Top 20 Singles Of 2011

Ronnie Dunn.

2011 has been one heck of a year for country music. We’ve seen singles from all different sides of the spectrum: from songs that make you want to get up and dance, to songs that make you want to cry. Country has always been very good at dealing with real-life issues. It’s the story songs that make country music the genre it is. It has a way of moving you, either to get up and party, or to remember what’s really going on in the world.

It was hard to narrow down the highlight songs of the year into one package, but Ted Efron and myself sat down to do just that. There might be some surprises on our list, but these are the songs that defined a genre for 2011. Take a look at our list below and let us know if you agree, disagree, or think we forgot someone we shouldn’t have. Not all of these songs are singles, some are just the best album tracks that should have been singles this year.

Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood and Alabama had another first at the Grand Ole Opry yesterday before their performance at the historic venue. For the first-time ever, the Grand Ole Opry was the host for a number one party for both of Brad’s duets “Remind Me” and “Old Alabama.” Both his singles from “This Is Country Music” had gone number one.

Brad’s next single from “This Is Country Music” is the comedic “Camouflage.” I can’t wait for the music video for that one from the country music jokester.

Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley are once again co-hosting the Country Music Association (CMA) awards November 9th on ABC. Brad is currently trying to come up with a non-water themed name tour for his world tour next year, and Carrie is finishing up her new album rumored to be out sometime in 2012.

Brad Paisley to Release His “Country Music” Early

Fans have one less day to wait for some great ‘Country Music’ from Brad Paisley. According to AOL’s The Boot, he has pushed the release date of his ninth studio album, This Is Country Music, to May 23 — one day before its previously scheduled in-store date.

That’s likely due to the runaway success of the project’s second single, ‘Old Alabama,’ featuring the legendary group, Alabama, who reunited for the song. The song is already in the Top 10 on both the Billboard and Country Aircheck charts after just seven weeks, and follows the similarly successful title track, which peaked at No. 2.
