Kelly Clarkson Readying County Album

kelly clarkson country album

It’s no secret that Kelly Clarkson has become one of country music’s biggest dabblers. She’s been nominated for tons of country awards, including for female vocalist at the last 2 CMA’s, and even won the Academy of Country Music Award for Vocal Event of the Year for “Don’t You Wanna Stay.” She’s BFF’s with Reba, Blake and Miranda and calls Nashville home. She’s released successful collaborations with Reba, Jason Aldean & Vince Gill, and recently rolled out her first solo country offering, “Tie It Up.”  Although the flirty wedding-themed track seemed fitting to her current place in life as she preps to tie the knot, the random release left us scratching our heads as to what it meant.

Well, it looks like ol’ KC has (FINALLY!) opted to take the plunge and record an actual country album. Just this week, she told NY radio station WGNA, “We’ve almost made a whole record.”She’s also mentioned her forthcoming country album at her recent shows as part of her introduction to “Tie It Up.”

Although she may be putting her boots on, she’s not completely ready to hang up her “Since U Been Gone”-esque shoes just yet. “With Jewel and Sheryl Crow, they kinda quit pop and came over the country,” she said. “I love both.”

In addition to this almost-complete country album, Clarkson is finishing up a forthcoming pop album, and will release her first Christmas CD, Wrapped In Red, on October 29th.

Dierks Bentley Releases “I Hold On” As Lead Single from “Riser”!

dierks bentley

In advance of Dierks Bentley‘s forthcoming album, Riser, the award-winning singer/songwriter released his new single “I Hold On” to country radio. The track was written by Bentley and Brett James, pinning spiritual questions to material symbols with a personal touch.

“If you asked me to sum myself up in three minutes, I’d play ‘I Hold On’ for you.  At first listen, you might think it’s about my truck or my guitar, but it’s really about why I do some of the things I do and the kind of guy I am,” explains Bentley. “The chorus is really universal…it’s about faith, love and freedom…I don’t think there’s a country fan out there who doesn’t live with those as big priorities.  I hope through this song I’m able to let the fans into my heart and my mind a little more, and that they can also relate it back to themselves and their own lives.”

USA Today is offering fans a behind the scenes look at the making of “I Hold On.” To watch, click here.

Bentley is currently on tour with Miranda Lambert, through October. For ongoing updates on new music and tour dates, visit www.dierks.com.

Pistol Annies Reveal Album Cover & Track Listing for Annie Up

The Pistol Annies will release their much-anticipated sophomore album, Annie Up, on May 7, and they recently revealed the album cover and track list. All of the tracks were written by some combination of the Annies, Miranda Lambert, Ashley Monroe & Angaleena Presley.

The first single “Hush Hush” was already released to radio, and talks about hiding family secrets for the sake of appearances. The track is typical Pistol Annies, as are many of the other tracks, such as “I Feel A Sin Comin On,” a blusy ode to temptation and  “Unhappily Married,” a brash look inside the daily grind of a couple desperate to stay together.

One track, the somewhat confessional “Being Pretty Ain’t Pretty,” was inspired by a tweet from Ashley about makeup and makeup wipes. “Women are warriors and we go into battle everyday with the stuff we wear, said Angaleena. “You spend all this money for make-up and eyelashes and spray tanners just to wipe it all off at the end of the night,” added Miranda.
