Their ceremony will take place on Monday, September 17th at 11:30 am PST. They’re being inducted into the “recording” category and their star will be placed in front of the Sergent Supply Store on Hollywood Blvd. The Star is being awarded to the group by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.

Congratulations to Atlantic Records artist Hunter Hayes! The young singer-songwriter has been inducted into the Louisana Hall of Fame during a ceremony on September 7th. The Beaux Bridge native has become the youngest inductee ever into the Louisana Hall of Fame. He was surprised with the plaque at his Oschner Pediatrics benefit concert by the president of the Louisiana Hall of Fame, Mike Shepherd, and Cajun artist Jo-El Sonier. It was an early birthday gift for the Academy of Country Music’s New Artist of the Year nominee, who is turning 21. Jo-El led the crowd in Happy Birthday for Hunter during the presentation.

Hunter will officially be celebrating his 21st birthday when he performs the national anthem at the New Orleans Saints’ game against the Washington Redskins on Saturday.

Check out the smiling Hunter below from the presentation. What did you do on your 21st birthday?

ACM Pledges $2.5 Million to Hall of Fame Expansion

acm

The Academy of Country Music (ACM) promised to donate $2.5 million towards the Country Music Hall of Fame And Museum’s massive expansion project which will bring the museum from 140,000 square feet to more than 350,000 square feet. The donation is part of the “Working On A Building: Country Music Lives Here” project. As part of the expansion, the Country Music Hall of Fame And Museum announced an ACM Contemporary Gallery, which will feature modern events, developments, and culture in today’s country music.

“It is the Academy’ss honor to help ensure that the history of country music can be told for generations to come,” ACM CEO Bob Romeo. “We are able to make this kind of contribution only because of the incredible country music artists who give of their time for Academy charitable endeavors; we can’t thank them enough for the impact they have on our industry.”

The Hall of Fame is very moved by the generosity of the ACMs, explains Museum Director Kyle Young:

“We are deeply indebted to the ACM for this wonderful gift, which will help us continue to fulfill our educational mission and serve our worldwide audience. The genre we chronicle is a living thing, constantly evolving; country music history is being made every day. Great museums must remain relevant, and the ACM Contemporary Gallery will allow us to not only expand our examination and celebration of modern stars, important background players and new developments in the genre, but also to spotlight new artists, trends and issues as they break.”

Taylor Swift Exhibit Opening June 6th

Taylor Swift.

The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum announced this week that Taylor Swift will have a special exhibit running from June 6th until November 4th, 2012. “Taylor Swift: Speak Now – Treasures From The World Tour” will feature dozens of costumes, instruments, pieces from the set, and the props used on Taylor’s 2011-2012 Speak Now World Tour. Her tour was seen by over 1.5 million fans in over 111 shows in 19 countries.

“Taylor Swift’s Speak Now tour was one of the most successful tours in all of music, and she has been an ambassador for Country music, raising awareness of our genre literally around the globe,” said Museum Director Kyle Young. “We are delighted to be able to bring our visitors up close and personal with many of their favorite elements from the show, from the colorful and elaborate stage costumes and beautiful instruments, to the magnificent ‘Juliet balcony’ that Taylor entered near the conclusion of each show and ‘flew’ around the circumference of each venue.”

It was also announced earlier this month that Taylor has donated $4 million to the Hall of Fame to open up a Taylor Swift Education Center. Her donation was the largest ever made by an artist to the Hall of Fame and Museum 45-year history.

Taylor Swift gave back to the country music community this week with a big donation to the Country Music Hall of Fame. The superstar singer-songwriter donated $4 million to the Hall of Fame, to help fund the Taylor Swift Education Center. The Taylor Swift Education Center will be an exhibit and classroom opening in 2014. It’s the largest donation ever given by an artist for the Hall of Fame, and the second largest from an individual.

The Taylor Swift Education Center is part of the $75 million “Working on a Building“  expansion the Hall of Fame is currently undergoing. The total expansion will increase the size of the museum from 200,000 square feet to more than 350,000 square feet over the next few years.

“In terms of what it will allow us to do, we do education very well now,” museum director Kyle Young said. “It will allow us to do what we do better, serve more people, develop new programs and I’m happy to say that as we talked through this opportunity with Taylor, she very much wants to be involved in an advisory capacity in what we do. Is there a better person out there who’s in touch with a young audience? I think not. I was joking we should be paying her to do that. I was only joking.”

Taylor’s exhibit will have its own outdoor entrance, and will be approximately 7,500 square feet spread out over two stories. It will house activities like a musical petting zoo, and a classroom to make concert posters. It will give teens new workshops with the museum.
