A Look Back at AMAs Fashion
This Sunday marks the 40th Anniversary of the American Music Awards, and when we think of decades past, we think of one thing — crazy fashion choices! So, in anticipation of this year’s big show, we decided to do a little fashion policing of our own (sorry Joan), because though the awards are really about the music, the thing that seems to get the most lasting buzz is the red carpet do’s and don’t's! Below are our staff’s picks for country music’s fashionistas and fashion faux pas in AMA history!
Taylor Swift to Perform at American Music Awards
Music superstar Taylor Swift is among three artists announced today as performers at the American Music Awards next month. She’s joining Nicki Minaj and Linkin Park, along with previously announced Christina Aguilera. The American Music Awards (AMAs) will be broadcast live from L.A.’s Nokia Theater on November 18th at 8 pm EST on ABC. The AMAs are a fan-voted award show with voting still open at voteama.com right now, so make sure to get your voice heard!
Additional performers and presenters will be announced as the date gets closer. Who else do you want to see from country music perform on the night?
Two for T2: Thompson Square Nabs Two Grammy Nominations
When does #1 equal two? When you’re Thompson Square and we’re talking about Grammy nominations.
Thompson Square earned two nominations for their chart-topping single “Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not.” The husband/wife duo are nominated for Best Country Song and for Best Country Duo/Group Performance.
“We both could not believe the news of our Grammy nominations,” said Keifer Thompson. “When our manager told us we really thought he was playing some sort of sick joke on us. We can’t thank the Grammys enough for this prestigious honor.”
“If I’m asleep please don’t wake me up…’casue this is a dang good dream,” added Shawna Thompson.
The two Grammy nominations are the latest in an avalanche of accolades for Thompson Square. The duo received seven nominations for the American Country Awards, which airs Monday night live on FOX (8pm ET). They will perform “Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not” during the broadcast.
Fans will see a lot of Keifer and Shawna next year as they will hit the road as part of Lady Antebellum’s “Own The Night 2012 Word Tour”.

Taylor Swift, “Favourite Country Female Artist” at the 2011 American Music Awards, was profiled on 60 Minutes Overtime tonight.
