Hunter Hayes Covers Nashville Lifestyles Magazine

Hunter Hayes is one of the hottest stars in Nashville today, and this month, he’s covering the latest issue of Nashville Lifestyles for their “Single in the City” issue.

In the issue, he chats about his favorite places in Nashville, including his favorite place to grab a burger, his favorite shopping locale and the place he’ll take you on a date. Regarding the latter, he says, “If I’m going to go on a date, I want to go somewhere where it looks like I’ve been there a lot, and it looks cool when you go to The Palm and everyone knows your name. Every once and awhile I’ll splurge and go there.”

And if you’re wondering what the highlight of being famous is, Hunter says, “Anything that has to do with this record and this past year. You’ve put out your first record, then comes the time where you prepare for your second record, amongst what’s happening with your first record good or bad, and you prepare for the stress and the pressure of it all…But the fun thing about all of this is that it just keeps getting more fun as we go along, as we get to the next thing. It keeps getting sweeter and sweeter.”

About becoming a duo:

Tyler Hubbard: “From the First song we wrote together we felt we had something cool. We worked easily together, we had a lot in common, and onstage it was really natural. It was a party. We just had fun with it.”

On their songs and their sound:

Tyler Hubbard: “Getting in the studio and letting [producer] Joey [Moi] understand who we are and what we’re going after was the key. He really captured the sound that we wanted, the sound that describes who we are. Just feel good music. Songs that make you want to roll your windows down and drive fast. We wanted something that sounded huge, even the slower songs.”

On common country music themes:

Brian Kelley: Man, that’s been around for years – dirt roads, beer, trucks and girls. That is country music, and I don’t think that ever gonna change.”

About the musical movement of blending music genres currently trending in country music:

Tyler Hubbard: “We write what we want to write. It’s mixing all of it together. We’ve been really blessed that what we love to write is attractive to people right now. People are grasping onto it. It puts us in a slot to be able to get out of the box and step out o the country music boundaries a little bit, and hopefully innovate a little bit.”

Brian Kelley: “I think people are looking for something fresh and new. Our fans seem to spread the music like wildfire. That doesn’t always happen, and it’s special to us and we’re blessed to be a part of it. It’s something really cool. It’s an exciting time, and a time we both hope continues to grow.”

In her interview with Fabulous, she speaks about her weight, why fans don’t need to be concerned, her self confidence, becoming a step-mother, and her treatments for anxiety and stress.

On if she has purposely tried to gain weight since fans and media became concerned, she said:

“I never tried to lose weight and I never tried to gain it. It depends on how stressed I am. I was eating a ton and couldn’t put on weight!”

But the important question: is she happy with how she looks?

“I’m secure with my body. Trust me, there are moments when I’ve stood in the mirror and gone: “Oh my God, I’m getting cellulite!” but then I stand in a different light and I’m like: “Oh, it’s not so bad now.” I have my moments, like every woman.”

The Band Perry Covers Billboard Magazine

It’s been a whirlwind for years for The Band Perry, and with their forthcoming sophomore album Pioneer hitting stores on April 2, the trio shows no signs of slowing down. They’ve already had a #1 single with the album’s first track “Better Dig Two,” worked with super-producer Rick Rubin, and this week, the band covers Billboard magazine.

Read on for some excerpts from the story and be sure to pick up the issue on newsstands.

On working on the new album: “Even more than pressure, we felt responsibility to even have the opportunity to record a second album,” Kimberly says, “because the fans making the first record such a success was in itself such a gift. The three of us felt the responsibility to dig as deep as we could, and we definitely dug deep.”

To begin the recording process, we took a road trip out to Malibu, Calif.,” Reid says, “and during that time we wrote a lot of the music along the way, including at the Grand Canyon. We wrote the song ‘Pioneer’ in Santa Fe, N.M.” They eventually made it to Malibu and met with Rubin. “Rick helped us refine the songs,” Reid says.

About working with Rick Rubin: “Rick also opened up our minds to the spirit behind music,” Kimberly says. “He was a teacher in that area. There were times where we walked into the control room that he had tears in his eyes because the music so moved him.”

See a behind-the-scenes look at the cover shoot and making of the album on, here.
