MCA Nashville’s David Nail was forced to cancel his show Friday night due to a doctor ordered vocal rest. He was scheduled to play in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on the 19th but suffered a sudden case of laryngitis. After consulting with a medical professi0nal, he was told to cancel his show and go on immediate vocal rest.
David shared the bad news on Twitter before his show was supposed to happen:
“Voice in bad shape … Needing a miracle. Gonna go as long as I can tonight! Scary situation for any singer when the sound won’t come … Say a prayer for my chords!”
David was able to perform Saturday night in Chicago on October 20th. No future tour dates are expected to be affected by the vocal rest. His latest album “1979″ is available digitally right now, and features his hit cover of Adele’s “Someone Like You.”
This post is aimed at (primarily) my fellow Floridians as they anticipate and prepare for Tropical Storm/Hurricane Isaac. All of you who have been through one of these dreaded storms know that when the electricity goes out, it can be days (sometimes weeks) before it is restored. We at Keepin’ It Country thought it would be fun to give you some last minute storm savvy tunes to load on to your iPods. Hey, if you can’t avoid Isaac, welcome him with open arms … and great weather-related music!
MCA Nashville artist David Nail has some pretty exciting news. He’ll be heading out on his own tour this fall starting on September 6th in Ohio. He’s been out on the road opening for major artists, but he’ll be headlining his own sets in scaled-down performances across the United States.
MCA Nashville artist David Nail has announced plans for a charity concert benefiting the Cancers And Blood Disorders Auxiliary of Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation for Wednesday, September 26th. “Going Country For A Cure” will be held at Jergel’s Rhythm Grille in Pittsburgh. Proceeds from the event will go towards the Payton Wright Foundation. Gwen Sebastian will open up the show for David.
“The story of how brave little Payton was caught my attention, then captured my heart,” said David. “To see this little girl fight so hard, never give up and be so positive… You realize what struggle really is, and you want to do whatever you can so no more children have to face this sort of terrible illness.”
David first heard about Payton’s battle with a brain cancer in 2006, and he’s been touched by her story ever since. It was during an ESPN basketball broadcast in December 2006, when the announcer was talking about Payton, when David heard her story and immediately reached out to her father. David told Payton’s family that he’d do anything he could to support the foundation, and will be headlining the charity concert.
Tickets are only $25 and are on-sale right now, with VIP tickets, which include a buffet dinner, VIP access, and a meet-and-greet with David for $100 each. To get your tickets for a great cause, or for more information on the event, visit Going Country For A Cure’s ticketing page.
Looks like the music industry is finally recognizing the talent David Nail has. The country singer’s beautiful version of Adele’s “Someone Like You” is featured all day today on VEVO’s homepage, and will be slotted into random country music playlists all day today. His cover will also appear on the country music playlists on sister site YouTube.
“We did the video just for friends who’d heard me sing the song backstage and wanted to have access to it. It brings so many things out of you as a vocalist, so I wanted to make sure the visuals lived up to it, but I never thought anyone would pay attention to it. I certainly didn’t expect it to turn into something like this,” said David.
Check out David’s version of Adele’s hit pop song here and tell us which version you like the best – the original or the remake. Here’s hoping for a David and Adele future Crossroads episode!
We’ve always been huge fans of the unbelievably talented David Nail, and this video only proves why. Flanked by only a piano player, Nail adds his powerful country twang to the already haunting lyrics. Check out David’s soulful, stripped down country rendition of Adele‘s “Someone Like You.” Let us know if you love it as much as we do!

There’s a lot of gold being handed around these days – gold certification that is! David Nail has just had two of his singles certified gold by the RIAA today. “Red Light” and his latest single “Let It Rain” have both sold over half a million downloads each, something David finds kind of funny:
“It was funny to see ‘Red Light’ starting to pick up downloads again, but I think when people heard or bought ‘Let It Rain,’ they went back and found it. It makes me feel good that the songs I’ve recorded have staying power. It’s not just about being a hit, but it’s the moments the songs contain being kind of timeless.”
David Nail is currently out on tour supporting his new record “The Sound Of A Million Dreams.” His next show is tonight in San Jose, California.
