When we caught wind of just how incredible Carrie Underwood‘s 2012 was, we were simply blown away. Not only were we amazed by the laundry list of successful moments Carrie experienced, but we were exhausted just thinking about everything Carrie accomplished in only 366 days (Leap Year, y’all … are we observant, or what?)! The following is what Carrie’s year consisted of:
Carrie Underwood has been blowing away audiences across the Unites States on tour through out 2012, and will continue to tour the states in 2013. Underwood just announced that she’s out to blow away the rest of the world this spring, taking her tour to Ireland and the United Kingdom. The first overseas stop will be in Dublin on March 14th, followed by Belfast on March 15th, and then continue on to London, England to headline March 17th. The London show will be part of the first-ever “Country To Country” music festival being held at London’s O2 Arena. The “Blown Away” tour has also added 4 additional stops in Canada next year bringing the total of shows on the tour’s run to well over 100.
Carrie Underwood announced today that “The Blown Away Tour” will now extend into 2013 with forty additional tour dates. Originally, Carrie’s tour was set to end in Sunrise, Florida on December 22, 2012, but the tour will now resume in Colorado Springs, Colorado on February 13, 2013 and continue for thirty-nine more shows to follow. Hunter Hayes will also continue to tour with Carrie as her opening act. The donation of $1 from each ticket sold on the North American leg of “The Blown Away Tour” will continue in 2013 to support Red Cross disaster relief.
All Summer long, Kelly Clarkson has masterfully covered all types of songs, including some of our favorite country classics. She’s covered Vince Gill and Tammy Wynette, tackled Trisha and wowed us with “Wide Open Spaces,” but this time, she blows us away. Literally.
It takes guts to tackle a Carrie Underwood song, and just like with her incredible take on Carrie’s “I Know You Won’t,” Kelly changed the song to make it uniquely her own.
Prior to her performance in Perth, Australia, Kelly actually took to her Twitter to alert Carrie of her impending cover, while singing the song’s praises. She tweeted, “@carrieunderwood girl I’m covering Blown Away tonight for my fan request song and it is my favorite! I love how dark it is! Very cool song!”
Of course comparisons will be drawn between the original and the cover, and due to the fact that both girls came from a certain television show, but frankly, it shouldn’t matter. We love Carrie’s version and we also love the Kellified version.
We wish this video was a closer one, but take a listen as Kelly covers Carrie.
It might be missing some lions, tigers, and bears, but what isn’t missing is one of Carrie Underwood‘s dogs. Carrie’s new ‘Wizard of Oz’ influenced video for “Blown Away” is finally here and includes a debut appearance by her own “Toto,” Penny.
The video premiered on E! and E! Online on Monday night. In a behind-the-scenes interview with E!, Carrie says “We wanted to create this modern-day, tragic Wizard of Oz mini-movie.”
In the video, Carrie lives alone with her father, an abusive alcoholic. A nearby twister leaves Carrie with the choice of saving her passed-out father or leaving him there to die. Carrie attempts to wake her father and then leaves him to head for the basement. Once the twister has passed, Carrie comes up from the underground to find only sunshine, rainbows, a yellow path..and her dog Penny, of course.

It’s been roughly a couple months since Carrie Underwood gave her first sneak peek of the “Blown Away” music video at her exclusive Fan Club Party in Nashville during CMA Fest, and now the final finished product is almost here! The broadcast and online world premieres of Carrie’s latest video will take place on Monday, July 30, during a 24-hour exclusive window on E! News at 7 and 11:30p.m. ET/PT and on the homepage of E! Before the exclusive premiere on E!, Carrie will attend the Private World Premiere of the “Blown Away” video this Saturday with KJ97, a country station in San Antonio, Texas, and over 200 of their listeners. KJ97 was the winner of the Arista Nashville sponsored nationwide country radio contest to host this special event. They received the most listener votes out of hundreds of participating stations.
Carrie’s “Blown Away” video was directed by Randee St. Nicholas and produced by Brandon Bonfiglo for Randee St. Nicholas Photography. “Blown Away” is the title track of Carrie Underwood’s fourth album and her current single, which has raked in sales of more than a quarter of a million. How many of our readers are dying to see the video? We can’t wait, it looks fabulous! If you haven’t seen it already, you can check out the sneak peek of the video below.
Carrie Underwood has consistently blown fans away with her new hit album, Blown Away, and will be releasing the album’s title track as her next single. The song will officially impact country radio on July 9, but has already become a fan-favorite, due to Carrie’s performances of the song on national television. It was penned by Josh Kear and Chris Tompkins, who also wrote Underwood’s smash “Before He Cheats.”
Aside from being a favorite amongst fans, “Blown Away” has received rave reviews from critics. Billboard writes, “Mark Bright’s brooding, atmospheric production and Underwood’s bold performance elevate this cinematic tune to an instant classic. When the girl shuts herself in the storm cellar, leaving her alcoholic father passed out on the couch in the path of a twister, you can almost feel the wind.”
Additionally, Carrie’s record label, Arista Nashville, will be promoting the new video in a unique way, by offering country radio the chance to win a Private World Premiere of the “Blown Away” music video. The prize will include a “red carpet” event for the station’s listeners, including an appearance by Underwood.
The video was directed by Randee St. Nicholas and produced by Brandon Bonfiglio. It is sure to wow fans, and the trailer can be viewed at: http://smarturl.it/blownawaytrailer.
