Sad news this weekend for Reba McEntire and “Malibu Country” fans. ABC has announced that they will not air a second season of the comedy, and has cancelled what was once named their highest-rated freshman comedy series of 2012. The series aired 18 episodes on its one and only season on ABC. The show followed the story of Reba’s character, a country singer, who had uprooted her family following her divorce from Nashville to Malibu, California. She was trying to keep her career going while raising two kids.
“Malibu Country” was Reba’s return to television after her show “Reba” had run from 2001 to 2007. “Reba” still gets airtime today on multiple stations, including CMT Canada. The show had guest appearances from stars like Blake Shelton, Laura Bell Bundy, and more. Martina McBride and Kelly Clarkson had both previously expressed their interest in wanting to guest star on the sitcom as well.
ABC will be renewing Nashville, which has become a mega-hit for the station, so country music won’t be completely gone.
Are you sad to see the loss of “Malibu Country”? Did you get the chance to watch it while it was on-air?
If you’ve been following ABC’s new hit drama series “Nashville,” you already won’t be missing the season finale on May 22nd. For those who haven’t been tuning in, there’s an even bigger reason to start. Country superstar Brad Paisley will be appearing in the finale episode on May 22nd on ABC. He’ll play himself in a cameo appearance where he will perform alongside show main characters Deacon and Rayna.
It isn’t the first time for the Paisley family. Brad’s wife, actress Kimberly Williams-Paisley, had a character that had made multiple appearances throughout the season. Her character was a mistress to Teddy.
Will you be tuning in? Have you been watching the first season of the show?
Country superstar Brad Paisley and his new best friend LL Cool J have no regrets about recording “Accidental Racist.” The track, which appears on Brad’s brand new album “Wheelhouse,” has managed to generate so much controversy the last few days that the pair stopped by Good Morning America to defend their recording.
What people are having issues with is the use of the Confederate Flag in the lyrics, with LL Cool J saying to “forget the iron chains” if you “ignore my gold chains.” The song was written after Brad wore a t-shirt with a Confederate Flag in public, which was meant as a symbol of Lynryd Skynryd fandom, but was taken the wrong way.
The pair are preaching that they are trying to promote love and understanding, not racism. Take a look at their interview with ABC News and let us know what you think – was the song a mistake, or are people taking it the wrong way?
Country music’s biggest superstar was just given yet another accolade earlier this week. Big Machine’s Taylor Swift was named the Top Digital Selling Artist by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) based on the downloads of her music alone. That’s quite a feat for Taylor, who will be embarking on her “RED” world tour this year.
In other Taylor news, she’ll be debuting her brand new music video for “22″ on tomorrow’s Good Morning America. The broadcast will feature the full premier of the video, which will then be available after 11:30 am EST after her label releases the video to all outlets. Fans will be able to catch the first airing of the video on gma.yahoo.com as well as abcnews.com.
The always adorable and fun, Pickler, will be paired with Derek Hough, the brother of another country sweetheart, Julianne Hough. Pickler is the first past American Idol contestant to compete on the show.
Meanwhile, vocal powerhouse and 5-time Grammy winner, Judd, will be partnered with Tony Dovolani.
It should be an entertaining season for country music fans. Both pairs are a great match, and I can’t wait to watch!
This season’s cast of ABC’s hit show, Dancing With The Stars, is set to be revealed tomorrow morning on Good Morning America. However, some names have been leaked online and the rumor mill is churning.
According to TMZ and other media sources, country stars, Kellie Pickler and Wynonna Judd, will be among the line-up! Assuming this information is accurate, it will be exciting to watch Pickler and Judd compete on the show.
Black River Entertainment’s Sarah Darling will be continuing her national television appearances with her late night debut on Conan. The country singer will perform her hit single “Home To Me” on March 4th at 11 pm EST on TBS. Seeing how Conan is still my favourite late-night funnyman, I’ll be sure to tune in.. will you?
Sarah has been pretty busy this month, as she made her second cameo on ABC’s The Bachelor. Fans can catch her performance on tomorrow night’s episode starting at 9 pm EST on ABC. Not only is it her second time on the show, it’s her second time this month – her first cameo was on the February 4th episode which made a huge difference for Sarah – an increase in sales of “Home To Me” by 220%! Sarah sold more than 15,500 units of her EP in the week following her appearance on the reality show.
Will you be tuning in to either of her appearances?
ABC’s hit new series “Nashville” is really pumping up its country music cred. After already having country stars Chris Young and Brantley Gilbert have cameo performances on previous episodes, producers announced that Kip Moore, the legendary Vince Gill, and Pam Tillis will be part of the February 27th episode. The episode follows the birthday of character Deacon, who is played by Charles Esten.
Kip, who is a fan of the show, shares on why he hopes fans don’t think the real Nashville isn’t as dramatic:
”I don’t think that everybody believes that’s exactly how Nashville is. Tell people to lighten up a little bit. It’s TV. You gotta put the drama in there, and you gotta do stuff entertaining for people.”
Check out the preview for “Dear Brother” below. Who do you want to see appear on the show next?
Although they may no longer be co-hosting the ACM Awards, Blake Shelton & Reba will be reunited on the small screen very soon. According to HuffPost TV, Shelton is on his way to ABC’s Malibu Country. The reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year will appear on the March 1st episode, playing none other than Reba’s brother.
We have to admit we’re excited! How long until Blake gets a sitcom of his own?
