Eric Church Releases “Give Me Back My Hometown”

Country bad-boy, Eric Church, is adding more gasoline to the flames of fans’ anticipation for the upcoming release of his new album The Outsiders, with the release of the second single “Give Me Back My Hometown“.

This wistful song, written by Church and Luke Laird, is sure to be a hit with listeners who grooved on out to “Like Jesus Does” and “Homeboy“. Simultaneously rock and country, and all signature Eric Church, “Give Me Back My Hometown” follows quick on the heels of the highly touted first single “The Outsiders“.

“Church was already at the vanguard of contemporary country’s rock movement… Like a modern-day Lynyrd Skynyrd, Church manages to be simultaneously more rock’n’roll and good-old-boy than anyone else out there – no easy task,” Billboard Magazine wrote about this ACM and CMA award winner. And Rolling Stone named “The Outsiders” one of the “100 Best Songs of 2013″ citing “Leave it to the classic rock-loving Nashville badass to cook up the heaviest ‘country’ song in years – a radio hit that plays like some demon spawn of Def Leppard, Black Sabbath, and “Born to Be Wild.””

The Outsiders will be Church’s fourth studio album and fourth collaboration with producer Jay Joyce (Emmylou Harris, Little Big Town) and follows in the footsteps of Platinum-certified Chief, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts.

Big boots to fill, but “Give Me Back My Hometown” goes a long way to filling them.

To purchase “Give Me Back My Hometown” you can go to iTunes.

REVIEW: Jo Dee Messina Live in Miami

Jo Dee Messina

Jo Dee Messina definitely underestimates herself when she sings the words “I’m Alright.” The definition of “alright” is satisfactory; acceptable; reliable; good. Jo Dee is leaps and bounds above “alright.” Jo Dee is phenomenal; extraordinary; remarkable; sensational. Just when you thought you signed, sealed, and delivered your list of top vocalists to ever exist, we insist that you add one more name to the top of that list!

On Saturday night, December 21, we were fortunate enough to be in Jo Dee’s presence in Miami, Florida, for a “holiday show” in a most intimate setting. Despite the fact that we had quite the scare on the way home from the show (which involved a homeless man, a bottle of windshield cleaner, and his refusal to let go of our windshield wiper until we opened the window in a terribly dangerous part of town to hand him his “dolla”), we had the night of our lives!

Aaron Watson Pays Homage to Lane Frost

Aaron Watson July in Cheyenne

Aaron Watson, a country singer who has experienced success to the tune of 200,000 album sales, half a million downloads, four charted albums, and several nationally charted Billboard singles, recently released a new album, Real Good Time. Real Good Time reached Number Nine on Billboard’s country chart and has since sustained its placement on said chart.

Aaron has released three singles thus far off his latest album, but his fourth and final single, “July In Cheyenne,” is the most poignant and personally meaningful. A nod to Lane Frost, one of the most prolific professional bull riders to ever compete, the song references Lane’s career and his tragic death at Cheyenne Frontier Days. Through the track, Aaron tells the remainder of Lane’s story that was not portrayed in the Hollywood blockbuster 8 Seconds. The song was so moving that it struck a friendship between Aaron and Lane’s mom, Elsie Frost, to whom Aaron wrote and dedicated the song.

In honor of rodeo season commencing, as well as the twenty-fifth anniversary of Lane Frost’s untimely death, we ask that you watch the video below for “July in Cheyenne” and check out Aaron Watson’s website for updates on his music and tour dates.

Maria Taylor’s “Something About Knowing” Album Available Now

Maria Taylor

Maria Taylor does folk music and she does it really well.

While Taylor has put out several solo projects, you may also know her from the duo Azure Ray. If you are unfamiliar with Taylor, however, you should definitely check out her music and stay tuned for my interview with her coming soon.

Her new album, Something About Knowing, was released today. I have been lucky enough to have an advanced copy, and I liked it on first listen.

Something About Knowing has a hauntingly beautiful yet peaceful sound. The music along with Taylor’s breathy controlled vocals are soothing and melodic, and the tracks have a lullaby like quality that pulls you in and grabs you. The songs emote the feeling of being satisfied with life in all its simplicity… love, family, children, friends, memories. With the album, Taylor really brings a refreshing focus on the good things in life.

Jo Dee Messina Set To Tour & Release New Album

Jo Dee Messina

According to The Boot, Jo Dee Messina will be kicking off her tour this month! She will be doing a few dates in the United States before heading  to Canada.

Last year, Messina completed her contract with Curb Records, parted ways with the label, and decided to take full control of her music and career.

For months, she has been working on her upcoming album with a little help from her fans. Through Kickstarter, she was able to raise more than $100,000 for the project, and her fans have also helped her pick every song for the record as well as the first single. The single, “Peace Sign,” was just released through her own label, Dreambound.

She tells Billboard:

They [the fans] picked every song for this record. We’d been working on the record since last year. We’d put little snippets of demos or live performances up on Twitter, Facebook, or YouTube, and let people decide thumbs up or thumbs down. Then, we started getting involved with Kickstarter, and people got a chance to participate in the recording process of the album.

Now, Messina will be hitting the road to play for all of those loyal, supportive fans.
