Craig Morgan’s Charity Weekend Raises $95,000 for Billy’s Place

Craig Morgan.

This year, Craig Morgan’s Charity Motocross Ride, Concert and Sporting Clay Shoot raised more than the previous two years – more than $95,000 – and that makes for a very happy Morgan.

Morgan was quoted as saying this about the results of this year’s event:

“It’s amazing how much this event has grown over the last 5 years and I’m over-the-top grateful to everyone from our celebrity friends and the Dickson and Middle Tennessee communities for their support. We raised a record high amount this year for Billy’s Place and I’m thankful for the opportunity to do more for the children and families of Dickson. I already can’t wait to do it again next year!”

Proceeds from the weekend’s activities benefit Billy’s Place, which is supporting children’s causes in Middle Tennessee and working toward building a home for temporarily displaced children in Morgan’s hometown of Dickson, just outside Nashville.

REVIEW: Craig Morgan – This Ole Boy

Craig Morgan.

Craig Morgan is releasing his first single from his new home, Black River Music Group. “This Ole Boy” is a fun little song that’s a big step up from his previous release of “Still A Little Chicken Left On That Bone.” It’s not going to be a number one single by any means, but it should shoot Morgan back into the top 20 on the Mediabase country singles chart. It’ll be interesting to see how his new label will handle this single.

Morgan’s always been a bipolar kind of artist. He can come out with moving singles with great vocals like “This Ain’t Nothing” or release singles that make you wonder what happened to that voice. He’s never been as successful as he is talented, and part of that is because of the song choices he’s made over his career. While “This Ole Boy” won’t be the song to shoot him into superstardom, it’s at least a step in the right direction since the last few songs he’s released.

Craig Morgan is a “Good Ole Boy”

Craig Morgan.

Craig Morgan is set to release his first single on his new label, Black River Entertainment, this month. Titled “Good Ole Boy,” will be shipped out to radio on June 21st. Described as a country love song, the single was co-written by Rhett Atkins, Ben Hayslip and Dallas Davidson.

Craig signed with Black River Entertainment in April after amicably splitting from his label home of three years, BNA.

His album will be released sometime early 2012.
