Lionel Richie to Perform at Boots and Hearts Music Festival

Music Icon, Lionel Richie has been added to the already star-studded Boots and Hearts Music Festival, taking place at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on August 10-12.  Richie has sold over 100 million albums, had 22 Top 10 hits, received five Grammys, an Academy Award for Best Original Song, a Golden Globe and a host of other awards from virtually every other major entertainment organization. His latest platinum album, Tuskegee, a country duets album that features songs with Blake Shelton, Jennifer Nettles, Jason Aldean and more, hit #1 on the Billboard Charts. It is the second-best selling album of the year, and makes Richie the second artist (behind Ray Charles) to ever have a #1 on both the Country and R&B/Hip-Hop Charts.

“We are truly thrilled to have Lionel Richie perform on the same night as Carrie Underwood, and couldn’t be more excited about all great new additions to the line-up” said Shannon McNevan, partner and executive director, Republic Live, the promoter and producer of the festival. “Country music fans are in for a memorable festival. Where else could you see such a wide-range of talent like Tim McGraw, Kid Rock, Sheryl Crow and Alabama – all while camping with friends or family?”

EXCLUSIVE: Interview With Jason Charles Miller

Jason Charles Miller is definitely not your ordinary urban cowboy. Rather, he represents the dark, gritty side of country music – the type of country music that should receive more acknowledgement than it does.

Regardless, this Virginia native knows his way around the entertainment industry. Although he might be most known for heading the rock band Godhead, Jason has travelled many paths throughout his life. His impressive resume includes writing, producing, voiceover recording and acting. If that wasn’t enough, Jason is busy overseeing his own recording studio, Central Command Studios.

We caught up with Jason today to talk about the release of his new single “Up To Me,” his recent signing with Render Records, how he feels about the music industry and what he has to offer.

We can promise you that this man has a mind and heart evident in both his thoughts and music that any country music fan could appreciate and love. Take a look for yourself:

All For The Hall: A Night To Remember

Last night (04/10), some of the biggest names in country music gathered at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville in front of a crowd of 16,000 to raise money for the Country Music Hall of Hame and Museum.

This is the third year Keith Urban and Vince Gill have put on the All For The Hall show. Following suit with giving themes to each of the past shows, Keith made this year’s theme duos, vocal groups and bands. And some of the best acts were in attendance: Rascal Flatts, The Oak Ridge Boys, Diamond Rio, Pistol Annies, Lady Antebellum, The Band Perry, Thompson Square, Little Big Town and Alabama.

If that set list wasn’t enough, Keith added to the excitement by bringing out some special guests including Merle Haggard and Don Williams.

Both Keith and Vince acted as co-musical directors and house band leaders. They sat in on most songs and brought their bands together throughout the night.

The best moment of the night, of course, was Keith’s surprise: Rascal Flatts brought out a black duffel bag for Keith for him to find an Opry microphone stand inside. Read more about Keith’s surprise here.

Miranda Lambert Makes History At ACMs

Miranda Lambert.

Texan firecracker Miranda Lambert is going home with just a little more than two pieces of hardware. She won both Album of the Year for “Four The Record” and Female Vocalist of the Year at Sunday night’s Academy of Country Music Awards on CBS. With her Album of the year win, Miranda has joined an exclusive club with only Alabama.

The Album of the Year award was first introduced in 1967, and first won by Glen Campbell for “Gentle On My Mind.” Since then, only four acts have won the award with three different albums in ACM history – and only two with three consecutive albums. George Strait and Alan Jackson both have won the award three times, but it is only Miranda and Alabama who won it consecutively. Miranda is also the only female artist to make the list.

Miranda’s three albums that have given her Album of the Year bragging rights are “Four The Record,” “Revolution,” and “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.” Alabama’s three consecutive wins were for their three albums “Roll On,” “The Closer You Get,” and, “Feels So Right.”

While legends Alan and George did not win it three times in a row, they each won it three times with their albums – Alan with “Drive,” “A Lot About Livin’,” and, “Don’t Rock The Juke Box.” George took home his awards for “Carrying Your Love With Me,” “Blue Clear Sky,” and, “Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind.”

Keith Urban Reschedules “All For The Hall”

Keith Urban has rescheduled his All For The Hall annual benefit show. Joined by an all-star lineup, he will hit the stage of Nashville’s Bridgestone Area on Tuesday, April 10, 2012.

The concert, which will benefit the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, had to be postponed when Keith received word that he would have to be put on vocal rest after surgery he had to remove a polyp on his vocal chord last November.

The show will feature performances from Keith himself, as well as Vince Gill, Alabama, Alison Krauss & Union Station, The Band Perry, Blue Sky Riders, Diamond Rio, Lady Antebellum, Little Big Town, The Oak Ridge Boys, Pistol Annies, Rascal Flatts and Thompson Square.

Top 20 Singles Of 2011

Ronnie Dunn.

2011 has been one heck of a year for country music. We’ve seen singles from all different sides of the spectrum: from songs that make you want to get up and dance, to songs that make you want to cry. Country has always been very good at dealing with real-life issues. It’s the story songs that make country music the genre it is. It has a way of moving you, either to get up and party, or to remember what’s really going on in the world.

It was hard to narrow down the highlight songs of the year into one package, but Ted Efron and myself sat down to do just that. There might be some surprises on our list, but these are the songs that defined a genre for 2011. Take a look at our list below and let us know if you agree, disagree, or think we forgot someone we shouldn’t have. Not all of these songs are singles, some are just the best album tracks that should have been singles this year.
