Tweet To Find Out Blake Shelton’s ACM Awards Mystery Co-Host!

blakeshelton_acmcohost_mystery_h

For the first time in years, Reba McEntire will not be hosting the ACM Awards (due to a jam-packed schedule between her television show and other projects). However, as they say in show biz, the show must go on, and it will do so with Blake Shelton on the stage as a co-host. Yes, I said “co-host,” which means Blake will be sharing the stage with another artist.

Academy of Country Music Awards Performers Announced

acm

We all know big awards will be handed out during the Academy of Country Music Awards broadcast.  Now we also know there will some major performances!  (Like that’s some kind of surprise!)

Today the ACM released the list of high-powered performers for the show.  Scheduled to take the stage are (in alphabetical order):  Jason Aldean (nominated for six awards), Luke Bryan (no nominations), Kenny Chesney (nominated for nine awards), Eric Church (nominated for two awards), Toby Keith (nominated for three awards), Miranda Lambert (nominated for two awards) and Tim McGraw (no nominations but has previously won 14 ACM Awards).

The ACM Awards will be broadcast live from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Sunday April 1 (CBS at 8pm ET, delayed for those in the PT).  Reba McEntire and Blake Shelton return as co-hosts.

Scotty McCreery’s “Girls” Goes Gold

Scotty McCreery

So far, so golden for Scotty McCreery.

His “The Trouble With Girls” has become his second consecutive gold single for reaching sales of 500,000 units.  The song follows Scotty’s debut hit, “I Love You This Big,” which was certified gold late last year.  Both songs come from his platinum selling debut album, Clear As Day, which sold more than 1 million copies in just three months.

“Having the first single go gold was crazy, but having the second single go gold and to see the response it is getting in our shows is incredible,” says Scotty, talking about the current Virtual Reality Tour with Brad Paisley. “It’s a huge honor.”

Scotty is currently out on the road with Brad Paisley.  In addition to the great response from fans, Scotty is also becoming Brad’s favorite prank victim.  During the tour, Paisley has shown doctored photos and fake tabloid headlines of Scotty to the crowd.  Scotty says he waited for the perfect moment to strike back by dressing up as Paisley on stage.

“When we thought the time was right, we put it all together and went out there,” Scotty says. “He loved it! He was cracking up. So now I am sleeping with one eye open.”

The American Idol winner is up for another prize:  Academy of Country Music New Artist of the Year.   Voting for that award starts March 19th at  www.VoteACM.com.  We’ll find out who wins at the 47th annual ACM ceremony on April 1st.

Gilbert, Hayes & McCreery Nab ACM New Artist Nominations

acm awards

Gilbert, Hayes & McCreery.  That may sound like a law firm, but it’s not (as far as I know).  In this case, it’s Brantley Gilbert, Hunter Hayes and Scotty McCreery, who today have been named the final nominees for the Academy of Country Music Award for New Artist of the Year.

Fans voted the three into the final round and they will also have a say on who the ultimate winner is.  Voting for New Artist of the Year will take place at http://www.voteacm.com/ beginning March 19, 2012 at 9:00 AM PT and will continue until 5:00 PM PT on Sunday, April 1, 2012 (before the LIVE show starts).  The New Artist of the Year final nominees were selected by a combined vote of the fans and professional members of the Academy of Country Music.

Thompson Square Reacts To ACM Nomination

Here’s another item Shawna Thompson can peel off of her vision board:  Thompson Square is nominated for the ACM for Vocal Duo of the Year.

It’s the latest in a long list of honors for husband and wife duo Shawna and Keifer Thompson, who hit the road with Lady Antebellum and Darius Rucker starting tomorrow night in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  In typical Thompson Square style, the duo is humbled by the honor:

“We were getting ready for Lady A tour rehearsals when we heard the news this morning. We’re so honored to be nominated for an ACM. It’s been almost a year since our debut album came out and the last 365 days have been a whirlwind of dreams coming true. This year is shaping up to be even busier than 2011 and we couldn’t feel more blessed and be more grateful to our fans, Country radio and everyone out there in the industry who has supported us.”

VIDEO: Eli Young Band Reacts To ACM Nominations

Eli Young Band.

The members of the Eli Young Band woke up this morning to a triple shot of good news:  Three ACM nominations.    They are nominated for Single Record of the Year for “Crazy Girl”; Song of the Year for “Crazy Girl”; and Vocal Group of the Year.

The news was a great way to start the day, but, as the video shows, it wasn’t enough for the guys to get out of their bunks:

EYB is currently out on the road.  Tonight they will be sharing their good fortune with fans in Atlanta.

The 47th annual ACM awards air live from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on CBS on April 1st, 2012. Blake Shelton and Reba McEntire are returning once again to co-host the award show.
