Carrie Underwood, an 11-time Academy of Country Music Award winner, co-penned a song specifically for the Academy’s military tribute show, ACM PRESENTS: AN ALL-STAR SALUTE TO THE TROOPS. Carrie’s performance of “Keep Us Safe” will debut during the broadcast airing this Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at 9:00 PM ET/PT on the CBS Television Network.  Coinciding with her performance, the song will be available digitally with proceeds benefiting ACM Lifting Lives®.

“When we were approached to be a part of the show, I was so excited to do something to honor our troops, and because ACM Lifting Lives does such great work. I wanted to take the time to really think about what song I wanted to perform,” shares Carrie.  “I had a writing session scheduled with my co-writers and friends Hillary Lindsey, Luke Laird and Shane McAnally, and I guess the show was weighing on my mind. I think we all left the session knowing the song was special because it basically wrote itself that day!”

In honor of Armed Forces Day (May 17) observances ACM PRESENTS: AN ALL-STAR SALUTE TO THE TROOPS features Dierks Bentley, Lee Brice, Luke Bryan, Merle Haggard, Hunter Hayes, Toby Keith, Miranda Lambert, Tim McGraw, Kellie Pickler, Blake Shelton, George Strait, Keith Urban, Eli Young Band, Florida Georgia Line, Lady Antebellum, Rascal Flatts and The Band Perry paying tribute to our country’s remarkable all-volunteer military force. The two-hour special is co-hosted by LL COOL J and Chris O’Donnell, and produced for television by dick clark productions, to air on Tuesday May 20, 2014 at 9:00-11:00 PM ET/PT on the CBS Television Network. Tomorrow’s Valentine’s-themed episode of “Chelsea Lately” will feature multiple Grammy nominated and winning country star, Billy Ray Cyrus. Fans can tune in at 11pm ET/PT on E! Entertainment tomorrow, February 13th, to watch.

This week also saw Cyrus drop two new singles. One being the re-imagining of his 1992 hit “Achy Breaky Heart”, featuring Hip Hop artist Buck22 and Larry King, titled “Achy Breaky Heart Pt 2″.

“It all started with Larry King… We were playing around in the studio and decided to do something fun for the 22nd anniversary of the song,” CYRUS notes of the raucous remake. “It’s so wrong, it’s right. Happy Valentine’s week…”

The other was the considerably more sombre “Hope Is Just Ahead”, a duet ballad Cyrus recorded with music legend Dionne Warwick at Jamie Foxx’s studio in LA. A portion of the proceeds of “Hope Is Just Ahead” will be donated to “Do The Write Thing-National Campaign to Stop Violence”, an organization that helps students at the ground level and tries to prevent violent behavior before it escalates.

Sarah Darling‘s “Blackbird,” a remake of the Paul McCartney penned Beatles classic, will be featured in the 200th episode of CBS’ Criminal Minds at 9 p.m. EST/PST tonight.

Darling was also in the news last week, receiving a nod from country music superstar Carrie Underwood in an interview with Glam, who said she would like to see more females doing really well in country music. “The ones who are out there — myself, Miranda, Reba, Taylor — are doing really well. I would just love to see more,” Underwood said. “It makes me a little sad when I do look at the charts and I see one female in the top 20. I really hope this is the year of the woman, and I really hope that there are some really breakthrough, amazing female artists that people can hear.” She goes on to specifically reference Darling, saying she has “such a sweet voice.”

Tune in to CBS to watch Criminal Minds tonight, and download Darling’s version of “Blackbird” here.

Blake Shelton plus The Band Perry – that sounds like a powerhouse country mix!

Blake Shelton has selected upcoming tour mates The Band Perry to be advisors for his team this season on The Voice.

“Blake didn’t have to ask us twice if we wanted to mentor his team this season on The Voice,” shared The Band Perry. “It was so much fun to work with Team Blake, and after 15 years of receiving plenty of ‘constructive criticism,’ it was our turn to pay it forward. We just hope we were as helpful to Blake’s team as our own mentors have been to us through the years.”

E! News will give you an exclusive look inside rehearsals with Shelton, TBP and Team Blake tonight at 7:30 and 11:30 p.m. Make sure you tune in!

Meanwhile, Shakira and Usher are back to mix things up with Blake and Adam this season. Blake’s better half, Miranda Lambert, will be back as well but as an advisor for Team Shakira. That should make for some fun and interesting competition in the Shelton-Lambert house!

Season 6 of The Voice will kick off Monday, February 24th on NBC!

If you thought you heard a familiar song on a commercial break during yesterday’s Super Bowl, you were right. Brandy Clark‘s single “Stripes” was featured in the Beats Music Super Bowl Commercial, which put a spin on the classic “The Tree Bears” fairy tale.

The commercial features Ellen DeGeneres breaking into an apartment in “The Woods” complex in hopes of finding “the perfect music to dance to.” “Stripes” was featured as “Mama Bear’s” music.

“I can’t believe it!” Clark exclaimed upon receiving the news. “I am so excited about the commercial and about representing such a cool brand like Beats, and then you throw in that the commercial is airing during the Super Bowl where my home state team is playing and it features Ellen…somebody pinch me!”

Clark added, “My brother called and said, ‘sis, did you ever think that the Broncos would be playing the Seahawks in the Super Bowl and that you would be singing in a commercial that would be played during the game?’ My brother grew up a huge Broncos fan and I have always been a big Seahawks fan. I asked if he was still pulling for the Broncos and he said, ‘oh no we’re all about the Seahawks now!’”

DVR Alert: Kelly Clarkson’s Cautionary Christmas Music Tale

Kelly Clarkson's Cautionary Christmas Music Tale

Try saying that title three times fast!

As you have probably seen advertised recently (during The Sound of Music, The Voice, or a myriad of other NBC specials), Kelly Clarkson is bringing some of her best assets to the network for her Cautionary Christmas Music Tale. Specifically, Kelly will bring her talent, sense of humor, and impressive cast of characters in her life to a television audience.

During this special, Kelly presents the brattiest possible version of herself (“Scrooge, diva’d out,” she calls the character) while trying to enlist celebrities to appear in a Christmas special. “We’re doing a show within a show, kind of like White Christmas,” Kelly says. “Let me tell you this, though … it’s nowhere near that good. I love what we’ve done, but that’s a classic.”

Kelly’s show will feature musical performances from mother-in-law, Reba McEntire, along with Trisha Yearwood, both of whom appear on Kelly’s Christmas album Wrapped in Red. The show will also include cameos by Jay Leno, Matt Lauer, Robin Williams, Whoopi Goldberg, William Shatner, Danica Patrick, Heidi Klum, Community‘s Ken Jeong and Queer Eye for the Straight Guy‘s Jai Rodriguez will make appearances. Oh, and did we mention Blake Shelton … as an elf?
