Kacey Musgraves steals second spot in UK charts

Kacey Musgraves.

Mercury Records singer/songwriter Kacey Musgraves has taken her debut album Same Trailer Different Park to international markets with its release in the UK last Monday. Three days after its release, the album sits in the No. 2 position on the iTunes Country Chart behind Taylor Swift.

The Guardian raved about Musgraves’ Same Trailer Different Park, touting “Not since the emergence of Taylor Swift has there been as much buzz in the genre about a young artist’s crossover potential,”  adding “She [Musgraves] sings with an affectless detachment…and uses it to cut sharply through the lies people tell themselves.”

Kacey also announced a Record Store Day show at London’s Slipped Discs on Saturday at 4pm to celebrate the vinyl release of Same Trailer Different Park (available now on Amazon).

One of our favorite country groups, Lady Antebellum, released their new single, “Downtown,” today.

“Downtown” serves as the lead single for the trio’s upcoming fourth album, and is now available for download on iTunes.

Lady A’s Hillary Scott had this to share about the new song:

“There’s some sass to this track that makes it really fun to sing…it’s definitely a roll down the windows and bob your head kind of thing. We thought it was a fun way to launch the next record and a fitting preview of what’s to come!”

Off You Should Go … to iTunes

Off I Go Cover

You know when you hear a song and you just know it has “it”? That song that you can’t wait to hear on the radio while you are driving with the windows down so other cars can hear it? The song you sing at the top of your lungs? Well, remember that Cherie Oakley single, “Off I Go,” we teased last week? Well, it is now available on iTunes, and it is just that kind of song!

“Off I Go” has a Laura Bell Bundy “Shakin’” fun beat with some serious Miranda Lambert attitude. Add these things together with Cherie’s unparalleled vocals, and it certainly has all the components to be a huge hit!

While I would love to stay here and go on and on about how fantastic this new single is, I have one thing to say — “hell no, off I go!” I have a song to listen to on repeat!

What are you waiting for? Head over to iTunes and download “Off I Go”! Let us know what you think of Cherie’s song by leaving us a comment here or contacting us on Twitter @keepinitblog.

The siblings are also the most added at country radio since they sent out the lead single from their sophomore album after performing it live on the Country Music Association (CMA) Awards. It also became a trending topic on Twitter after their performance, which many of our readers said was one of the main highlights of the entire broadcast.

The Band Perry will soon release the “Better Dig Two” video, which they shot just outside of Nashville on Friday with director Declan Whitebloom. They rounded out the weekend back in front of the camera, taping the “CMA Country Christmas” special, which will air on ABC on December 20 and 22. The Perry’s will head to Europe this week for shows in Sweden, Norway, Ireland and the UK.
