It’s already been a great summer for the guys of Florida Georgia Line as their first single “Cruise” climbs the country charts, but things just got even better! Yesterday, the duo signed their first-ever major record deal with Republic Nashville/BMLG. Additionally, Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley were selected for coveted opening slots on dates across the nation with Jake Owen and Brantley Gilbert, as well as the annual Country Throwdown Tour.
“Florida Georgia Line has built a gigantic army of loyal fans, one by one, door to door, who have rocked with them at shows all across the USA and Canada! Their talent, energy and work ethic are second to none and we could be no more proud to welcome Tyler and Brian into the Republic Nashville family,” said Republic Nashville President and Big Machine Label Group EVP Jimmy Harnen.
“What an honor and a blessing to be a part of such a great team and awesome label… This is another step in the FGL journey and I’m so pumped to see where this leads!” said Hubbard.
Kelley echoed his band mate’s excitement, “Our family just got bigger! We are so excited to work with everyone at the label. It’s a dream come true. We are ready to rock, ready to work and ready for the ride of our lives!”
The guys of Florida Georgia Line hit the stage of WGN’s Midday News to perform their debut single “Cruise” and the fan-fave “Tip It Back.” Both tracks appear on their “It’s Just What We Do” EP. The duo, Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard, got a chance to taste Chicago, stopping at Murphy’s Bleachers to sample some hot dogs, polish sausage and wings. They’ll be appearing in Chicago tomorrow with the Country Throwdown Tour at Toyota Park.
Country newcomers Florida Georgia Line are proud to join forces with the Boot Campaign in support of the troops. The duo, Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard, have pledged their commitment to the cause by putting on their own combat boots to literally “take a walk in a soldier’s shoes.”
For the band, this is a cause that hits close to home. “Anything that we can do to help our soldiers past, present and future and their families, we are thankful to be a part of. This cause really hits close to home; my uncle and cousin both served overseas and my grandfather was awarded two purple hearts during his active duty. We are proud to be a part of The Boot Campaign and thrilled to have them on the road with us for the Country Throwdown Tour. We hope to see all the country fans at the show put their boots on and join us in supporting our veterans as they return home,” says Kelley.
Florida Georgia Line is in good company, as other celebrity supporters of the Boot Campaign include Dolly Parton, The Rock, FX’s Cast of Sons Of Anarchy, Troy Aikman, Brantley Gilbert, Eli Young Band, George Jones and Gary Allan. Supporters of the cause purchase boots, with all proceeds going to military charities, to put on in order to “symbolically walk in the shoes of our military men and women to remember their service and sacrifice.”

They may be a new name in country music, but the guys of Florida Georgia Line (FGL) are quickly cruising up the country radio charts with their first single “Cruise.” The country rock duo’s summertime anthem has already hit the Top 50 on the Music Row Country Breakout Chart, selling over 20,000 copies in just seven weeks.
“Cruise” is featured on their new Big Loud Mountain EP “It’z Just What We Do” produced by Joey Moi (Jake Owen, Nickelback). The EP debuted at number 35 on Billboard’s Country Albums Chart and the EP is available at all digital retailers.
“Cruise” was written by FGL’s Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley along with Joey Moi, Chase Rice and Jesse Rice and is quickly becoming a fan favorite during live shows. It has received rave reviews from critics and country radio. SiriusXM recently named the track a Highway Find and Music Row Magazine awarded the track the Discovery Award. The mag describes the song, saying, “After an a cappella intro, this takes off like a speedboat on a glassy lake. The track is rushing and wooshing, and the voices are sprightly. What more do you want? Get on board.” American Songwriter notes, “…it’s likely already attached itself into the heads of everyone who’s listened to it…”
This up and coming duo will be cruising across the U.S. all summer long with the 2012 Country Throwdown Tour with Gary Allan, Rodney Atkins, and Justin Moore.
