Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood Expect The Unexpected
As Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood prepare to host the CMA Awards for the fourth consecutive year, they’ve learned to expect the unexpected.
“You just keep it moving and you always have a job to do no matter what happens,” said Underwood.
The longtime friends, who scored a No. 1 hit this year with the duet “Remind Me” (written by Paisley, Chris DuBois and Kelley Lovelace), have learned to roll with the punches in juggling their hosting duties. They’ve also both become more acutely aware of the ticking of the clock.
“I had 40 seconds to change my entire outfit,” Underwood recalled of one particularly tight wardrobe change during the 2010 CMA Awards.
“She didn’t make it in rehearsal,” Paisley interjected. “She was a minute late.”
“My zipper busted in rehearsal,” Underwood explained. “I was like, ‘Don’t worry. I’ll make it work. I’ll make it.’”
And she did. She substituted another dress and the millions watching the ABC live telecast would never have known a stressful rehearsal had preceded the flawless live show.
As the three-hour broadcast neared its end, Underwood and Paisley experienced a new challenge, rarely heard of during an awards show. “We were two minutes under going into Entertainer of the Year,” Paisley said of the unexpected surplus on the clock.
“That part is scary,” admitted Underwood. “That never happens. You’re never under. You’re always over.”
CMAs Add More Performers
For the first time since 2008, the Country Music Association (CMA) Awards will have every New Artist nominee perform during the broadcast, they confirmed to The Boot. Eric Church, Luke Bryan, Chris Young, Thompson Square and The Band Perry will each get a performance spot on the November 9th broadcast on ABC.
This is the second time The Band Perry have performed on the CMA Awards; they sang “If I Die Young” live on the program last year. They have five nominations this year, with their single up for both Single and Song Of The Year. It’s the second consecutive year that Luke Bryan and Chris Young have been up for New Artist Of The Year. Last year’s winner was the Zac Brown Band. It’s the first CMA nomination for Eric Church. Thompson Square received a nomination for Vocal Duo Of The Year as well as New Artist Of The Year.
Other previously announced performers for the packed award show include co-hosts Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood for “Remind Me,” Rascal Flatts with Natasha Bedingfield for “Easy,” Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Keith Urban, Taylor Swift, Kenny Chesney with Grace Potter for “You And Tequila,” Lady Antebellum, and Jason Aldean. Additional performers and presenters will be announced as it gets closer.
Natasha Bedingfied Lets A Little Secret Slip
Natasha Bedingfield accidentally let a little secret out a little early in an interview with Billboard. The pop singer revealed that she will sing her hit duet “Easy” with the newest members of the Grand Ole Opry, Rascal Flatts, at the CMA Awards November 9th. It will be the first CMA awards performance for the singer. It has not been announced yet by the Country Music Association or Rascal Flatts, but we’ll take this one as a guarantee!

Radio & Network Drama At CMA Awards?
Could it be a case of sour grapes? All Access is reporting today that CBS has pulled all of its affiliate radio stations out of the radio remotes during the Country Music Association Awards (CMA) after the award show executives decided to renew their contract with ABC for exclusive airing of the award show for the next few years.
CBS was the former home of the award show until ABC got it in 2005.
Radio stations under CBS’ banner that are effected by this decision include WYCD-Detroit, KILT-Houston, KMPS-Seattle, WSOC-Charlotte, and WUSN-Chicago among many others.
Networks Battling Over Rights to 2012 CMA Awards
Country music is definitely the “in” thing right now. How can you tell? Well, when three major networks are in a bidding war to air one the Country Music Association Awards next year, that’s how. CBS, NBC and ABC have all placed large bids to host the country award show, with a deal expected to be announced at the end of the month. The 45th Annual Country Music Association (CMA) awards made a very special announcement on their Facebook page this morning.
Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood are returning to co-host the CMA Awards together again this year. They’ve been the hosts of the award show every year since 2008. The pair announced their return in a YouTube video on the set of Paisley’s “Remind Me” music video.

CMA Awards to Make Major Announcement Monday Morning
Two country superstars are gearing up for this November’s Country Music Association (CMA) awards. They will be making a major announcement on the official Facebook fan page for the CMA awards at 10 CT / 11 am EST on Monday. There’s no hint to what it will be, but I suspect it’ll be the official word on who the co-hosts are this year.

Nominations Begin Today for 2011 CMA Awards
The first round of ballots are about to be sent out to all voting members of the Country Music Association today for the 45th Annual CMA Awards in November. An official e-mail made the rounds this morning announcing the first round of ballots starting today, June 27th, until July 13th, 2011 at 5 pm CST / 6 pm EST.
The second ballot process will be between August 9th to the 23rd at 5 pm CT / 6 pm EST. The final nominees will be announced mid-September.
The 2011 CMA Awards air live from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee on November 9th, 8 pm EST on ABC. Last year Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert stole the show and walked away with the most trophies; and becoming the first country music couple since Tim McGraw and Faith Hill to win female and male vocalist awards on the same night.

CMA Awards to air live on ABC November 9th
The Country Music Association in partnership with ABC have announced that the 45th annual CMA Awards will air live on November 9th, 2011 from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee at 8 pm EST. While no presenters or performers have yet to be announced, it’s expected that Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley will once again co-host the event.
“The CMA Awards recognizes the best in the format – that’s what makes this ‘Country Music’s Biggest Night’,” said Steve Moore, CMA Chief Executive Officer. “The CMA Awards is one of the most highly anticipated events for our industry each year. It’s a night to honor our finest performers, songwriters, record producers, musicians, and music video directors.”
The 2010 CMA Awards was the No. 1 entertainment show for the week among the key advertising Adults 18-49 sales demographic. The special beat its nearest competition by 5.7 million viewers and by 74 percent in Adults 18-49, according to Nielsen.
The eligibility period for the 2011 CMA Awards is July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011. All voting for “The 45th Annual CMA Awards” will be conducted online. The first ballot and instructions will be e-mailed June 27 to CMA members in good standing who are eligible to vote. Voting for the first ballot closes at 5:00 PM/CT, July 13.
