This week we would like to draw attention to a new series that hit ABC Family last night. I know, I know. Most of you probably failed to realize this new show was on because you were tuned in and so enamored by ABC’s “Duets” (or were really just staying “in the know” so when you read my friend, Nicole Piering’s, recap, you could identify with what she was referring to), but have no fear — “Duets” returns to Thursday nights next week and this new show can get all of your attention!

The question of the week is “Who’s Your [Baby] Daddy?!” and the answer would be Jean-Luc Bilodeau, previously of “Kyle XY.” “Baby Daddy,” a situation comedy on ABC Family starring Bilodeau, along with Derek Theler, Tahj Mowry, Chelsea Kane, and the reason we are spotlighting this show, CMT’s “The Singing Bee” hostess with the mostest and actress who brought us that big-hearted, small-brained Barbara Jean on “Reba,” Melissa Peterman!

“Baby Daddy” has been compared to “Three Men and a Baby” and shares the premise of a baby being left on her father’s doorstep by the biological mother, requiring the father and his fellow bachelor buddies to raise this infant who seems more like an alien than a human being. “Baby Daddy” has been the source of many critics’ contentions, but the positive aspect in an ill-received new show has overwhelmingly been Melissa Peterman. Peterman plays “Bonnie,” Bilodeau’s mother and grandmother to baby “Emma,” and proves to be young and light-hearted, but makes it known that she clearly regrets having had her own children so young.

All of this “Three Men and a Baby” talk leads me to wonder how long it will take the writers of the show to put a cardboard cut out of one of the male stars in a window in hopes that people will think they have seen a ghost. Hey writers, if all else fails, VHS rentals and sales soared when the “Three Men and a Baby” bunch pulled that little stunt. Tip of the cardboard top hat to them for coming up with that scheme! If I have learned anything from my taste in movies and shows, it is that the critics are often negatively speaking of storylines, characters, and actors/actresses I grow to love (I am talking directly to those of you who gave “Beaches” two stars and tried to give “One Tree Hill” the old heave ho during season one … nine seasons later, and what?!). And if I know anything about Melissa Peterman’s ability to bring a character to life, I would imagine that this show will at least tickle your funny bone and leave you wanting to come back for more the following week.

“Baby Daddy” airs on ABC Family on Wednesday nights at 8:30pm EST. Tune in, give it a whirl, and hey, if you don’t care for it, at least you have Nicole’s “Duets” recap to look forward to the next night!

Hey Keepin’ It Country readers! Welcome to our newest “column,” entitled “This Week in Entertainment…” This column will give all of you a heads up as to where to find some of your favorite country music artists on television shows, in newly released movies, and anyplace else an artist or his/her song may pop up with minimal warning! And, heck, while we are giving you that notice, we will also share a short review of that particular show, movie, etc., to help you decide if you want to tune in or check it out!

There is a new show on ABC Family called “Bunheads.” That term could likely be misconstrued to mean many things, but no, it is not a show about ex-boyfriends and tales of woe associated therewith. This show is about dancing; specifically, ballet. Why does this show get an extra special shout out on Keepin’ It Country? Because its promotional track is “The Sun Will Rise” by country music’s frequent and much beloved visitor, Kelly Clarkson.

“Bunheads” was conceived by “Gilmore Girls” creator, Amy Sherman Palladino, and if you were an avid watcher of those quick-witted, fast-talking Gilmores, you will notice many similarities between that show and this one. The most noticeable, other than the quaint, small town where everybody knows each other, is Kelly Bishop (Emily Gilmore) playing Fanny, the town of Paradise’s Miss Patty’esque dance teacher. You will also see some former Stars Hollow community members in small roles here, such as Gypsy. “The Sun Will Rise” is a perfect choice for “Bunheads,” which wrapped its first episode in shocking, almost cliffhanger fashion, making viewers wonder where this show is going and if it has the same staying power as Sherman Palladino’s previous hit. Clarkson’s track from her latest album, “Stronger,” serves as an anthem for the main players in “Bunheads” and gives the audience the feeling that everything will be alright, despite the large bump in the road that has already been hit.

DVR Alert: Gloriana To Premiere “(Kissed You) Good Night” Video

This Friday the 13^th will be special instead of scary for the members of Gloriana. That night the band debuts their music video for (Kissed You) Good Night.

The exclusive world premiere takes place during a broadcast of A Walk To Remember on ABC Family. The movie starts at 8:30pm ET/PT. When is the exact time for the video? You’ll just have to watch – or record it! (We call it a DVR Alert for a reason!)

The video stars Megan Park from The Secret Life of An American Teenager and the upcoming A Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song. That second features premiers on ABC Family January 22^nd. And now it should be perfectly clear why the Gloriana video is having its world premiere on ABC Family.

Naturally, Gloriana has always been about family. The band consists of brothers Tom and Mike Gossin, along with Rachel Reinert. (Kissed You) Good Night was written by Tom Gossin and Josh Kear, who wrote Before He Cheats for Carrie Underwood and Need You Now for Lady Antebellum. The song is just starting to make a dent on the charts and the video will certainly help its positioning.

We’re still waiting for the other big news from Gloriana: the release date of their upcoming album, A Thousand Miles Left Behind. As of this moment, all we know is that it will be out sometime this spring.
