While JT’s debut release is still a few weeks away, check out what we had to say, along with a few other country blog sites!

“JT Hodges does two things really, really well. His full-bodied voice gives personality and a personal touch to nearly every song. And each song has a distinctive flavour, which both his voice and the instruments help provide…JT Hodges is going to be a star. More than any new artist I’ve heard, he makes interesting, varied, full-blooded music. In the biggest show of respect I can make, I’ll be buying this album myself.” – Keepin’ It Country

“I am struck by the versatility and ease of his voice.  He has a gritty sound that I believe sets him apart from many of his male counterparts in country music today.” –Focus on the 615

“The 10 songs showcase a singer ready to explode on the national country music scene with a blend of modern soulful tunes and traditional country music lyrics and melodies.”  – Roughstock

REVIEW: JT Hodges Debut Album

JT Hodges.

When I was asked to review JT Hodges’ self-titled debut album, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I’d heard his name, and I’d heard some positive reviews, but I couldn’t name a single song of his.

Now I know what to expect. And it’s a lot of good things.

The first notes of the lead song, “Rather Be Wrong Than Lonely”, are a quick drum beat and strong guitar chords that set the pace for my growing enthusiasm. I was into the song before he even began singing. Rarely does an album capture me so quickly, but by the time Hodges made it to the first chorus, I was trying to sing along to his full, sonorous voice.

J.T. Hodges Letting Fans Choose Next Single

J.T. Hodges

How would you like to choose J.T. Hodges‘s next single? He’s opening polls on his official Facebook fan page today for fans to vote on the next single he’ll be releasing from his debut country album due out August 21st. Voting for the third single from the Show Dog-Universal artist will continue throughout July, with the announcement and release of the winning single out two weeks before the street date of his new album.

It’s an important single for any artist to release during the release of an album, so we can’t wait to see what the fans choose. Show Dog-Universal’s Vice President of Sales, Marketing and New Media, Bill Kennedy, isn’t worried about this important decision. He explains:

“JT’s fan base is one of the most active I have seen for a new artist. They have already purchased more than 130,000 downloads of his two singles and we at the label thought it would be a smart idea to let these people who really get him and his music weigh in on the next single.”

Two of the songs up for voting were written or co-written by J.T. himself. Eight of the ten tracks on his upcoming album were written by the artist. The songs up for voting are “Sleepy Little Town,” “Leaving Me Later,” and “Rather Be Wrong Than Lonely.”  Check out YouTube videos of these performances here below before making your choice on JT’s Facebook page, and don’t forget to let us know what you chose!

Tug McGraw Foundation Benefit Clay Shootout

Tim McGraw.

Tim McGraw laid his father to rest well before his time, but that has not stopped Tim from carrying on his legacy. The Tug McGraw Foundation was created by Tim’s father, a Major League Baseball player who lost his battle to brain cancer after his diagnosis in 2003. The Tug McGraw Foundation strives support military service members who suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injury.

To raise funds for Tug’s project, Tim will host a Celebrity Sporting Clay Shootout on Tuesday, June 5, 2012. Joining Tim at this event will be Luke Bryan, Craig Campbell, Montgomery Gentry, Josh Gracin, JT Hodges, Jon Pardi, the Warren Brothers, and more. The fifteen teams will consist of one professional shooter, one celebrity guest, and two other individuals. Included at the event are a barbecue lunch and a silent auction.

The Celebrity Clay Shootout will take place in Nashville, Tennessee at the Nashville Gun Club. Fore more information about the event and the foundation, or to make a donation to the cause, visit the official website for the Tug McGraw Foundation.
