Talk about some exposure! The Roys will be taking their bluegrass around the world with a special television voyage.

Siblings Lee and Elaine will be appearing on the PBS program “Music Voyager,” which premieres worldwide on February 24. The episode is part of the Music Voyager international music and travel series, and takes viewers to various destinations around the world. For their episode, Music Voyager: Tennessee, host Jacob Edgar caught up with The Roys at the Ernest Tubb Record Shop where they chatted aboard Tubb’s touring bus and performed their previous hit single, Coal Minin’ Man.

If you doubt the power of public television, consider this: “Music Voyage” will make its way into 170 million homes in 140 countries and broadcast in 33 languages. Like I said, talk about some exposure! To learn more about the popular series, go to musicvoyager.com.

The show will certainly give The Roys a boost, but they’re doing pretty well on their own. They just returned from a tour of Australia and Canada to find their single Trailblazer in the Top 10 on the Bluegrass Today Weekly chart.

If that’s not enough, Country Music USA Radio Network will air an exclusive interview with Lee and Elaine this week. The show is Europe’s most-listened to syndicated Country FM radio program, reaching 10 million listeners in 74 countries and territories around the world, including: France, Belgium, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Monaco, West Indies, Mayotte and Reunion Island. I’m going to say it one more time: Talk about some exposure!

The Roys (like almost everyone else) are in Nashville this week for Country Radio Seminar. After that, they will be taking a real-life road voyage, bringing their bluegrass to fans across the United States. Below are a few of their post-CRS dates:

02.26 North Miami Beach, FL – Everglades Bluegrass Festival

03.03 Argyle, TX – Argyle Bluegrass Festival

03.07 Nashville, TN – Music City Roots

03.09 Mountain View, AR – Mountain View Spring Bluegrass Festival

The duo broke up in 1976. In addition, Dickens was known for speaking out on behalf of coal miners in her native West Virginia. She also appeared in the Oscar-winning documentary, Harlan County, USA, about Kentucky coal miners, and the accompanying soundtrack featured four of her original songs. She was inducted into the West Virginia Music Hall of Fame in 2008 and had received a National Heritage Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts.
