Kellie Pickler Spends Holidays on USO Tour

Kellie Pickler USO Tour

We know Kellie Pickler is awesome, but then she does something like this and we are reminded just how awesome she truly is.

The country star spent the holidays in the Middle East with our troops on another USO tour, marking the seventh USO tour for Pickler.

Her nine-day tour was part of the USO’s “Every Moment Counts” campaign. The campaign was launched to bring appreciation and awareness to the everyday moments that our troops and their families miss. Visit to send a thank-you to our servicemen and women, and find out how you can help.

Pickler tweeted: “Not every Christmas do you get 2 fist bump a soldier while hanging your feet off the back of a Chinook in Afghanistan.”

Thank-you is really not enough for our troops’ service and sacrifice, but we will still say it…. THANK-YOU!

And thank-you to Kellie Pickler for spending Christmas overseas and helping to bring them some joy and a bit of home.

Toby Keith has always been one of the most supportive artist for the American military. At a recent show in Texas, he surprised a military wife with the return of her husband. Major Pete Cruz was serving in Afghanistan and his wife had no idea that he was coming home that night. Toby and his crew surprised her in a way only Toby could. Check out the video below:

You’re always guaranteed to have a good time at one of Toby Keith‘s shows, but a special moment had the crowd up on its feet during his Live In Overdrive stop in Saratoga Springs. During his show, he spotted one fan holding up an Armed Forces t-shirt in the crowd. After asking him if he was military, Toby brought him up onstage during his encore of “Courtesy Of The Red, White And Blue (The Angry American)”. While it’s not the first time Toby brought a soldier on-stage with him during his show, it was the first time that the military veteran stole the show by performing the song himself.

Shawn Morgan was invited to sing one line of the song: You’ll be sorry that you messed with the U.S. of A., ’cause we’ll put a boot in your ass, it’s the American way,” but instead he tapped Toby on the shoulder and performed most of the song on his own.

Check out the video below of Shawn’s big moment on-stage:

Country music’s own Chris Young, with the help of Stars For Stripes and the Minot Exchange, was reunited with Wounded Warrior Scott Lilley last week. Scott accompanied Chris in 2009 for Great American Country (GAC)’s television special “Stars For Stripes: Wounded Warriors Return” when Chris went to entertain the troops overseas. The pair was reunited at a CD signing at the Minot Air Force Base before Chris’ show at the North Dakota Fair later that evening.

“It was awesome to see Scott again and always great to be around the brave men and women who serve our country,” says Young.

Chris serves as a board member of Stars For Stripes, a non-profit organization that provides entertainment to deployed American Forces in remote areas. Check out the picture of the pair, and the Lilley family, reunited at Chris’ CD signing last week:

Kellie Pickler On 5th USO Tour

kellie pickler review

Country music singer Kellie Pickler is back overseas this Memorial Day Weekend to help celebrate the holiday with the USO. It’s a cause that has always been important to the North Carolina native, who adds a star tattoo to her wrist in honor of each tour she does for the troops.

“I’ve been so blessed to work a lot with the USO and travel overseas to Afghanistan and Iraq and Kosovo and all kinds of other military bases. I’ve been able to see firsthand just exactly what they’re doing,” says the singer-songwriter in an interview with The Boot. “It takes a very special person to sacrifice everything. When I say ‘everything,’ I don’t mean just their time, I mean their life. Everything! Their family, their kids, their loved ones. You sacrifice every thing to put your life on the line for us, and it’s such a great, honorable, heroic thing … We have to raise our glass to them and keep them all in our prayers and always say thank you.”

While her exact location is being kept secret for security reasons, Kellie felt it was important to go and pay her respects to the men and women serving overseas. The “Tough” singer Tweeted that she was “Off to the Middle East! #USOtour.”
