Miranda Lambert To Co-Host “The Talk”

Miranda Lambert

Get ready for a little “Gunpowder & Lead” coming from the set of CBS’ The Talk.  That’s because country spitfire Miranda Lambert is set to co-host the show next Thursday, March 29.  We’ve got a feeling that the feisty and fiery Texan just might have a thing or two to say!

Lambert will be appearing on The Talk (2:00-3:00 PM, ET; 1:00-2:00 PM, PT/CT) as part of the show’s celebration (and promotion) of the upcoming Academy of County Music Awards.  She’s up for Female Vocalist of the Year as well as Album of the Year for her Four The Record.

But Miranda isn’t alone in taking her country talent to The Talk.  She’ll be joined on the same show by Chris Young, who also happens to currently be on tour with her.  Young, who is nominated ACM Male Vocalist and Single Record of the Year, will perform his chart-topping “You.”

The Talk will continue its country kick on Friday, March 30 when ACM Awards host and country music icon Reba McEntire will visit for a preview the awards show.

The 47th Academy of Country Music Awards will take place Sunday, April 1 from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas (Live 8pm ET on CBS/Delayed on the West Coast).

Taylor Swift Has A Very Special ACM Awards’ Date

Taylor & Kevin

We have always known that Taylor Swift is one of the sweetest girls in the music business, but then you hear a story like this and it just makes you love her even more.

Kevin McGuire is an 18-year-old high school senior fighting his second battle with Leukemia. He is currently receiving treatment at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Kevin wanted one thing for his senior prom… for Taylor Swift to be his date. In an effort to make that happen, Kevin’s sister, Victoria, created a Facebook page to get the word out to Taylor. Thousands upon thousands of people joined the campaign. As it turns out, it was a success.

Taylor did receive the message and responded to Kevin last week via her official Facebook page. But she one-upped the invitation:

Kevin, I’m so sorry but I won’t be able to make it to your prom. But I was wondering, the ACM Awards are coming up.. Would you be my date?

Love, Taylor

Needless to say, Kevin accepted the invite.

Victoria was the one who started it all to make this dream come true for her brother. She had this to share on the campaign’s page:

Taylor got back to us!!!! She is unable to attend Kevin’s prom, although did one better- Invited Kevin to be her date to the Academy of Country Music Awards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you so so so so so much! The McGuire family could never show how grateful we are to all of you! We have won in more than one way.. we got Taylor to take Kevin on a date, and we have made so many good friends along the way!

This is when the power of social media is truly priceless. We are so happy that Kevin gets to have a night of fun away from his daily battle. We wish the best to Kevin and his family, health and continued strength, and we hope that Kevin has the most amazing time with Taylor at the ACM Awards!

The ACM Awards are set for April 1st in Las Vegas.

VIDEO: Love And Theft React To ACM Nomination

love and theft

Here’s a successful case of addition by subtraction.  Love and Theft went from being a trio to being a duo to being nominated for an ACM award.

Stephen Barker Liles and Eric Gunderson nabbed a nomination for Vocal Duo of the Year.  As the below video shows, the guys are just a little bit excited about it:

Announcing The Nominees For ACM Entertainer Of The Year…YOU!

acm awards

This Thursday you’ll not only be able to hear who’s nominated for the 47th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards – you might be doing the announcing!

The year the ACM is going digital with the announcement of the nominees via Facebook and Twitter.  Naturally, Reba McEntire, who is co-hosting the show along with Blake Shelton, will be part of the Internet event.  She’ll be joined by surprise guests who will announce categories via videos posted in real time to fans and media simultaneously.  In other words, we’ll all learn who’s nominated at the same time.

The digital press conference ends with the big moment — perhaps your moment —  when country music fans announce the nominees for Entertainer of the Year.  Staring today you can post videos announcing the name of the artist you would like to see nominated for Entertainer of the Year.  Then you can see if your video is used to announce your pick for the ACM’s biggest prize.

ACMs Change New Artist Category For 47th ACM Awards

Academy of Country Music ACMs

The Academy of Country Music has just announced changes to its New Artist category at next year’s ACM Awards in Las Vegas. The New Artist Of The Year will now be combined from the former newcomer categories New Male Vocalist, New Female Vocalist, New Solo Vocalist, and New Vocal Duo or Group. The winner of the new category will be announced live at the 47th annual Academy of Country Music Awards next year. The awards will be held next Spring on a still-unannounced date.

The top 8 artists from the first round of ACM voting will now be semi-finalists. They will compete for fan voting through the Great American Country (GAC) tv website, as well as the ACM membership vote. The top 3 nominees will then compete for the New Artist Of The Year category, with another combined fan and industry vote to determine the winner.

Nominees for the 47th annual Academy of Country Music awards will be announced in February.
