Preview: Kelly Clarkson to Appear on CBS Sitcom “The Crazy Ones”

Kelly Clarkson: Pop star. Crossover country star. Reality shows mentor. Honorary McEntire. Sitcom star?

Although that last role may seem a bit far-fetched for the crossover country star, Clarkson will be adding yet another role to her already impressive resume. This fall, she will appear alongside of Robin Williams and Sarah Michelle Gellar in the pilot for a new CBS show, The Crazy Ones. Although she’s appeared on the small screen as a guest on Reba and a mentor on Duets, this may be Clarkson’s most risque role since grinding against Justin Guarini in From Justin to Kelly.

In the pilot, Clarkson plays a hilariously exaggerated and oversexed version of herself, while Williams and Gellar play a father-daughter advertising team. So you’ve got Mrs. Doubtfire, Buffy and the original American Idol in one place? We’ll be tuning in to CBS on Thursdays this fall at 9pm!

Rascal Flatts Brings Us A Home For The Holidays

2011 Country Christmas

The holidays are a time for friends and family. Rascal Flatts (and friends) recognize the importance of loved ones during the holiday season, which is why they are ringing in the holidays by taking us to “A Home For the Holidays.”

The 14th Annual “A Home For the Holidays,” an entertainment special, airing on Wednesday, December 19 from 8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT on CBS, will be hosted by best-selling country vocal group Rascal Flatts.  It will include moving performances by  Rascal Flatts, Rachel Crow (whose performance accompanies her personal story about foster care adoption), Melissa Etheridge, Matchbox Twenty and Phillip Phillips. Wayne Brady, Kevin Frazier and Jillian Michaels are set to present.

Following the success of the past 13 annual shows, the special continues to tell touching stories about adoption from foster care to raise awareness for this important social issue. The inspirational stories of these American families are enhanced with performances by some of today’s most popular artists. Some of the musical performances accompany story segments which are introduced by celebrities who have their own adoption experiences or are involved with children’s issues.  The stories highlight exceptional American children and families involved in this rewarding process.

Make sure to tune in to catch this very special holiday show!

Trace Adkins Talks About Memorial Day

Trace Adkins.

In a recent interview with CBS News, country music singer Trace Adkins shared his thoughts on Memorial Day.

I believe that Memorial Day should be the most reverent day of the year for us as Americans…I think it’s taken very seriously by the people that recognize it…And then there are some people that it’s just another day off from work. You know, that’s too bad.

Adkins has been a dedicated supporter of the men and woman who serve this country his whole life.  Recently, Adkins kicked of Fleet Week in New York with an intimate concert for servicemen and women.  Adkins says performing for servicemen and women “restore[s] your faith in humanity.

If you have the chance and you have an opportunity to spend time…with bona fide heroes, why would– why would you not want to do that…And when I get the opportunity to do it, all I can do is– I hope some of ‘em maybe it’ll rub off on me.

Fans of Trace Adkins can catch him on his Proud to Be Here Tour, going on right now.  For tour information and date, visit www.traceadkins.com.  Below is the video featured on CBS News.  Click the link to view to original CBS article.

VIDEO: Chris Young Break Dances On “The Talk”

Chris Young knew he would be performing on Thursday’s episode of CBS’ The Talk.  What he didn’t know is that he’d be busting a move.  Or better said, busting out his break dancing moves.

Fellow country superstar Miranda Lambert was serving as guest co-host for the show.  During an interview segment with Young, she revealed a little secret about him:  That he can break dance!  Naturally, the rest of the co-hosts and the entire studio audience wanted to see a sample of his skills.  As we see in the below video, Young was happy to oblige:

Lambert and Young appeared on the show to help promote the upcoming Academy of Country Music Awards.  Young is nominated in two categories:  Male Vocalist of the Year and Single Record of the Year for his smash-hit “You.”  Lambert is also nominated for two awards:  Female Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year for her chart-topping Four The Record.

The Academy of Country Music Awards, with Reba McEntire and Blake Shelton as co-hosts, are this Sunday, April 1 from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.  The show will be broadcast live on CBS starting at 8pm ET (delayed on the West Coast).

Country Cast For “The Big Bang Theory”

March Madness is making me a little, well, a little mad.  It’s now been two straight weeks that basketball has bounced The Big Bang Theory from CBS’ Thursday night lineup.

Along with being a huge fan of country music, I (along with millions of others) am also a big fan of the show.  The cast may be perfect down to the last micro-particle, but I’m going to mess with it anyway with this little “waiting for a new episode” time killer.

I’ve decided to replace the show’s regular stars with country stars who might be good at getting their geek on.  (For those who are old enough to remember it, insert the Folgers Crystals reference here.)  Please know that I’m in no way calling out the coolness of any of the singers included in the casting.  If anything, it should be seen as an honor to be picked for a place in the ultimate geek squad.

Some of the cast members were picked because they kind of look like the originals.  Others were picked because of the attitude they would bring to the role.  One choice is simply for the comedy of forcing this person to play the part.  Will you are agree or disagree with the casting?  Or will you have some ideas of your own?
