Darius Rucker Gets Pranked

Darius Rucker.

Darius Rucker was the victim of the KNIX morning show prank cold call series. The Ben & Matt in the Morning show in Pheonix, Arizona called Rucker pretending to offer him a lead role in an upcoming Morgan Freeman movie.

With an awesome impersonation of Freeman, the pair convinced Rucker that it really was the actor calling, and had played him along to thinking he was going to play Alan Jackson in an upcoming movie based on the singer’s life. When confused about why he would play a white singer, “Freeman” told him he knew a great makeup artist.

Rucker was a good sport throughout the call, which you can listen to

The second annual “Darius and Friends” charity concert line-up was announced this morning. Darius Rucker has invited friends Jarrod Niemann, Rodney Atkins, Justin Moore and Easton Corbin to join him in a benefit concert for St. Jude’s Hospital. It’s already a sold-out event and all proceeds will go directly to the hospital.

The Wildhorse Saloon in downtown Nashville will once again host the event, with doors opening at 6 pm CST and the concert opening at 8 pm CST.

“The first event was so great that we wanted to keep that same theme for this year: artists coming together for a great cause.”

The 2010 event was the first benefit concert hosted by Rucker for St. Jude’s and raised over $48,000 for the hospital. Rucker is hoping to beat that number this year.

Darius Rucker avoids Fan Attack

Looks like someone had a little too much drink at a Darius Rucker concert in Boca Raton. During his performance of “History In The Making” from his first country album, Learn To Live, a fan jumped on-stage as Rucker’s back was turned to the audience. Not missing a beat, security knocked the fan down then carried the man off stage.

Rucker continued to sing, without missing a note, and acting like nothing went wrong with the rest of the song. Check out the video footage under the cut below. It all goes down around 1:15 in the video.
