Casey James Takes On Dramatic Role

casey james

Singer-songwriter Casey James debuted his brand new, and dramatic, music video for “Cryin’ On A Suitcase” this morning on his official website. While the music video is only available exclusively on his website today, it will be available on all other outlets on August 27th. The Nashville-filmed music video shows a dramatic side of Casey as he acts out the story of the single.

“This is the first opportunity I’ve had to ‘play a character’ in a video,” shares Casey. “My focus is always the music, but it was a lot of fun working outside my comfort zone. I wanted to make sure that the small amount of acting would be believable, and I feel like it is. I’m very proud of the video, and I can’t wait for everyone to see it.”

“Cryin’ On A Suitcase” is the second single from Casey’s debut country music record. It’s currently number 29 on Country Aircheck and number 33 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles Chart. Casey’s self-titled album made its debut at number two on Billboard Country Albums Chart on its release. He wrote or co-wrote nine of the eleven tracks on the record.

We’ll post the music video once its available on YouTube or VEVO, but make sure you check out Casey’s site to see it now and let us know what you think!

Casey James Performs in Reagan National Airport

AMERICAN IDOL: Casey James. CR: Nino Munoz/ FOX.

Singer-Songwriter Casey James teamed-up with US Airways to perform in Washington D.C.’s Reagan National Airport in celebration of their 30 Days for DC promotion. Casey performed an acoustic set that included his new single, “Crying On A Suitcase.” Fitting, right? The performance was held on the concourse level of National Hall.

“I can’t think of a more appropriate place to sing “Crying On A Suitcase,” said Casey.  “It’s an emotional song and who hasn’t been in that spot where your pride is coming between you and someone you love. This song is about that moment when you have to make that decision to stay or go and you make the choice to go after the one you love,” he continued.

In addition to the performance, Casey will be the featured artist in US Airways Magazine for the month of November.  Casey’s self-titled album debuted at Number 2 on the Billboard Country Album Chart upon its release and he co-wrote 9 of the 11 tracks on the album.

The concert is part of US Airways’ month-long campaign of promotions, surprises and events that give back to the Washington, D.C. community called “30 Days for D.C.”  The campaign celebrates the airline’s expanded service from Reagan National.  The campaign kicked-off on July 7 and will last through August 5. More information and a calendar of events for the final days is available at http://www.30daysfordc.com.

EXCLUSIVE: Interview with Casey James

casey james

Casey James is one hard working man. I met him for the first time back on my birthday in February at a lunch put together by the Sony Music Nashville Digital team, but we never had the chance to sit down and chat until now. In our exclusive interview with Casey we ask him some of his fans most asked questions: on the music video for “Crying On A Suitcase,” what it was like finally releasing his album, and if country music was always the genre he wanted to be in. He’s come a long way in just a few short years, and it was time to introduce our fans to one of the more talented artists on radio right now.

Casey released his debut self-titled album earlier this year to great reviews. He’s proving that you don’t need to be a reality show winner, whether it be The Voice, American Idol, or X-Factor, to have a place in country music. A songwriter, he co-produced his own album – which is rare for debuts. Casey will go far and things are just starting for him, so get to know Casey before you start hearing him all over your radio – which you will be.

Casey James Releases New Single “Crying on a Suitcase”

AMERICAN IDOL: Casey James. CR: Nino Munoz/ FOX.

19 Recordings/BNA Records artist Casey James is releasing his new single “Crying on a Suitcase” as a follow-up to his hit debut, “Let’s Don’t Call It A Night.” The song is available on iTunes and on James’s self-titled debut album. It is one of the singer’s favorite tracks. “I’m excited that ‘Crying On A Suitcase’ is my new single,” shares Casey. “This song is so intense and emotional. The idea of someone right on the verge of losing their loved one, and doing everything to keep it from happening. Who hasn’t been there?”

Casey just wrapped up a slew of appearances at CMA Festival, including performances, autograph signings and meet and greets. He co-hosted the Opry Trust Fund’s Guitars of the Stars Auction with Bill Cody, which raised over $20,000, including $2,400 for a guitar signed by James.
