REVIEW: Adley Stump’s EP “Like This”

Adley Stump Like This EP

The Voice contestant and friend to Keepin’ It Country, Adley Stump, released a four-track EP today, entitled Like This. Like This features four extremely different tracks, ranging from angry to sad and sassy to vulnerable. Adley explores love lost on different levels, whether it is because of a man who puts up walls and is afraid to let someone in or whether that man ended up sneaking around with someone else. As Miranda Lambert sings in Baggage Claim, “behind every woman scorned is a man who made her that way;” and if these tracks are indicative of Adley scorned, we are sorry to tell you, Adley, but we hope you stay that way!

Adley Stump and Joe Diffie Honor Oklahoma Tornado Victim’s Family

Adley Stump Joe Diffie Nissan Giveaway

For those of you who follow Adley Stump on Twitter and Facebook, you know she has been updating her social media pages over the last week, saying that she stole Joe Diffie‘s new Nissan and is on the run with the truck. Yesterday, Adley updated her followers, advising that Joe found her and his Nissan and that the two would be heading to their home state of Oklahoma to do something very special later that night. And special it was, indeed.

As you all will recall, in May 2013, Oklahoma City and its surrounding areas were devastated by a tornado, which claimed the lives of many. One of the victims of the storm was third grader, Antonia Candelaria, who went to elementary school like every other day and, along with six other students, never came home.

While driving around in the Nissan, Adley stopped in six cities in three different states, telling the Candelaria family’s story. Her final stop, with Joe in tow, was to meet the Candelarias and present them with a brand new, fully loaded Nissan Titan. Adley expresses her gratitude to Capital Mortgage, Nissan, and Joe Diffie, as well as her fans, for their support for making this happen for the Moore, Oklahoma family.

Thank you to Adley for taking us on her journey over the last few days and sharing with everyone her selflessness as she reached her destination. If you have learned one thing this week, let it be to always hug your loved ones before you part ways and that, despite the negativity in this world, there are more wonderful people, like Adley and Joe, out there than people who bring us down.

Our continued thoughts and prayers go out to the Candelarias and the other victims of the Oklahoma tornado. We hope the Candelaria family makes many incredible memories with their new Nissan Titan!

REVIEW: Adley Stump’s Debut Single “Like This”

If you know anything about NBC The Voice alumnae, Adley Stump, it is that she is the epitome of “a little bit country, a little bit rock ‘n’ roll.” So, what do you get when you add Adley’s fun personality, unique style, and Oklahoma roots? You get Adley’s debut single, “Like This.”

Adley’s eclectic “Like This” has the confidence and attitude of a P!nk hit, the rock ‘n’ roll feel of an Ashlee Simpson (pre-hillbilly dancing on SNL) jam, and a country twist that is incomparable to anyone else on the scene. In fact, it would not surprise us in the least if “Like This” catapulted Adley into country music stardom and served as a catalyst for the next crossover sensation! Play this song on your iPod while you exercise, belt it out when driving in your car with your windows down, or request it at a country bar … the bottom line is, if you want to dance, sing along, and have a great time, you too will love Adley’s single!

“Like This” will be available on Tuesday, July 30th, through all major distributors, including iTunes and Amazon. If you “like this” review enough to download Adley’s single next week, make sure to let us know what you think! We can’t wait to hear your reviews!

Oklahoma’s Own Adley Stump Lends Her Vocals to Aid Her Home State

In response to the recent tornadoes in Oklahoma, Oklahoma vocalist, Adley Stump from Season 2 of NBC’s “The Voice” is working with fellow native Oklahomans and Nashville songwriters to bring more attention and support for the recent tornado victims.

Without hesitation, Adley rushed into the studio to record a song that will be released May 24th to iTunes, as well as to many radio and television stations. All proceeds from the song will be donated to the Red Cross to be used to help the Oklahoma tornado victims.

“I immediately tried to figure out how I could help,” Adley says. “I think in this situation everyone just tries to figure out what they have that they can give. What I have is music, and here in Nashville there is nothing we know more than the power of a song. So when a friend from home e-mailed the song asking if I’d sing it, I knew immediately that’s how I could help. The song was perfect; I knew immediately I wanted to get in the studio with it. I hope it brings true comfort and healing for the hearts of those affected.”

Adley also intends to pull together a benefit concert in Oklahoma with other fellow Oklahoman musicians with the proceeds dedicated to the relief effort in Oklahoma. Information on this relief concert is being developed and further details will be released in the near future.

