Lady Antebellum Lands Eighth #1 with “Compass”

While most compasses point north, Lady Antebellum’s has pointed them straight to #1! The trio’s current single “Compass” has taken over the top spot on both the Billboard Country Airplay and Mediabase charts, making it their eighth #1 single.

“When we got the news that ‘Compass’ was number one, we were ironically enough, on a 500 mile detour on the bus in Canada trying to avoid an avalanche,” explains vocalist Hillary Scott. “The timing was actually really funny and fortunately we’re going to make it in plenty of time to see all our fans in Vancouver tonight.”

Scott continued by recognizing the work that others put into making the single such a success. “We’re so thankful for all our friends in radio, our record label but especially to all the fans that are on their feet each night when we start the show with this song. The energy is infectious, and it sets the night off on an unbelievable course!”

In addition to celebrating their latest #1 hit, Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley, and Dave Haywood will be honored at the GRAMMYs on the Hill Awards on April 2 in Washington DC. The trio will receive the Recording Artists Coalition Award in recognition of their achievements in country music and their philanthropic efforts.

According to Nielsen SoundScan, Eric Church earned his second #1 album on the Billboard Charts with The Outsiders for the week ending February 16th. With sales of 288,000, Church marked the biggest sales week of the year and the biggest since Beyonce released her self-titled album back in December.

This is not the first time that Eric Church has debuted in the top slot. His last studio album, Chief, also debuted in Billboard’s top spot back in 2011. The Outsiders marks the biggest sales for a country album since Luke Bryan released Crash My Party back in August 2013.

Way to go, Eric!

Billboard Magazine will be officially publishing their Top 200 Albums Chart tomorrow, but speculation is already abound that Eric Church will be claiming the top spot for The Outsiders! If this happens, he’d be leading the way for country music to have the biggest sales week for an album in the past six months.

Estimates for sales are already out there, but keep an eye on KIC and we’ll make sure to post the official numbers tomorrow! Could be Eric will be nipping on the heels of Luke Bryan’s Crash My Party.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed!

Kellie Pickler’s “100 Proof” Debuts at No. 2 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums Chart

Kellie Pickler‘s third album, 100 Proof, made it’s debut today on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart at No. 2 and debuted at No. 7 on the all-genre Billboard 200 chart, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

“I’m so proud of this album,” shares Pickler. “I want to thank the fans so much for buying it and supporting country music. I know these are hard times economically and the fact that people spend their hard earned money on 100 Proof is humbling.”

100 Proof has critics touting praise for Pickler with Entertainment Weekly calling 100 Proof Kellie’s “meatiest, most adventurous output yet.” The Miami Herald said “a major label won’t release a more authentic or better country album in 2012 than Pickler’s surprisingly terrific 100 Proof.” The Associated Press calls 100 Proof “hardcore country” and describes the song, “Stop Cheatin’ On Me,” as being “drenched in old-fashioned heartbreak.”

Parade shares that Pickler is “bearing her Southern soul” on 100 Proof and The New York Daily News says that “100 Proof has a far greater sense of place, with steel guitars, fiddles and banjos that don’t just sound like tokens but rather integral parts of the song. The opening cut, ‘Where’s Tammy Wynette,’ earns its invocation of the icon with a feisty tune and a wide vocal arc.”
