It’s been a good year for Ashley Monroe. The “Hippie Annie” of the Pistol Annies is celebrating her birthday today while on tour with Miranda Lambert’s “Revolution Continues 2011″ tour.
Their debut album as a group went to number one, making history as it was a digital release only at the time. The girls have announced they will release their “Hell On Heels” album to stores September 13th.
Congratulations on your success as one of the hottest groups this Summer, and happy birthday Ashley!
The Pistol Annies track listing for their debut album as the tough-as-nails girls trio has been revealed on their official music store. “Hell on Heels,” named after their first single, is available August 23rd but pre-orders have been open since CMA Fest. The Pistol Annies are made up of best friends Miranda Lambert, Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley. The 10-track album also includes a co-write with Lamber’ts husband, Blake Shelton, on “Family Feud.” The girls, nicknamed Lone Star Annie (Lambert), Holler Annie (Presley), and Hippie Annie (Monroe), gave Shelton the honorary title of Pistol Andy.
The girls released the music video for “Hell on Heels” earlier this week to CMT and GAC. It’s already topped the online charts on CMT.com as the number one most watched music video this week. We were at Miranda Lambert’s Ran Fan Rendezvous 2011 fan club party this year in Nashville, Tennessee and Jessica has a few videos up on our official YouTube channel of their acoustic set during the party when Monroe and Presley surprised fans by joining Lambert on-stage.
Lambert has also been surprising fans on her tour with a short 3-song set by the Annies on select tour dates.
“Takin’ Pills” will be featured on the Annies debut album as a group next month. Here’s our footage of the acoustic version. Have you pre-ordered their album? Or are you waiting for Lambert’s solo album, “Four The Record,” due out later on this year? Check out the full track listing under the “Read More” button.
You can pre-order their album from their official store HERE.
By now everyone around the globe has heard that Casey Anthony was ruled not guilty of killing her 2 year old daughter, Casey. Here are some more country celebrities reactions we found on twitter:
cowboytroy: Verdict is sickening. Just saw news. Disgusting.
cowboytroy: The poor child’s remains were found in garbage bags while Anthony was out partying. Wow…just…wow…sad.
Followtheblonde: WHAT! Well Casey, now u can get back to grieving 4 the loss of your baby in between keggers & brokering your book deal. Shocked & sickened.
JayDeMarcus Well… Casey Anthony seems like a job for Dexter now….
On each of Miranda Lambert’s first four tour stops of her “Revolution Continues” tour since her marriage, she has brought out her best friends, and side project partners, The Pistol Annies for a four-song set mid-concert. Singing three original Annies songs, including “Hell on Heels”, they finish off with a cover of Hit “The Road Jack.”
The first live video from her Savannah, Georgia stop featuring the Pistol Annies found its way on to Youtube yesterday. With the Annies finishing up their first album, due out in July, the three songs should be considered an album preview for the trio. What do you think of the Pistol Annies? I think their third original song, “Boys From The South,” will be a hit if released. The three singer-songwriters might be the first classic country tinged all-girl group in a long time.
Check out the live concert video under the “more” tag. Let us know what you think of the Pistol Annies. Do you prefer Miranda on her own, or are you excited for this girl powered group?
According to Ashley Monroe’s twitter, she and Miranda are off to Nashville tonight to celebrate their number one hit “Heart Like Mine.” Miranda Lambert wrote the song with Ashley Monroe (her friend and fellow member of the Pistol Annies) and Travis Howard.
Me and the puppies and Miranda are heading back to Nashville to celebrate our number one tonight!!!!! Yay!!!!

“Heart Like Mine” is the 5th single off Miranda’s album “Revolution.” Miranda is currently in the studio working on her next album and will be appearing at CMA Music Festival this upcoming week on June 12th.
Miranda Lambert announced on Twitter this afternoon that she’s finishing up recording her forth studio album and about to start recording for her new group, The Pistol Annies. Lambert had recorded Revolution in one week in 2009. The Pistol Annies debut record is due out some time this Summer, and earlier interviews have quoted Lambert as expecting her new solo release out by the end of the year.
@Miranda_Lambert: Day 5 studio. Last one for my record. Tomorrow…..Pistol Annies. Finishing our record so y’all can get it:)
According to the fan forum at mirandalambert.com, Miranda has announced that her group the “Pistol Annies” will put out an EP in June! She reported this information at her Cause For The Paws event in Tyler Texas just last week.
The Pistol Annies trio is made up of Miranda Lambert, Angaleena Presley, and Ashley Monroe. They debuted their song “Hell On Heels” at Girls Night Out in Vegas on April 4th.
There’s no arguing that Miranda Lambert is the new “IT” girl of country music. After almost sweeping the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards for the second time in a row, is there anything stopping her?
To be honest, hearing Miranda announce she was going to debut a brand new female trio at the ACM Girls Night Out special was a little worrying. I was hoping she wasn’t going to put her booming solo career on hold for what I thought was her giving a helping hand to some girlfriends. I’ve learned yet again to never doubt the Texan songstress. “Hell On Heels” is like the outlaw version of the Dixie Chicks: with more talent and less blacklisting.
