Reba’s Malibu Country cancelled

Reba McEntire.

Sad news this weekend for Reba McEntire and “Malibu Country” fans. ABC has announced that they will not air a second season of the comedy, and has cancelled what was once named their highest-rated freshman comedy series of 2012. The series aired 18 episodes on its one and only season on ABC. The show followed the story of Reba’s character, a country singer, who had uprooted her family following her divorce from Nashville to Malibu, California. She was trying to keep her career going while raising two kids.

“Malibu Country” was Reba’s return to television after her show “Reba” had run from 2001 to 2007. “Reba” still gets airtime today on multiple stations, including CMT Canada. The show had guest appearances from stars like Blake Shelton, Laura Bell Bundy, and more. Martina McBride and Kelly Clarkson had both previously expressed their interest in wanting to guest star on the sitcom as well.

ABC will be renewing Nashville, which has become a mega-hit for the station, so country music won’t be completely gone.

Are you sad to see the loss of “Malibu Country”? Did you get the chance to watch it while it was on-air?

VIDEO: Brad Paisley & LL Cool J defend Accidental Racist

Country superstar Brad Paisley and his new best friend LL Cool J have no regrets about recording “Accidental Racist.” The track, which appears on Brad’s brand new album “Wheelhouse,” has managed to generate so much controversy the last few days that the pair stopped by Good Morning America to defend their recording.

What people are having issues with is the use of the Confederate Flag in the lyrics, with LL Cool J saying to “forget the iron chains” if you “ignore my gold chains.” The song was written after Brad wore a t-shirt with a Confederate Flag in public, which was meant as a symbol of Lynryd Skynryd fandom, but was taken the wrong way.

The pair are preaching that they are trying to promote love and understanding, not racism. Take a look at their interview with ABC News and let us know what you think – was the song a mistake, or are people taking it the wrong way?

Brad will appear on LL Cool J’s new album.

Taylor Swift named Top Digital Artist

Taylor Swift.

Country music’s biggest superstar was just given yet another accolade earlier this week. Big Machine’s Taylor Swift was named the Top Digital Selling Artist by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) based on the downloads of her music alone. That’s quite a feat for Taylor, who will be embarking on her “RED” world tour this year.

In other Taylor news, she’ll be debuting her brand new music video for “22″ on tomorrow’s Good Morning America. The broadcast will feature the full premier of the video, which will then be available after 11:30 am EST after her label releases the video to all outlets. Fans will be able to catch the first airing of the video on gma.yahoo.com as well as abcnews.com.

We’re not sure if there will be any goats in the music video, however.

Kip Moore, Vince Gill & Pam Tillis appearing on Nashville

Kip Moore.

ABC’s hit new series “Nashville” is really pumping up its country music cred. After already having country stars Chris Young and Brantley Gilbert have cameo performances on previous episodes, producers announced that Kip Moore, the legendary Vince Gill, and Pam Tillis will be part of the February 27th episode.  The episode follows the birthday of character Deacon, who is played by Charles Esten.

Kip, who is a fan of the show, shares on why he hopes fans don’t think the real Nashville isn’t as dramatic:

”I don’t think that everybody believes that’s exactly how Nashville is. Tell people to lighten up a little bit. It’s TV. You gotta put the drama in there, and you gotta do stuff entertaining for people.”
