Ronnie Dunn records on Kelly Clarkson’s Christmas Album

Kelly Clarkson.

Maybe the question of Kelly Clarkson totally going country may be solved once and for all. While she was performing her country single “Don’t Rush” last night on the Academy of Country Music Awards, country legend Ronnie Dunn revealed some pretty exciting news on his Facebook fan page. Turns out… Kelly is putting together her own Christmas album, and he’ll be a part of it!

Ronnie Dunn: I like Kelly Clarkson…..I’m singing on her Christmas record :)

Maybe the vocal powerhouse got the idea after guesting on Blake Shelton‘s “Cheers… it’s Christmas” record last year. Fans should be able to expect Kelly’s still-untitled Christmas album out this Holiday season. Do you think she should go country or stay pop? Who do you want to see on the album? Let us know!

Hunter Hayes shares Christmas memories

Hunter Hayes.

Country music’s young star Hunter Hayes is a pretty big fan of this time of year. It shouldn’t come as a surprise for fans of the singer-songwriter to know that he’s always kept Christmas musical in some way. Check out what he had to say about the holiday season, including his favorite memories, his traditions, and what he thinks is the best Christmas song:

Favorite Christmas Memories Musical Gifts:

I think my favorite Christmas memory is any Christmas memory having to do with a music gift.  Because pretty much every year from the time I was 2 to the time I was 10 it was something.  One year it was a drum kit, one year it was a guitar, one year it was a Tascam recording system. So a little selfish, but, I did love waking up on Christmas morning and there would always be something musical sitting under the tree.  It was awesome.  Thus, I am obsessed with music now.

Favorite Christmas Musical Gifts Memories 2:

I think my favorite Christmas memory is a combination of the fact that for five years in a row I asked for musical instruments every year. So I woke up and I got a musical instrument, which was awesome. Then just hanging out with family.  That’s one of two days a year that I know I will get to see everyone in my family.  In Louisiana, everybody lives pretty close to each other, so you know you’re going to see everybody. So it’s really cool. I definitely appreciate it more now that I’ve moved away than I think I did then.  Just getting to see everyone at once. And we’d always just hang out and watch whatever was on tv or just chat about whatever, good home cooking.  You know, grandma makes the best food in the world—both of my grandmothers, if they’re listening.  They’re both equally awesome.  It was a time where we’d go from one house to another just seeing everybody.

Christmas Holiday Season Traditions:

I think if I have any holiday traditions now it is just to make sure that I get back to Louisiana to see all my family.  Because you know everybody’s there and we love to just hang out and that’s kind of just a tradition of ours, and it’s kind of understood that three days before and three days after Christmas or New Year or Thanksgiving, we just go down to Louisiana and spend time there and just hang out.  No agenda. No list of things to do. We just go to see family, and visit and catch up, which is always, always needed.

Favorite Christmas Song:

I think my favorite Christmas song is probably I’ll Be Home for Christmas. I don’t know what it is about that song that just sleighs me every time I hear it because it’s so profound. It’s just so sincere, you know. It’s just one of those songs that’s really just real, that everyone can relate to.  Everybody either goes home for the holidays or has friends that they want to go visit or a significant other they want to go visit, you know, things like that; I feel we all just want to go for the holidays. It’s just one of those songs that just gets me every time.

Blake Shelton shares Christmas memories

Country music superstar Blake Shelton is a big fan of Christmas. The Country Music Association (CMA)’s Entertainer of the Year, who just released his first holiday album “Cheers! It’s Christmas,” just can’t get enough of the holiday season. See what Blake said about this time of year in his household with Miranda Lambert, his favorite drink for the holidays, and his favorite memory:

Christmas at the Shelton/Lambert Household:

Christmas in the Shelton/Lambert household is probably like a lot of y’all’s Christmases out there. It’s chaos and we don’t have any kids and so we’re the ones that travel to everyone else’s houses. So we start down in Lindale, TX on Christmas Eve with Miranda’s family and we always wake up there on Christmas morning and open presents, that’s where Santa comes, then we put everything in the car and drive all the way back to Oklahoma, it’s about a 3 hour drive, and then we have Christmas day with my family. Normally on either side of that Miranda and I normally before will try to have our Christmas just she and I together and it’s normally a wrapping night where we wrap everybody’s presents or actually I stand there and mix her drinks and watch her wrap everybody’s presents cuz I can’t warp worth crap but I like it I like how we do our thing and I think she does too.

