bentley)
4. Pretty Girls  (Jessi Alexander, Jon Randall, Dierks Bentley)
5. Here On Earth  (Ross Copperman, Ryan Tyndell, Dierks Bentley)
6. Drunk On A Plane  (Josh Kear, Chris Tompkins, Dierks Bentley)
7. Five  (Ross Copperman, Ryan Tyndell, Dierks Bentley)
8. Riser  (Travis Meadows, Steve Moakler)
9. Sounds of Summer  (Zach Crowell, Matt Jenkins, Adam Sanders)
10. Damn These Dreams  (Ross Copperman, Jaren Johnston, Dierks Bentley)
11. Back Porch  (Cary Barlowe, Jaren Johnston, Hillary Lindsey)
12. Hurt Somebody  (Matt Fleener, Shane McAnally, Mark Nesler)
** Background vocals by Chris Stapleton

RISER is available for pre-order at digital retailers beginning tomorrow.  Bentley will kick off his RISER TOUR on May 9 in Charlotte, NC. For more information on the upcoming tour and new music, visit www.dierks.com.

Exclusive: Interview with Brent Rupard

Brent Rupard

“I remember telling my sister when I was very young, ‘I either want to be like Alvin and the Chipmunks or Garth Brooks.’”

That is my favorite quote from my interview with Brent Rupard.

Brent is a proud Kentuckian who took the leap of faith and headed to Nashville in 2010 to pursue his dream and passion – music.

Rupard (pronounced Rooperd he jokingly noted) is from the small town of Shepherdsville, Kentucky. He took a liking to music early in his childhood. After his dad taught him his first guitar chord at age 10, an artist was born as they say and he started writing songs a few years later.

After he made the move to Nashville to pursue his dream career, he soon found a home for his songwriting. With the help of Leann Phelan (ASCAP), he signed a publishing deal with Sea Gayle Music Publishing which is owned by Brad Paisley, Chris DuBois and Frank Rogers.

After about a year of focusing on his writing, he started and is currently working on his debut album. He is hoping for it to be released sometime this year. When asked about his album, he says: “Working on this record has been the highlight of my life. This is a record I’ve always wanted to make. I’ve been fortunate to work on this album with Bryan Simpson and Justin Niebank producing. This record will have the elements of a “rootsy” back porch style with a big ol’ slice of Rock n’ Roll. According to my producer Bryan Simpson, ‘It’s kind of like Garth Brooks meets Levon Helm.’ I have really poured my soul into this project and I hope people get a clear picture of who Brent Rupard is from this debut album.”

Dierks Bentley Announces 2014 Riser Tour

Dierks Bentley

Dierks Bentley caused quite the commotion on Wednesday when he hacked CMT’s Twitter to announce his 2014 RISER TOUR with special guests Chris Young, Chase Rice, and Jon Pardi.

Bentley sent a series of tweets hinting at a major announcement and even posted a selfie to prove he was really behind the tweets before finally tweeting, “Looks like Goldie will be working overtime this year. Y’all ready for a #RISERTOUR?!”  And fans were indeed ready, as Twitter burst with excitement in the following hours.

“This tour is the culmination of everything I’ve been working on for the past two years, both out on the road and in the studio recording RISER,” explains the “I Hold On” singer.  Bentley knows exactly what his fans want – “a kick ass show, an affordable ticket and a good parking lot scene to get the pre-gaming going,” he says, and promises to deliver.

Fans can begin to purchase tickets for the first leg of the tour, which kicks off on May 9 in Charlotte, NC, on January 24.

With the release of his album RISER on February 25 and the announcement of the associated RISER TOUR, the excitement surrounding Dierks Bentley continues to rise – and at this rate, it’s never coming down!

Dierks Bentley Sets “RISER” Release Date for February 25

Dierks-Bentley-Riser

Dierks Bentley‘s highly-anticipated new album, RISER, will hit stores on February 25, 2014. It is Bentley’s seventh studio album and will continue his trend of lyrical substance and pure sonic power combined with his distinct country voice. The album’s lead single, “I Hold On,” is currently climbing the country charts.

“I named the album RISER because the lyrics in that song perfectly articulate who I want to be, who I try to be,” Bentley explains. “There’s a lot of really intense material on this record, but there’s also a lighter side that is equally important in telling the story of the last two years of my life.  When I first started writing for this album, I was in a place of grief over the loss of my dad, but over the course of the next 18 months, my wife and I had our son Knox, and I ended in a place of real joy and gratefulness.  Both sides of that coin are what country music has always been about, and I hope that my fans can feel how much of myself I put into this project. It’s all out on the table, for sure.”
