When Cole Swindell stepped on the stage of a nightclub in downtown Nashville earlier this week, he thought he was going to play a few songs for a taping of CMT Listen Up in front of a live audience of some of his biggest fans. Little did he know, his label, Warner Music Nashville, had quite the surprise in store for the singer.
Swindell was presented with two certification plaques for his hit single “Chillin’ It,” one in honor of the song’s RIAA gold certification for 500,000 downloads and another for its platinum certification for 1 million downloads.
“You only get a first single once,” Swindell explained to the audience. “The fact that it was accepted by not only radio but over 1 million fans is beyond anything I could ever have dreamed up. This is something I will never forget.”
Fans can hear Swindell sing “Chillin It’” as well as his latest single “Hope You Get Lonely Tonight” on tour with Luke Bryan.
