Well here’s a little something I didn’t see coming. CMT announced plans today that they will join forces with Ryan Seacrest Productions for a brand-new reality television series. The working title for the new 8-episode series, which will air in April, is “Melissa And Tye: A New Reality.” Starring in the show will be actress Melissa Rycroft who will be moving to Los Angeles from Texas to pursue her Hollywood dreams.
EVP of Development and Programming Jayson Dismore says:
“America has fallen in love with Melissa Rycroft, but she has been in the homes of CMT viewers since her time on ‘Dallas Cowboys Making the Team.’ We are excited to have her back on CMT as she gives us access to her new role as wife, mother and someone who is now in the glare of the Hollywood spotlight.”
Ryan Seacrest, who will be serving as executive producer on the series, is pretty excited about his new adventure with CMT.
“Melissa has had an interesting life journey – from having her heartbroken to marriage and motherhood – that we believe many people will relate to. I’ve had a chance to work with her, and I think everyone will appreciate her tenacity and spirit as she pursues her Hollywood dream. She’s bound to have some ups and downs, and we’re hoping audiences will want to tag along for the ride.”
The series will follow Melissa and her new husband Tye Strickland as they struggle to make a long-distance relationship work for themselves and their children.
Lauren Alaina fans have been waiting for this moment for quite a few weeks now! At 8a.m. ET/PT, CMT will debut Lauren Alaina’s new music video, “Georgia Peaches.” The video will be part of a 15-minute behind-the-scenes special including footage from the video shoot and an interview with Lauren.

Hosted by Rob Lowe, the 90-minute special will honor five country music superstars – Jason Aldean, Kenny Chesney, Lady Antebellum, Brad Paisley, and Taylor Swift. The event will include performances by the honorees themselves as well as some of their fellow artists such as Gavin DeGraw, The All-American Rejects, Joe Walsh and The Avett Brothers. Small town boy or a guy from a big city? That’s the choice Devin Grissom is going to have to make in CMT’s new reality television series “Sweet Home Alabama.” She’s a University of Alabama public relations major that needs that extra help to find the love she’s been looking for. CMT rounded up 20 men from different backgrounds, (half from small towns and the other half from big cities), and will get her pick from the bunch of them. It’s the bachelorette – country style.
The men have been flown in to Alabama from all over the country, including New York, Los Angeles, and Mississippi, among other states. If you think it’s just another “Bachelor” dating show copycat, you’re wrong. In an interview with Country Weekly, Devin explains the difference between “Sweet Home Alabama” and “The Bachelor.”
“First, they wanted to make sure that I was completely comfortable. They didn’t ask me to do anything I was not comfortable with. Plus, when I had to reject a guy, I would sit down with him on the show and talk with him and explain why I made the decision I did.”
The show debuts on CMT on Thursday, July 14th at 9 pm EST.