As soon as Adley agreed to sing, the Bennett family of First Oklahoma Bank provided the funds to make the project possible. The song is called “Weather the Storm” and was written by hit songwriters Bernie Nelson, Will Champlin and Adriene Smith Garrison and produced by hit songwriter/producers Philip Douglas and Greg Bieck.

Make sure to keep an eye on iTunes tomorrow so you can download Adley’s new song while helping those in need as a result of the horrific tornadoes that swept through Oklahoma. And stay tuned to Keepin’ It Country (and our social media pages) for further information on the benefit concert being planned by our friend, Adley, in support of her home state.

EXCLUSIVE: RaeLynn From “The Voice” On Her Battle Round And Beyond

RaeLynn -- photo credit: Jewel Cole

RaeLynn keeps racking up the “firsts” for Team Blake on this season of NBC’s smash singing competition The Voice.   She was the first singer selected by Blake Shelton for his team.  Now she’s the first singer Blake picked as a winner in the Battle Rounds.

The 17-year-old was matched with Adley Stump for her Battle Round.  The pairing brought together two different types of singers:  The powerful voice of Adley vs the more stylish singing RaeLynn.  Coaches Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green picked Adley as the winner, while Adam Levine went with RaeLynn.  In the end the decision was Blake’s and he went with RaeLynn, taking style over power.

Clearly, Blake sees something special about RaeLynn.  But will the viewing audience feel the same way when it comes time to vote?  We’ll all have to stay tuned for the answer to that question.

In the meantime, we caught up with the talented Texan to get her thoughts on meeting Miranda Lambert, her Battle Round with Adley, preparing for the live shows and a product endorsement she could really sink her teeth into.

Did you honestly have no idea that you were going to be working with Miranda?

The Voice: Team Blake Recap – Week 5

The Voice

With all teams complete, The Voice is officially in the second phase of the competition!

The battle rounds began last night, and our Team Blake had to send two members home. It was a fight between Adley Stump vs. RaeLynn and Brian Fuente vs. Jordis.

Joining Team Blake as mentors are music superstars, Miranda Lambert and Kelly Clarkson. Miranda and Kelly are each in charge of six members. This week, Miranda worked with RaeLynn and Jordis, while Kelly helped out Adley and Brian. None of the team members knew that they were being mentored by Miranda and Kelly. Needless to say, they were all very excited when they walked into the room and saw them. I loved getting to watch Miranda and Kelly work with the team. They are both so unbelievably talented, knowledgeable, and down-to-earth. Not to mention, you cannot beat their first-hand experience when it comes to singing competitions.

RaeLynn vs. Adley

Blake chose Tom Petty’s, “Free Fallin’” for RaeLynn and Adley’s battle. The girls both sounded great and Adley has some vocal range. Unfortunately, Blake had to make the difficult decision of sending someone home. In the end, he decided to have RaeLynn continue forward in the competition.

Adley Stump: Found The Voice On Accident

Adley Stump.

It’s been a whirlwind year for Oklahoman Adley Stump. After only discovering her singing talent a little over a year ago on a dare from her sorority sisters during a choreography session, she’s found herself on the biggest singing competition on television right now. A proud member of Team Blake Shelton, she’s made it to the Battle Rounds which start Monday at 8 pm EST on NBC.

In a conference call that we were part of yesterday afternoon, Adley admitted to us that she never meant to audition for The Voice in the first place – it happened by chance! She was in need of some money and she was actually trying to figure out how to get on Jeopardy. She googled how to get on the classic game show and found a list of reality tv shows that were currently casting – which just so happened to have The Voice’s season two auditions listed.

“I found The Voice because I was, you know, a broke college student, and I thought, man, I’m broke. I need to go be on Jeopardy. So I Googled how to be on Jeopardy, and there was a list of reality shows pulled up. I found The Voice on there, and you know, I saw auditions in Nashville at the time I was interested, and I was like, “Oh, I was always wanted to go to Nashville.”

She never expected to get as far as she has so far on the show, thanking God for the change of plans in her life. Nashville, as it is for any country music singer, was a place she dreamed to get to – and when she discovered that auditions were being held in Music City, she jumped in the car and found her way:

“You know, so I hopped in the car, drove through the night, and auditioned, I know – I mean, on a whim. I didn’t expect this. I did not expect this, and you know, this is just a – you know, I was going left and God said, “No, you’re going right.” And I’m just trying to hold on and be the best version of myself to fill this role that I feel like I’ve been given to play.”

Find out if her “whim” is enough to take her to the live shows in April. She’s proudly part of Team Blake, and will be mentored by both Kelly Clarkson and Miranda Lambert as the Battle Rounds start on Monday.
