Kacey Musgraves to perform television debut of new single
Mercury Nashville singer/songwriter Kacey Musgraves will perform the television debut of next single “Blowin’ Smoke” on the Emmy Award-winning The Ellen DeGeneres Show on April 10. Check for your local listings for broadcast time and network.
“Blowin’ Smoke” was shipped to radio this week and is the follow-up single to the top-10 hit “Merry Go ‘Round.” Kacey co-wrote “Blowin’ Smoke” with Shane McAnally and Luke Laird.
Kacey’s album Same Trailer Different Park was released on March 19th and hit the #1 spot on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart with sales of over 43,000. This makes her the first solo female artist in five years to accomplish this feat with a debut release, and just the seventh in the 22-year Nielsen SoundScan era.
Catch Kacey this Sunday on the 48thAnnual Academy of Country Music Awards where she is nominated for FEMALE VOCALIST OF THE YEAR and VIDEO OF THE YEAR (“Merry Go ‘Round”) for both artist and producer.

VIDEO: Simon Cowell Mad at The Voice
X Factor judge, and producer, Simon Cowell isn’t very happy this week. He has been pretty vocal lately about NBC’s decision to run a 3-night season premiere of its hit singing competition The Voice, after Simon says they agreed to let X Factor have Wednesday and Thursday. The Voice aired last night, again tonight, and will tomorrow night. Simon believes that NBC is afraid of losing viewers to X Factor after fans watch the first episode.

Taylor Swift may be country music’s super-star solo act, but if she ever wants to do a due, she may have found herself a suitable singer.
Taylor joined “The Lorax” co-star Zac Efron on today’s Ellen DeGeneres Show. Naturally, the two were there to talk about their movie, but where there’s Taylor, there are tunes. In this case, Swift and Efron (who did plenty of singing in Disney’s “High School Musical” movies) sang a special serenade for Ellen.
Was the song improvised? Probably not. Is it funny? Absolutely!
