Snagajob, America’s largest hourly employment network for job seekers and employers, announced today a national contest to find the best undiscovered musical talent. The Hourly Gig invites hourly employees and job seekers to submit videos of original songs that highlight their skills for a chance to perform as the opening act at the Brantley Gilbert concert at Innsbrook After Hours at the Snagajob Pavilion in Richmond, Va., on Sept. 19, 2012.

“Some of today’s biggest stars started out in hourly jobs because they offered a flexible schedule that allowed them to pursue other passions like singing or playing in a band,” said Jason Hamilton, vice president of marketing for Snagajob. “The Hourly Gig gives hourly employees and job seekers a forum to share their musical talent and, for the winner, an opportunity to perform at one of Richmond’s largest concert venues. We’re excited to give a member of the hourly worker community a chance to break into the music industry.”

Participants can upload videos featuring original songs, which should not exceed three minutes in length, to YouTube and submit links to those videos at www.snagajob.com/hourlygig. Submissions will be accepted Aug. 16-29, 2012.

Once the submission period has closed, a panel of judges will narrow the submissions to five finalists, and public voting on the finalists will be held Sept. 5 – 12, 2012. Popular vote will determine the winner, who will receive an expenses-paid trip to Richmond, Va., to perform an opening set at the Sept. 19, 2012, Innsbrook After Hours concert, held at the Snagajob Pavilion. The concert’s headliner, Gilbert, is a country-rock singer-songwriter who has hit No. 1 on the Hot Country Songs chart twice, most recently in July 2012 with “You don’t know her like I do.”

The contest is open to U.S. residents, ages 14 and older who are currently working in or searching for an hourly job. Both group and solo acts are eligible.

Florida Georgia Line Lace Up Their Boots in Support of the Troops

Country newcomers Florida Georgia Line are proud to join forces with the Boot Campaign in support of the troops. The duo, Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard, have pledged their commitment to the cause by putting on their own combat boots to literally “take a walk in a soldier’s shoes.”

For the band, this is a cause that hits close to home. “Anything that we can do to help our soldiers past, present and future and their families, we are thankful to be a part of. This cause really hits close to home; my uncle and cousin both served overseas and my grandfather was awarded two purple hearts during his active duty. We are proud to be a part of The Boot Campaign and thrilled to have them on the road with us for the Country Throwdown Tour. We hope to see all the country fans at the show put their boots on and join us in supporting our veterans as they return home,” says Kelley.

Florida Georgia Line is in good company, as other celebrity supporters of the Boot Campaign include Dolly Parton, The Rock, FX’s Cast of Sons Of Anarchy, Troy Aikman, Brantley Gilbert, Eli Young Band, George Jones and Gary Allan. Supporters of the cause purchase boots, with all proceeds going to military charities, to put on in order to “symbolically walk in the shoes of our military men and women to remember their service and sacrifice.”

Florida Georgia Line is currently speeding up the charts with their debut single “Cruise,” from their new EP It’z Just What We Do. For more information on Florida Georgia Line and tour dates, visit www.FloridaGeorgiaLine.com.

Big Machine and Clear Channel Announce Groundbreaking Agreement

2208459-2207259-Big-Machine-Clear-Channel

The Big Machine Label Group is home to such artists as Taylor Swift, Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts and Eden’s Edge on Big Machine Records, as well as Reba McEntire, Justin Moore, Brantley Gilbert, The Mavericks and Thomas Rhett on Valory Music Co. The group announced today that they are partnering with Clear Channel Media and Entertainment to align their business interests and accelerate growth and innovation in digital radio to the benefit of music fans and radio listeners everywhere.

Through this agreement, Big Machine (and its artists) will become the first record company to directly participate in Clear Channel’s terrestrial broadcast radio revenues.  For Big Machine Label President and CEO Scott Borchetta, it was a no brainer. Borchetta said, “In Clear Channel, I found partners who shared my big-picture view of how we could structure an agreement to benefit all involved. Not only does this partnership enable Big Machine to participate in terrestrial broadcast revenues, but we are also helping to grow digital radio – a great opportunity for all of us and a breakthrough opportunity for Big Machine artists.”

“Scott Borchetta has reinvented the music business in many important ways over the years, from distribution and artist development to promotion and advertising,” said Bob Pittman, Chief Executive Officer of Clear Channel. “Focusing that same creativity on how best to grow the music business, Scott has developed this new model with us to let his labels and artists participate in the revenue of broadcast radio immediately and in digital radio as it builds. This is a big step, but we think this investment is an opportunity worth taking to align our interests in all of our revenue streams and grow digital listening to its full potential with record labels and their artists as our partners. This landmark agreement creates a structure that makes sense for both our companies – but most of all for music fans.”

“Today, 98 percent of our listening is terrestrial broadcast and 2 percent digital – with record labels and artists only paid for the 2 percent,” said John Hogan, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Clear Channel Media and Entertainment. “This new agreement expands label and artist participation from just digital to terrestrial broadcast radio revenues in one comprehensive framework that will give all of us a great incentive to drive the growth of the digital radio industry and allow everyone to participate financially in its growth. This market-based solution helps bring the best in music to radio listeners wherever they want to hear it.”
