EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Dee Jay Silver

Dee Jay Silver

In today’s music, it is common to hear a remix of some of your favorite songs; even heartfelt power ballads have turned into dance hits with the help of some of music’s most talented DJs. And just when you thought DJ’ing couldn’t become anymore unique, enter Dee Jay Silver, the first DJ to be signed to a major Nashville record label. Dee Jay has played in premier venues in virtually every major market in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, but has ultimately found his home in Nashville. Whether he is touring with Jason Aldean and playing in sold out stadiums, performing on the American Country Awards, or remixing the work of some of country’s best known artists, Dee Jay is bringing his talents to the fans of country music in a myriad of ways. Dee Jay took some time out of his day of “bad television” while he recovered from the ACAs in Las Vegas to talk with me about his music, his favorite tour stop to date, and his future plans (which included getting back to Nashville stat!).

Get Blown Away By Carrie’s 2012!

carrie

When we caught wind of just how incredible Carrie Underwood‘s 2012 was, we were simply blown away. Not only were we amazed by the laundry list of successful moments Carrie experienced, but we were exhausted just thinking about everything Carrie accomplished in only 366 days (Leap Year, y’all … are we observant, or what?)! The following is what Carrie’s year consisted of:

Payton Rae ends 2012 on a high note

Payton Rae.

It’s been a bit of a whirlwind year for internet sensation Payton Rae: from walking a red carpet, to charity events, and to even a fashion industry event! The “Stomp The Fire Out” singer is still so excited and thankful for this year.

She shares:

“This December is definitely going to be one that I’ll remember.  I had the privilege of doing so many different things:  walking the red carpet at the ACA’s in Las Vegas, singing at the PromGirl.com fashion show in New York City, working with a few charities for the holiday season, and writing new music. I have never had such a busy month, but honestly, that’s how I like it. I am so honored and blessed to have had all of these amazing opportunities. We ended 2012 with a bang!”

Payton will return to the recording studio in January 2013 to start work on her brand new album, which is scheduled for release sometime next year. She’s become a star in her own right this year – racking up more than 12 million views on her YouTube channel, and earning loyal social media fans on both Twitter and Facebook.

Payton recently signed a sponsorship deal with ALYCE Paris, which will have her seen in magazine ads across North America, as well as in the company’s Spring 2013 catalog, and in posters and banners across the United States.

The third edition of the fan-voted award show will once again air live on FOX from Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. Show Dog-Universal’s very own Trace Adkins is getting quite a few hosting gigs this year. Not only will he be returning once again to host the American Country Awards on FOX this December alongside Kristin Chenoweth, but now he’ll be hosting a brand new NASCAR series on GAC.

“The Definitive” will air on Great American Country and will profile the lives of top NASCAR drivers, their careers, and some pretty neat footage, interviews, and exclusive pictures for its viewers.

“’The Definitive’ series is a favorite with our viewers. Teaming up with Nascar Productions ensures that the stories behind the drivers are told with heart and authenticity,” said GAC VP/Programming Suzanne Gordon.

The program will air weekly on GAC on Wednesdays, with the first episode premiering last night. Did you catch it?

VIDEO: ACM Awards – Blake Shelton Wins Male Vocalist

Blake Shelton - AP Photo/Isaac Brekken

It was a busy night on Sunday for Blake Shelton at the 47th Academy of Country Music Awards. The really good kind of busy!

Shelton co-hosted the show with Reba McEntire, and the pair once again nailed their roles as hosts. You can always count on it being a fantastic show with McEntire and Shelton leading the way.

The country superstar also performed his single “Drink On It” from his hugely successful and number one album, Red River Blue. He then took the stage again to close the show. This time, though, with Lionel Richie for their duet version of “You Are.” The track will be on Richie’s Tuskegee album, which features duets with various country stars.

To top it all off, Shelton snagged the ACM Award last night for ‘Male Vocalist of the Year!’ He was surprised by the honor, but it is very well deserved and we are so happy for him. Congratulations to Blake!!!!

Shelton also stopped by the press room for an interview. He discussed his career, The Voice, Taylor Swift, and his wife, Miranda Lambert.

VIDEO: Chris Young Break Dances On “The Talk”

Chris Young. photo credit: Monarch Publicity.

Chris Young knew he would be performing on Thursday’s episode of CBS’ The Talk.  What he didn’t know is that he’d be busting a move.  Or better said, busting out his break dancing moves.

Fellow country superstar Miranda Lambert was serving as guest co-host for the show.  During an interview segment with Young, she revealed a little secret about him:  That he can break dance!  Naturally, the rest of the co-hosts and the entire studio audience wanted to see a sample of his skills.  As we see in the below video, Young was happy to oblige:

Lambert and Young appeared on the show to help promote the upcoming Academy of Country Music Awards.  Young is nominated in two categories:  Male Vocalist of the Year and Single Record of the Year for his smash-hit “You.”  Lambert is also nominated for two awards:  Female Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year for her chart-topping Four The Record.

The Academy of Country Music Awards, with Reba McEntire and Blake Shelton as co-hosts, are this Sunday, April 1 from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.  The show will be broadcast live on CBS starting at 8pm ET (delayed on the West Coast).

Kristin Chenoweth Announces Tour, Offering Country And More

As promised, Kristin Chenoweth will be hitting the road to support her debut country album Some Lessons Learned.  Today the Emmy and Tony award-winning actress announced a 19-city North American tour.  Her first-ever tour will start May 9th in Seattle, WA and will wrap up June 24th in Kristin’s hometown of Broken Bow, OK.

The multi-talented Chenoweth will be performing songs from Some Lessons Learned, along with some of her most memorable songs and Broadway show tunes, including music from “Wicked,” “Promises, Promises,” and “Glee.”

Chenoweth co-hosted the American Country Awards back in December.  After the show, she told us that she planned on touring.  But those tour plans were temporarily put on hold while she was working on “GCB,” her new TV series on ABC.  The series premieres on March 4th with Chenoweth playing the role of Carlene Cockburn.

Below are the tour dates, cities and venues.  Tickets for select cities go on sale starting March 9th.
