We can’t say enough about the fierce females who are a huge part of today’s country music. CMT echoes our sentiment, as it gives nods to five upcoming country music starlets who are on their way to striking gold (or platinum) in the genre we all know and love.
This year’s “Next Women of Country” are: Lindsay Ell, Lucy Hale, Nikki Lane, Angaleena Presley, and Natalie Stovall & the Drive. CMT chose these particular ladies for their voices, but also for their music in general. CMT coins each of these talented artists as the types of “women [who] dig deep and find the stories and the lyrics that make listeners stop and think.”
You can find out more about each of these artists by visiting NextWomen.CMT.com, or by checking out the hashtag #NextWomen on Twitter.
Multi-platinum selling recording artist, Sara Evans, is set to release her highly anticipated seventh studio album, Slow Me Down, on March 11th. Starting today, fans can stream the full album exclusively at saraevans.CMT.com and on the recently launched CMT Artists App. The album is also available for pre-order at http://smarturl.it/itunesslowmedown and fans will instantly receive a copy of the title track “Slow Me Down,” which is steadily climbing the charts.
Slow Me Down comes over two years after the release of Stronger, Evans’ second Billboard Country Album Chart #1. Slow Me Down is Sara Evans at her finest, with her signature powerful vocals that will serve as a reminder of why she has had a level of success reserved for few. Evans co-wrote three of the album’s eleven tracks and some of Nashville’s finest songwriters are represented on the album. Slow Me Down includes Evans collaborating on three tracks: “Better Off” with country legend Vince Gill; “Can’t Stop Loving You” a duet with Isaac Slade of The Fray; and a cover of Gavin DeGraw’s “Not Over You,” which features Gavin singing harmonies. This album is what fans have waited for and newcomers are bound to fall in love with.

We all know that Kip Moore had a big year in 2013, but expect him to make an even bigger name for himself in 2014. I personally just cannot get enough of his raspy yet smooth vocals; he’s one of my new favorite country voices.
After great success with “Somethin’ ‘Bout A Truck,” “Beer Money” and “Hey Pretty Girl,” the ACM “New Artist of the Year” finalist recently released his latest single, “Young Love.”
With the song currently climbing the charts, CMT and iHeartRadio premiered the music video yesterday.

Bentley sent a series of tweets hinting at a major announcement and even posted a selfie to prove he was really behind the tweets before finally tweeting, “Looks like Goldie will be working overtime this year. Y’all ready for a #RISERTOUR?!” And fans were indeed ready, as Twitter burst with excitement in the following hours.
“This tour is the culmination of everything I’ve been working on for the past two years, both out on the road and in the studio recording RISER,” explains the “I Hold On” singer. Bentley knows exactly what his fans want – “a kick ass show, an affordable ticket and a good parking lot scene to get the pre-gaming going,” he says, and promises to deliver.
Fans can begin to purchase tickets for the first leg of the tour, which kicks off on May 9 in Charlotte, NC, on January 24.
With the release of his album RISER on February 25 and the announcement of the associated RISER TOUR, the excitement surrounding Dierks Bentley continues to rise – and at this rate, it’s never coming down!

In today’s music, it is common to hear a remix of some of your favorite songs; even heartfelt power ballads have turned into dance hits with the help of some of music’s most talented DJs. And just when you thought DJ’ing couldn’t become anymore unique, enter Dee Jay Silver, the first DJ to be signed to a major Nashville record label. Dee Jay has played in premier venues in virtually every major market in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, but has ultimately found his home in Nashville. Whether he is touring with Jason Aldean and playing in sold out stadiums, performing on the American Country Awards, or remixing the work of some of country’s best known artists, Dee Jay is bringing his talents to the fans of country music in a myriad of ways. Dee Jay took some time out of his day of “bad television” while he recovered from the ACAs in Las Vegas to talk with me about his music, his favorite tour stop to date, and his future plans (which included getting back to Nashville stat!).
I recently had the great pleasure of interviewing indie country artist, Steven Clawson.
Steven is a regular on the Nashville music scene, and you may have seen him playing around town if you’re from the area. He has released 3 albums independently: Southern Soul, Restless, and Miles To Go; and is looking forward to the next.
He also just released a charity single “This Time Each Year”, a song near and dear to his heart, with all proceeds benefiting Second Harvest Food Bank in Nashville. You can download the song here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/this-time-each-year-single/id738592439.
You may remember Steven as the runner-up on CMT’s Next Superstar. I decided that I want him to try out for The Voice and be on Team Blake. I think he liked my idea.
After getting to know Steven a bit, he may be one of my new favorite people. Aside from his talent, he’s genuinely kind, appreciative, and very dedicated to his music career.
He told me that this quote best sums up his songwriting: “I hold the pen, God writes the songs.” If you’re unfamiliar with Steven and his music, he’s someone I really recommend you get to know.
Here is our interview….
When you speak to Caroline Kole (or hear her speak), you cannot even fathom that she is a teenager. While we had been familiar with Caroline’s name in the past, we fell in love with her during the recent CMA Awards preshow when she walked the red carpet. Caroline has an intelligence, wit, and poise about her that makes her quite the teenage anomaly. However, when Caroline explained to us that she has been involved in music for half of her life, it became clear that Caroline, as a whole, is an exception to the rule. While you may find Caroline studying for an upcoming Physics test and keeping up-to-date on her school assignments one day, you could find her opening for Reba McEntire the next. And, by virtue of her humble, grateful attitude, Caroline might seem like an everyday teenager … but let’s be real, there is nothing run of the mill about her!
Cassadee Pope‘s debut country album will be hitting stores on October 8th. In anticipation of the album release, CMT will be airing a doc-u-series, Frame By Frame, all about Cassadee. The show will follow Cassadee while she is recording in the studio, interviewing with different radio stations throughout the country, and touring with country mega trio, Rascal Flatts.
Frame By Frame will premiere on CMT on Friday, October 4th, at 10:00pm EST/9:00pm CST. Make sure to tune in and/or set your DVRs for a chance to get a glimpse into the process of Cassadee recording her first country album and all the promotion that goes along with the project.
Country trio The Band Perry and pop/rock group Fall Out Boy will team up for the next installment of CMT Crossroads. The groups will swap stories and vocals on one another’s songs in front of an invitation-only audience in Nashville on October 2nd. The show will air on CMT on a date to be determined.
CMT Crossroads is probably one of the best music concepts in decades. Pairing our favorite country artists with artists from other genres, the show always brings stellar collaborations.
This Friday (Sept. 13th), Crossroads will present Lady Antebellum and Stevie Nicks! The episode airs at 10 pm ET on CMT. Performances will feature hits from both song catalogues including Nicks’ “Edge of Seventeen,” “Landslide,” and “Rhiannon,” in addition to Lady A’s “Need You Now,” “Love Don’t Live Here,” and “Golden.” Set your DVR’s!
CMT recorded the performance last spring in Los Angeles before the trio’s Hillary Scott gave birth to her first child this summer. Lady A is currently on hiatus, but will return in November with a bang with their Take Me Downtown Tour!
