David Nail Goes Gold!

There’s a lot of gold being handed around these days – gold certification that is! David Nail has just had two of his singles certified gold by the RIAA today. “Red Light” and his latest single “Let It Rain” have both sold over half a million downloads each, something David finds kind of funny:

“It was funny to see ‘Red Light’ starting to pick up downloads again, but I think when people heard or bought ‘Let It Rain,’ they went back and found it. It makes me feel good that the songs I’ve recorded have staying power. It’s not just about being a hit, but it’s the moments the songs contain being kind of timeless.”

David Nail is currently out on tour supporting his new record “The Sound Of A Million Dreams.” His next show is tonight in San Jose, California.

Video Picks Of The Week: February 12, 2012

Reba & Kelly

Hey country music friends…

It’s time for our “Video Picks of the Week!”

Music Video

This week’s music video is Lee Ann Womack, “I Hope You Dance.” The song was the lead single from her 2000 album of the same title, and a number one, cross-over mega hit.

One word comes to mind for me with this song… masterpiece. It is one of my favorite songs of all-time and definitely makes my top five. The lyrics and message are amazing, Womack’s voice is beautiful as always, and the video is very sweet.

“I Hope You Dance” is just one of those times in music when everything aligns together and is perfect.

Congratulations to David Nail who has finally earned the number one spot with his single “Let It Rain” after forty eight weeks on the charts. “Let It Rain,” the lead song from his latest album “The Sound Of A Million Dreams,” is David’s first number one song on the Mediabase country singles charts.

“When you’re 25 weeks in and you believe in a song, but you’re stuck in the middle of the chart, it’s hard to think you’re gonna get there,” said David, “and yet, you can’t think that it won’t go all the way. I am a very blessed and lucky man. because not only did my label never give up on me, but so many people at country radio hung in there with us, too. It’s been a long road, but – well, we’re here, and it feels good.”

David is currently on tour supporting his album, with his next stop January 22nd in Park City, Utah at the Sundance Film Festival. He’ll perform there the next night as well before heading off to Oxford, Ohio on January 25th at the Brick Street Bar. For a full list of tour dates, visit his official website.

Looks like country music really will take over the World Series. David Nail will perform “God Bless America” during the seventh inning stretch of game 7 of the MLB’s World Series tonight on FOX.

“I’m truly honored to be asked to sing ‘God Bless America’ tonight. Obviously being from Missouri and a Cardinal fan, just to be able to watch game seven in person is a once in a lifetime experience in itself.”

David will also appear on GAC’s “Day Jobs” Sunday night at 8 pm EST. He’ll return his old job at a Dairy Queen in his home state of Missouri.

REVIEW: David Nail – The Sound Of A Million Dreams

David Nail.

David Nail might not be releasing his latest album “The Sound Of A Million Dreams” until November 15th, but we received an advanced copy in our inbox this morning from the team at MCA Nashville. This was an album I was interested in hearing by the Grammy-nominated singer who is out touring with Taylor Swift. He called in favors from buddies Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood of Lady Antebellum, and Adam Hood for tracks on the record. Pretty impressive! The 11-track album features a little bit of something for everyone, packaged neatly together.

“The Sound Of A Million Dreams” is the follow-up album to David’s critically acclaimed “I’m About To Come Alive.” His previous album garnered him both a Grammy Nomination (“Best Male Country Vocal Performance – Red Light”), and an Academy of Country Music nomination (“Single Of The Year – Red Light”). This effort is just as strong with his previous, with nothing too loud or out of place on the record. It’s an interesting work put together, where David relies more on that of a choir than an acoustic guitar or mandolin. It’s an album that I feel was influenced by his time spent with Lady Antebellum on tour.

David Nail To Make Orchestral Debut

David Nail is set to make his symphony orchestra debut with the Colorado Orchestra October 8th in Denver. The orchestra, lead by Scott O’Neil, will play at the Denver Boettcher Concert Hall at 7:30. They will blend David’s country with the 79-piece orchestra and perform his songs “Red Light,” “Let It Rain,” “Turning Home,” and even “Strangers On A Train” which was originally recorded with Miranda Lambert performing backing vocals. There are still tickets for the concert starting at only $25!

This will be David’s first orchestral performance, but it isn’t the first groundbreaking performance for the Colorado Orchestra. They’ve become known for their innovative, one-of-a-kind performances with some music heavy-weights including Chicago, Sarah McLachlan, and Boys II Men.
