Big Machine Label Group For Sale?
The industry is abuzz today with news that Sony Corporation is interested in buying Big Machine Label Group, home of Taylor Swift, Reba, Martina McBride and Rascal Flatts, reports Business Week.
The deal, worth a reported $200 million, would put Big Machine’s current President and Founder Scott Borchetta at the helm of Sony Nashville.
In an interesting twist however, Universal Music might be looking to get in on the action and make a bid of their own. Universal currently distributes all of the Big Machine releases, a deal that is in place through 2012.

Big Machine Signs 15 Year Old Ella Mae Bowen
Big Machine has announced the signing of 15-year-old Ella Mae Bowen to its label. Ella recorded a song for the new “Footloose” sound track. The South Carolina native’s version of “Holding Out For A Hero” is the fourth tune on the record. She’ll be attending the Nashville premiere of the movie tonight.
“The Big Machine Label Group was always my number one choice, not only because of their phenomenal track record but because everyone there immediately felt like family. I couldn’t be more thrilled to work with Scott and his amazing team.”
Will she be the next Taylor Swift for the label? Time will tell.
Big Machine teams up with Clear Channel
Big Machine Label Group has teamed up with Clear Channel to provide country music fans with a commercial-free internet radio station for Clear Channel’s iHeartRadio. This service will provide exclusive interviews, recordings and other content from Big Machine’s artists. This is great news for Taylor Swift, Jewel, Rascal Flatts, Martina McBride, Reba and The Band Perry fans. They are set to launch with an exclusive preview of Justin Moore’s Outlaws Like Me album.
