Congratulations to country music’s very own superstar Carrie Underwood! She took home an award last night from the Country Music Association of Australia for Best International Album for “Blown Away.” The 19/Arista Nashville artist won the one category she was nominated for in the award show, and she was up against Tim McGraw‘s “Emotional Traffic,” Dierks Bentley‘s “Home,” Zac Brown Band‘s “Uncaged,” and Alan Jackson‘s “Thirty Miles West.” The award show was held back on January 26th, and she just received her award in-person this week.

Country stars react to Mindy McCready’s suicide

Mindy McCready.

It’s been a tragic twenty-four hours for the country music community after learning about the passing of singer Mindy McCready. The “Ten Thousand Angels” artist was found dead from an apparent suicide last night in Arkansas. Mindy was 37 years old and leaves behind a six year old and a nine-year old son.

See what some of country’s brightest stars had to share about the sad news:

Oak Ridge Boys: We sang “Farther Along” last night in honor of Mindy McCready. One day we will know!!!!!

John Rich: Very sad to hear about Mindy McCready. When I was in Lonestar she was our label mate and we were friends. A tragic end to a talented life.

Jana Kramer: So sad to hear about the loss of Mindy. What an insanely talented woman.

Michelle Wright: As you may know Mindy McCready has passed on. She was a young promising country music artist in the mid ’90′s but faced a number of challenges and I’m so sad that she lost the battle with addiction and mental illness which can also cause depression. I’ve been sober now for several years and I know how hard it can be sometimes. RIP Mindy.

Jimmy Wayne: RIP @mindymccready We met 14 years ago @ Acuff & Rose. Who’d thought 14 years later on this day…. #why

Jason Blaine: Sad to hear about the passing of Mindy McCready. Thoughts & prayers for her young children. Tragic situation.

Carrie Underwood: I grew up listening to Mindy McCready… so sad for her family tonight. Many prayers are going out to them…

Grammy Recap: Our Favorite Moments

Carrie-underwood

The 55th Annual Grammy’s took place on Sunday, February 10th and our favorite country artists were well-represented with performances and more. It was impossible to pick a favorite moment, so we picked a few of the best…

Taylor Swift Brings in the Clowns: We’ve never been asked to open the Grammys (or much more than our own mail), but we’d assume it’s a big responsibility that comes with a ton of pressure. With her genre-bending, Alice-in-Wonderland-themed opener, Taylor Swift set the tone for a night of unforgettable performances with her hit about never, ever, ever, EVER getting back together. Although she nabbed a Grammy in the pre-telecast for her collaboration with the Civil Wars, it was her performance that had everyone buzzing. Most notably, there was that moment when she pulled her best Madonna, suddenly acquiring a British accent. Although much has been made about what that meant, we here at Keepin’ It Country have decided it could’ve only been aimed in one direction…

Country’s very own superstar Carrie Underwood is the latest cover girl for Allure magazine. The issue, which hits newsstands on Tuesday, January 22nd, Carrie talks about her stance on gay marriage and why she’s in support of the controversial topic, her stage outfits, and her views on family. It should be a must-read for any Carrie fan! We’re totally in support of Carrie standing up for what she believes in.

Get Blown Away By Carrie’s 2012!

When we caught wind of just how incredible Carrie Underwood‘s 2012 was, we were simply blown away. Not only were we amazed by the laundry list of successful moments Carrie experienced, but we were exhausted just thinking about everything Carrie accomplished in only 366 days (Leap Year, y’all … are we observant, or what?)! The following is what Carrie’s year consisted of:

Carrie Underwood Named Top Female Country Touring Artist of 2012

carrie underwood blown away tour pic
It’s no coincidence that Carrie Underwood‘s tour was titled the “Blown Away Tour,” as she blew away audiences and critics alike across the United States, the UK and Australia in 2012. The first leg of the 62 city tour wrapped on December 22, and according to Pollstar‘s Year-End chart, Underwood was the top female touring artist of the year.

Didn’t see Carrie in 2012? The tour will re-launch a second leg on February 13, 2012, sponsored by vitaminwater® and supported by Hunter Hayes. Additionally, $1 from each ticket sale will go to Red Cross Disaster to relief to provide shelter, food and emotional support for those in need.