Special Christmas Drink:

I don’t think I really have a special Christmas drink, I mean we always – all of us, Miranda’s family, my family – we always have a few drinks during Christmas. While we were making the album, though, I was actually drinking a little bit of wine believe it or not just to kinda kick back and try to get in that laid back state of mind that you’d picture Dean Martin or one of those guys doing when they get in the studio I guess.

Favorite Christmas Memory:

My favorite Christmas memory probably just happened last year. You always have all the different things that happen, whether it’s a gift or whatever, but the last Christmas I spent with my dad was actually in a hospital room and everybody had all their Christmases going on and for whatever reason everybody had been in the hospital room with my dad all day and then people went on to go do their Christmases at their homes and I decided, ‘I’m just gonna stay here with my dad’ and me and my dad sat in that hospital room together and laughed all night. We watched a marathon of Dumbest Stuff on Wheels together on Christmas Eve this past year and man, I wouldn’t trade that time with him for anything. That’s something I’ll never forget.

Tim McGraw Releases Christmas Single “Mary & Joseph”

timmcgraw

When we heard that Tim McGraw was releasing a new Christmas single, we were thrilled. When we  heard that Tim McGraw was releasing a cover of Dave Barnes‘s beautiful contemporary Christmas song, “Mary & Joseph,” we were ecstatic. The song is a slight foray outside of the traditional holiday formula, but it’s a beautiful and more modern telling of the classic Nativity story.

Dave Barnes has already written a #1 hit for Blake Shelton  (“God Gave Me You”), and we suspect that this track of Tim will be heard at Christmastime for years to come. When we reached out to Dave, he was beyond thrilled with the new recording of his track. ”Tim McGraw is a legend. I’ve been listening to his albums since I was in high school, and still remember where I was when I heard ‘Don’t Take the Girl’ for the first time. ‘Just to See You Smile’ is one of my favorite songs of all time. To think that Tim recorded one of MY songs has been and will continue to blow my mind! What an honor!”

Rascal Flatts Brings Us A Home For The Holidays

2011 Country Christmas

The holidays are a time for friends and family. Rascal Flatts (and friends) recognize the importance of loved ones during the holiday season, which is why they are ringing in the holidays by taking us to “A Home For the Holidays.”

The 14th Annual “A Home For the Holidays,” an entertainment special, airing on Wednesday, December 19 from 8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT on CBS, will be hosted by best-selling country vocal group Rascal Flatts.  It will include moving performances by  Rascal Flatts, Rachel Crow (whose performance accompanies her personal story about foster care adoption), Melissa Etheridge, Matchbox Twenty and Phillip Phillips. Wayne Brady, Kevin Frazier and Jillian Michaels are set to present.

Following the success of the past 13 annual shows, the special continues to tell touching stories about adoption from foster care to raise awareness for this important social issue. The inspirational stories of these American families are enhanced with performances by some of today’s most popular artists. Some of the musical performances accompany story segments which are introduced by celebrities who have their own adoption experiences or are involved with children’s issues.  The stories highlight exceptional American children and families involved in this rewarding process.

They strive to find a way to stop pet euthanasia when the animal faces a treatable, but life threatening injury or illness, due to financial issues. The organization aims to find a way to keep quality of life for both the owner and their animal.

About the foundation, JT shares:

“Animals, like people, will get sick or need medical attention at some point in time and as a dog owner, I know those bills can be pricey.”

Tickets can be purchased in advanced at browndogfoundation.com or at the door for $5 each. The event will also feature a silent auction, doggy bags, door prizes, and much more! The Brown Dog Foundation was created in 2006 in memory of Chip, a beloved dog who lived to the age of ten after his family wanted to euthanize him at a pound when he was four years old because of a cell tumor.
